An instant classic from the day it was released. This was produced Bob Ezrin, the guy that has cracked the whip on the most talented musicians in rock! This band had everything that you need for success, the look, talent, songs & musicianship. This is Hanoi Rocks in their prime. There's not a throw away on this disc. No doubt Ezrin had something to do with that. They are the band that spawned Guns 'n Roses, remember them? Faster Pussycat? And all that came after them. R.I.P RAZZLE 9.5

One of the greatest albums ever!! True classic!!!

From: Cotton C. Lover Date: June 19, 2002 at 19:16
Didn't like this one as much as Oriental Beat or Bangkok Shocks...... A little more polished than the others (which does hurt the overall effect). The lame remake of 'Don't you (n)ever leave me' is a low point. Solid album nonetheless.

From: Ronnie Roze Date: July 27, 2002 at 7:13
Andy McCoy The best songwriter in R & R this album have some new(-84)and some really old redone songs like quit highschool now Highscool but damned this album is good w songs like Blvd Of Broken Dreams, Underwater World, Million Miles Away, an many more.. GREAT ALBUM!!

From: Scott Snelson Date: August 19, 2002 at 21:18
The all time best band period. If it wasnt for vince neil this band would still be alive probably. They started it all GLAM, POP PUNKeven things we would like to forget they invented.guns and roses main influance.

There was a time in 1985 when I thought this album was the greatest thing to come along in years. Listened to it recently and it's held up surprisingly well. Some solid tracks ('Can't Get It', 'High School', 'Cutting Corners'), and novelty songs ('Boiler'), but I would have left the pointless CCR cover off. Listen close to the lyrics to 'Underwater World' if you are a G'n'R fan.

From: Gar Date: January 18, 2003 at 7:56
'Welcome to the jungle'. Now we know where Axl stole that from. This album was obviously made with the American market in mind. The songs are more polished and chorus heavy than their earlier works. It stands out from their other stuff, but not in a bad way. If you like the band, this is a must have.

Is this music ? One of the very worst bans EVER ! Rubbisch like I've never heard before. Avoid O/1O ! Sorry, but these are my feelings to Hanoi Rocks ! I only can be honest about it. Nice if you think otherwise, but for me ? Oh NO NO NO !!!

From: Pierre Date: February 11, 2003 at 16:36
Freddy, you said it well : it's only a matter of personnal tastes. Remember, one man's disgust is another one pleasure ? Nice HANOI ROCKS album by the way, probably their most commercial sounding courtesy by that Bob Ezrin production.

From: rocks Date: June 5, 2003 at 18:41
Ah what a great CD. Rough rowdy. Great quality production and outragous vocals. Suck on that you Trixter posers!!

From: RR-Finland Date: August 28, 2003 at 14:56
Classic as you guys already said. Boulevard of Broken Dreams did came from a poster of James Dean and itīs one of my favourite tunes in this album. Million Miles Away is so good ballad, byhyy

From: RR-Finland Date: August 28, 2003 at 15:03
Hey, whereīs the Twelve Shots On The Rocks? <---Great comeback album! Also live album coming soon...

My sister went out with Sammy Yaffa and when he came round for his tea he was a very nice boy. Munched his way through a whole packet of Jaffa cakes would you believe. Bit odd that isn't it, we called him Sammy Jaffa after that, Oh how we laughed of an evening whilst toasting our Mackerel and Chestnuts over an open fire. Pity that he got her up the spout and then sodded off back to the Arctic Circle without so much as a bye your leave. 'Don't you ever leave me' indeed.

From: Dean Date: January 20, 2004 at 13:14
Um- can someone translate that last post for me. I believe it was humour but I'm just trying to make sure.

From: Keyser Soze Date: January 20, 2004 at 16:56
Yes Dean, i will translate. Bispham skull was very cleverly using humour to update an ancient Peruvian/lancashirian folk narrative on the subject of synchronicity & coincidence, using the beloved music group `Hanoi rocks` as a canvas for the usurping of symbolism in modern language (Freud was the first to notice this phenomenon). Overall, i think he was trying to tell us that Life can be strange & we should be happy that life is strange. Maybe his sister really did date Mr. Yaffa. I Don`t know ?

From: Dean Date: January 21, 2004 at 11:49
Oh -Ok- Dude, that rules.

please someone tells me wherever i can find it..

