Just found out about this band from watching a movie. I'm amazed of their talent and vocals. Should have been a top performing group in the 80's along with journey and def leppard.

This album is very good melodic stuff. So sorry they recorded the same album with the weak Pete Sandberg, and the production is crappy pop shit like. Jim Jidhed is the better choice, after he left, the band began to suck.

A friggin' clssic!! I remember hearing the song 'Brave New Love' as the closing song on the movie 'The Blob' (of all the weird places songs wind up!). I promptly went out and bought the album. Love every song! Get the Euro pressing however (this one with the ice palace on the cover), it contains different (and more) songs than the US pressing and they are much better. One of the songs on the US pressing is a Carpenter's cover song!?

So poor cover art that you might think this is not a worth of dime... Well, you're WRONG!! I bought this record once and while I was listening it first time, smile came out on my face track to track. Real great tunes and good AOR vocals on it! I recorded from LP to CD and sent it to my big bro and it was he's fav for a long time!

I cant believe it. ONE song is good on this one. 'Jaime remember' the rest isn't good at all. I cant find any grooves on this album...boring! But with all the positive reviews, I have to give it one more chance.

By chance, watched the last 30 secs of the blob (and i think the movie sucked) but was blown away by the song at the end and found out that the band is called Alien (somehow they released a mini album in 84 or 83 and was disbanded according to sleazeroxx.com but to hear that there is a great album released in 88?? best year for most AOR bands anyway. its a must buy now that with the new House of Lords and the new to be released Europe

That's trully amazing. Songs like 'Wings of Fire' and 'Tears don't put up the fire' just put them at the same level (if not better) as Da Vinci, Treat, Europe. Production is the weakest point.

It's dangerous to make comparisons to other bands and if you do so make sure you are spot on. So forget the above comment about Zeno. It sounds nothing like it.

I am a big Fan of this Band.My favorite Singer defently was Pete Sandberg. He has the Magic in the Voice that Jim Jidhead will never have.My God what would happen if Sandberg had sung on this Album as well.It would be fantastic.Do yourself a favour and buy Live in Stockholm from 1990.Pete rules Alien.

This is pure magic from my home country, and it's solid Scandianvian hard rock/AOR along with Glory's Danger in this game. In Sweden we say 'pudelrock' to this music.. There were lot's of those bands in the middle of 80's with big poodle hairs and did always had a keyboardist in the band. How can you forget 'Dreamer', that song really blows me away!! What a great solo by Tony Borg.. This song is a classic in my book! I give it 10 out of 10. Excellent disc, buy it or die!

i always was very surprised by the comments about this record.rock time (french magasine specialist in melodic rock) said "a classic, a masterpiece, the top of scandi a o r, ect ect...).for me this album have nothing extraordinary it s simply an average scandi a o r realise.not more.

A great album for sure. Classic? Possibly, but realistically no. The production is very weak and has zero balls to it, and there are also 1 or 2 songs that are slightly filler. They are not poor songs but just not up to the rest that are on offer here, and that is the reason i would never rate this more than a 9/10. Strangely the original demos of some of the songs here are incredibly superior to these supposedly 'highly pollished' versions. The original demo for the song 'Mirror' for instance is totally mesmerising, whereas on here it fails to go anywhere and never reaches the heights of the demo version. Such a pity. Great album? yes. Classic of the genre? Should have been, but unfortunately No, not quite.

This is one of my all-time favourite albums of all-time. I remember the first time listening to the song 'Brave New Nove' in the ending credits of 'The Blob' and it completly blew me away. The only low point in the production. The rest is simply stellar. Too bad that Jim left the band so early and they never recovered after losing him.

They didn't re-recorded the album with Pete Sandberg. Pete sings in two songs: 'The Air that I Breathe' and 'Now Love' to introduce him as the new vocalist. Some songs were remixed.
|
From: titothetitan |

They weren't huge bacause Jim quit the band so early and then they [the original line-up #2] dissolved in late 1989 before the second album could be completed. What happened later (Shiftin' Gear) is another story as bass player Ken Sandin stated in a interview: "We didn't know about Shiftin' Gear until it hit the stores. Something we were not happy about it. We thought it was going to be a Tony's solo album, not Alien!".
