Very similar to the later Demos for diehards release by Erik Turner, but has a slight edge due to the quality of performers on this disc! Well worth searching out if you love Warrant,Southgang,Slammin Gladys & Roxy Blue! |

hey cc, where can i pick this up? I know I am not suppose to do this but i'm desperate. |

Aorquest-if you go looking for this make sure you don't mix it up with the horrible Hollywood Underground disc that was put out in '88. I remember buying that one because it had a cool cover-it went straight into the garbage. |

This is an awesome disc of demos! 'Girl' is as good to me as the best of Southgang, 'Arms of love' is JSS at his best IMO, 'Faraway eyes' is as good as any Warrant ballad, and the rest, especially a lot of the ballads are good LA style commercial hard rock demos. Very good release! |

...but with a horrible sound quality. I agree with Geoff about the songs, but be aware about the production: not even acceptable. |

were there any other bands by the name of hollywood underground? or were there any other releases from this band? info please |

@Phaffas: there where another 'hollywood underground' released in 1988. they sounding abit dark. If you mix Billy Idol, 69eyes with a touch Throbs and London after Midnight you get those music what the 1988 Hollywood Underground were playing. If you like dark-goth-glam with some synthesizer in it,go and get it, its fucking hard to get the 1988 release, i found it at ebay. If you looking for more Glamy Sleazy Stuff like Taimi & his Cats, PBF, BBB, Hanoi, M'tley etc. dont buy this. |

Poor sounds, great heart!!impossible to sell even if the production is weak but they are demos'I think so this is an excellent piece of melodick hard rock!!! |

Sure it sounds like this was recorded in the bathroom of the Rainbow Bar and Grill (in between the beers and blowjobs) but song wise this is 100% Classic Sunset Strip grade A tunage. The list of players says it all, with members of WARRANT, SOUTHGANG, KEEL and others jamming on some high caliber cheese with the odd bit of Beef thrown in. Standout track's are 'Arms of Love' featuring Jeff Scott Soto and 'Best I Can', both of which deserve a proper production and would grace any classic Hair Metal release from the Glam Metal glory dayz. 60/100 |

This cd is as good as anything Warrant's released since Cherry Pie. Sure, the production is a bit thin, but the songs on here are as catchy as they come. Just hearing Jesse Harte's voice on "Girl" is alone worth the price. Some very good rockers and cool ballads make a nice mixture here. I wish Turner and Dixon would do another side project like this. It's a shame this is getting extremely hard to find these days. |

Production sucks worse than a cheap Dust Buster from the dollar store, but the majority of these songs are actually pretty darn good. If you can get past the subpar sonics, you'll be rewarded with some above-par tunes that rival the best of Warrant, Southgang, Eyes, etc. This is the kind of catchy, commercial hard rock that cannonballed out of every club on the Sunset Strip back in the 80s, meaning it should be right up the alley of anyone who lurks on this site. If only it didn't sound like it was recorded in an empy garbage barrel buried six feet underground... |

some people here have really no idea of hard rock disc a good ..... if I have read it is a poorly produced disc I could throw up even more ..... but I could puke when we compare the disc with billy idol ! just let people comment on the finger away from if you can not even distinguish a cat from a rabbit! |
From: CC | Date: December 25, 2010 at 8:55 |
andi, nobody compared this disc to Billy Idol. They were talking about the other band called Hollywood Underground. I hope I am reading your comments correctly, as am guessing English is not your first language, but I agree that the production is nowhere near as bad as some comments seem to suggest. Yes, its rawer than a lot of albums, but its hardly a bad sound to my ears. |
