This is the only Whitecross CD I feel safe commenting on because I hate bands that blatantly shove the christian message down your throat and speak 1000f jesus and nothing else, and Whitecross were probably the worst offenders through my eyes. That said, I love 'Without your love' and 'Long road to walk'. 'Coming home' and 'My love' are great melodic hard rock tunes too. The rest? I don't like it, but these songs deserve attention. |

Probably my favorite WhiteCross album after the first one. You can tell they finally got a real producer and figured out how to do a ballad. The middle songs really make this CD great from the instumental 'Overdrive' leading into the power rocker 'Without Your Love' then the mellow 'Coming Home' to the power ballad 'My Love'. I could listen to those 4 tracks all day! |

They definitelly know how to handle their instruments. The singer dude does sound like Stephen Pearcy at times.Generally it brings on Ratt to my mind. A pretty decent melodic rock stuff. Glad i came across this record. |

the third record by this band I listened to. Less close to melodic heavy metal sound but closer to traditional hard rock with this early 90's grove and funk vibe. Still the production is very good and also guitar playing. My faves: in america, without your love, coming home and I am asking you today. By the wy how could I forget the lyrics-again terrific. |

if they put any other song as the opening track on this album it would have been much better album.so I must admit that this one is quite far from being a gem, the reason for this is I think their "new" sound they picked (in some songs a bit groovy and funky which showed that this album didn't fall on a solid ground, too bad) and maybe this could cause a tension in a band which led to Rex's leaving them.the production on this one is quite good but that couldn't help if there aren't enough gems.but some songs here are still great and also lyrics these which are my favourite tracks are:3,5,6,8 and 11.after all bad things I've written here I'm very happy that they didn't fall into grunge/alternative waters.God bless you all!!! |

very good release for WHITECROSS as usual with a strong Christian message ,great guitars and songs!excellent production and a big selection of songs from rockers to ballads to mid tempos , it seems that High Gear is a very well structured and performed album!"without your love","long road to walk" and "gonna keep on " are the highlights!recommended |
