Superb debut from melodic act who are simply fine! Every song on this one is good, 'New Thing' was the hot single. A must for melodic metal-pop fans.

Derek frigo's dad is Johnny Frigo, one of the greatest jazz violinists in the world. He used to play with the Dorseys and stuff--Count Basie, the Marx Brothers. Enuff Z'Nuff's vividly colorful and psychedelic stained hypnotic music is inspired by Sex,Peace and Love,60's melodies with a 90's glam sound.'New Thing' used to be called'Get High on a Blue Thing' but was changed in fear someone would confuse 'Blue Thing' for Valium. This album is one of my fav's!, and to Poser Spirit-Peace Bra!

Great debut! I don't understand the posts labelling this as 'surf music'. This is completely different. Enuff Z'Nuff should have been the Cheap Trick of the 90s, but they made some bad career moves. I like all of their albums, but the first 3 are my favorites.

SleazyMusic hit the nail right on the head...The Beatles of hard rock, at least with this release. But, the only problem with having an album this good, people expect you to make it AGAIN and usually, that leads to disappointment. But, E.Z. has had a pretty good career and they've released some pretty fine albums. Get high on a new thing indeed!!!

Pretty good debut album that stands the test of time. Came out at a time where EVERY band had those big dumb shout-it-out gang choruses (not that that's bad) so something like this with a bit more subtlety in the songwriting probably flew over your average 'hair' metal fans head. This disc has a great groove throughout and still has suprising depth to it for being released in 89'. Worth checking out again!!

'New Thing' is awesome. 'For Now' is my favorite. The lyrics are really cool and it's catchy. I wish Donnie wasn't such a Fvckup.

Grande Caralho Duro! Estás muy cierto! El cantante es a holy colo de puerco! Esto niem llega a sier piedra... recomiendo algo even mais duro than Juanito Lima, like Esquide Ró, Mótele Cru or algo bien más orientado para adultos adoradores de cosa dura entrando en sus orellas like Diez, Faruarnén or Dirija, Ella dizte.

First time I listened to 'New thing', i couldn't believe tgis was real. The Beatles applied to hard rock! I got astonished, but the rest of this album is sooooooo good that i could never believe a band like this be so good. This one and 'Strength', the best ones. Even more, they are two of the best albums from all rock and roll history. If you like melodies and simple but excellent songs, Enuff Z'Nuff is your band. Perhaps, the best band from last 20 years.

What a great melodic album! Chip and Donnie were an excellent song-writing team, and Vic Fox was a fantastic showman drummer. Frigo was a pretty good guitarist too.

Its very rare for a glam band like this to exhibit maturity especially on their debut album but its what EnuffZNuff showed. It's in the melody, not very much on their lyrics. I love Derek Frigo's playing. Very flashy. He belongs to the list of greats. And the entire bands playing is just right. They're not the greatest but gelled together perfectly.

To me these guys were glam ONLY in image. This album made a huge impact on me but I could never get into any of the others. I do own several but they never stay in the cd player very long. On this cd everything gelled together perfectly. However- the vid for New Thing was just a little too um.... for lack of a better word..gay. Other than that this cd is awesome. Vintage Beatles rockin' out with vintage Cheap Trick.

Don't listen to Mike. This is a fabulous album. Incredibly catchy choruses ala The Beatles and Cheap Trick. This debut is very uplifting and emotional, much like all of Enuff Z'Nuff's releases. One of the best debuts in 80's pop metal. Don't hesitate to pick this one up.

The best band in the universe and of all dimensions! I don't have words to express how good they are. Beatles meets Led Zeppelin! What more can I say ? Highlights are all songs, from the first one to the last one. The kind of record you listen all songs and when it finishes you still listen to other songs! Don't waste your time readin' it, listen it!!

In my opinion, these guys were the only band who really did this kind of thing well. The older type rock with a days-of-old vibe. This is an excellent debut and shines where so many in this style bore. 'Fly high Michelle' is a beautiful ballad, 'For now' is a splendid melodic rocker and 'I could never be without you' is a ballad of legendary status... to me anyway. I love that track, but overall this is a very good disc.

Their best album ever!!!"fly high michelle"is one of my favourite power ballads-true gem."For now","I Could Never be Without You"are also great ballads-they have very good and very "strange" melodies. They were different than other bands of that era(not just their music but also their dress)."New thing" is great rocker and ofcourse their 10. track is superb. Well done!!!

This is another band that you either love or hate. I love the early version, didn't care for the later. They lost me after "Seven" but this was a very good debut. A fun disc loaded with vocal and guitar layers and harmonies not heard outside of Styx or Journey but much, much harder rock. Played it ALL the time in '89. 90/100

Very different from other bands' albums released at the same time. This has a sort of power pop feel to it and is certainly unique. The vocals and the songs seem to fit this style of music perfectly with most of the album being very, very good. The only complaint I have is of the ballad Fly High Michelle which I think is a bit too soft. New Thing and Hot Summer Girl are brilliant songs.

Great Debut!!!...i agree with some comments above(the good ones obviously)especially the one wrote by Dean in 2004 where he said that the Glam of the band was only in their looks because mainly(and is not a secret for anybody who knows the band)they are more towards the power pop sound of Cheap Trick & The Beatles..."New Thing","Fly High Michelle","Hot Little Summer Girl","Little Indian Angel" & "I Could Never Be Without You" are my favourites...recommended album...93/100

Great songwise pop-rock album, but the mix by Paul Lani is just average (Lani never got the best drum sound, ever). The lead guitarist Derek Frigo, RIP, was a shredder of great technique. Funny how his cool playing, recommended by the label and not Vie/Z'Nuff, made them suddenly get several record label offers. But yes, he was a VERY good player, gone much too soon. And his father, heard on Strength, was a virtuoso too. This I found a great testament to Derek's talent, if any don't get it: Chip Z'nuff: It’s been so many years since Derek Frigo died. Do you miss him? Oh yeah. I think of him every time I listen to the old records.

From: endtimes |

He played on our debut record up to through the 7th record, and Derek had a lot of fans, just a really talented musician, and no one can ever take that away from him. He was one of the greatest guitarists ever, and everyone looked up to him, a real rock star, great looking. Even legends like Eddie Van Halen and Joe Perry, they’ve all acknowledged him! Derek almost played on a Mick Jagger solo album just before EZN got signed. Mick Jagger: "I love Derek, but I don’t know if I can control him.” It was between Derek and Joe Satriani. A lot of rock fans totally forget, or don't at all know about Derek Frigo or EZN, but being up against a "guitar god" like Satriani is beyond HUGE. A very cool story, nicely shared by Chip.