From: Tony Date: March 19, 2004 at 22:58
I always loved that these guys sounded like they could give a s#@t what you think of them. Listened to this last night and still sounds fresh to me in 2004. Monroe sings with more punk angst and conviction in his voice than a billion 'nu-metal' singers combined. Love 'Boulevard...', Up Around..', & 'Boiler' especially but everything here is just classic. An essential 80's rock must-have.

From: HomoZombie Date: April 27, 2004 at 22:04
Easiest to find album that is also the best produced. Pretty good but cheesy at points. Find their best album first, Oriental Beat.

From: Mike h Date: May 11, 2004 at 20:56
I love these guys! they rock! the best songs on the cd are, in my opinion, UP AROUND THE BEND, HIGH SCHOOL, CUTTING CORNERS, FUTURAMA, and BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS. It is very sad that Razzle died after they made the album and were on tour. great cd!

From: Uncle Salty Date: May 27, 2004 at 9:30
The band that started what some years later would be called Glam metal, Sleazy rock or whatever you wanna call it. This album is a true classic like all of their albums. These guys didn't have the success they deserved, they should be playing stadiums like GNR did but unfortunately they only can play in clubs except in Japan where these guys are huge. They often go to Japan because people there love them so much, it's kind of a beatlemania for Hanoi Rocks in Japan. I wish Spain was Japan.

From: jack Date: June 8, 2004 at 6:30
Hanoi rock like poison are completely glam/sleaze but unlike poison they have always put their music above image or at least on the same level. This album is just a perfect in your face kick as glam/sleaze metal album. Up around the bend is a great revival of the c.c classic and the other 9 songs? glam at its best. Anyone who love glam or sleaze metal should own this album.

From: CC Date: August 25, 2004 at 14:23
My version also has 8 extra live tracks recorded at the Marquee. Oriental beat,Back to mystery city,Motorvatin,Until I get you,Mental beat,11th street kids,Tragedy,Malibu beach

From: Dean Date: August 26, 2004 at 10:34
One of my favorite bands ever! Million Miles Away is simply one of the best ballads ever recorded. As soon as a certain 'person' reads this I'm sure he'll be quick to tell me I'm wrong but screw him. Hanoi and the New York Dolls were easily two of the most influential bands in sleaze/glam. CC-when was your version released? On what label? Are the live tunes the same as the ones on the Marquee disc?

From: whambamglamfan Date: October 18, 2004 at 17:30
This cd is a classic-Death to the naysyers! Hanoi Rocks was/is/and will continue to be one of the most influential bands in history. Look at the entire decade of 80's glam/sleaze metal. Need I say more? Everyone from Motley Crue to LA Guns to London owes these guys homage.

From: danoq Date: September 12, 2005 at 23:43
You have to have this record if you are into anything late 70' or 80's rocknroll. Hanoi set a trend that is copied still today. They are what other bands of this cloth are measured by. I agree that if Razzle was not killed they may have put out some smash releases. This record has good songs, band plays real well, & Mike Monroe lays down some beautiful horn lines throughout, this record also has some great guitar tones. Ask ANYONE from Finland. No matter how old they are. They know this band

From: rick kerch vzla Date: December 18, 2011 at 19:33
A good party Sleaze/Glam release by Michael Monroe & C.o.,according to some experts this is one of the band's finest moments musically talking...for me it is just fun all over !!!...my faves tracks are "Up Around The Bend"(a cover song originally of John Fogerty),"High School","Underwater World","Boulevard Of Broken Dreams","Futurama" & "Cutting Corners"...85/100

From: Buitre Date: May 15, 2013 at 9:21
This is Hanoi Rocks at their best moment, not a filler or a bad song. A very inspiring record which still spins regularly on my turntable. 87/100

From: Auslander Date: May 13, 2021 at 5:40
Some would say Sleaze Rock is the bastard child of The Rolling Stones and David Bowie. But no, that bastard child was the video "Dancing in the Street" featuring Jagger and Bowie in must wash eyes moments... But, Hanoi Rocks set the look and scene for our LA brats. This 1984 album kicks off my best sleaze rock albums per year 1984-1993. Of course "Don't You Ever Leave Me" is one of the best sleazy ballads released, Boulevard of Broken Dreams is awesome and Up Around the Bend is one of the bestest, loosest covers of a CCR song you could imagine. Prime Rib Sleaze BBQ grade A.
