Their last disc 'Lemon Tongue'/'Dreamland' pretty much divided fans of the band because of it's modern Rock style. I liked most of it, especially tracks like 'Lagavulin' and 'Into Me Into You', but I must admit, I did hanker for a bit of the old style Classic Honeymoon Suite. Thankfully the new disc 'Clifton Hill' goes back somewhat to the older sound, pretty much losing all the modern rock'isms that dogged them on 'Lemon Tongue', but still keeping a modern, up to date sound, tracks like opener 'She Ain't Alright' summing this up perfectly. There are a couple of really excellent ballads on here aswell, 'Restless' is a lovely track, followed closely by 'Ordinary' which is a really nice tune aswell. The rest are all good, up tempo tracks with no real fillers I can hear. The band sound excellent, especially Johnnie Dee's Vox, Production is really nice and crisp and all in all, this is a pretty damned fine album, that after 4 spins so far, and is getting better each time. |

This is not bad at all. A good, solid and consistent effort. 'Tired O' Waitin' is my favourite song; a nice modern melodic rocker. Most the songs are pretty good, with 'Ordinary' being another favourite of mine. Nice ballad. In comparison to Loverboy's album from last year, this does pale... but for Honeymoon Suite, this is a good album. |

Nice album with perhaps a touch of modernisism. The Loverboy latest album can be the closest comparisson as Geoff said (maybe Loverboy's album is a little more edgy than this one).I'm not to much of saying this is the old HMS sound (is there any song sounding here as "What Does It Takes" or "Stay In The Light" or "Feel It Again"???...doubt it)but i guess music has 2 evolucionate.I'll give this an 85/100 |

An improvement compared to their Lemon tongue/Dreamland disaster...which is not that hard to accomplish. There are actually a couple of decent songs on this one (Ordinary, Separate lives), but it's clear they will never reach their 80s status and quality level anymore. |
