Lejos de la complejidad instrumental y el derroche de tècnica que lo caracteriza,TONY nos sorprende con esta placa, orientada hacia un hard rock - aor, plagada de buenas canciones,y con un vocalista sencillamente extraordinario.Sobresalen las baladas, especialmente TAKE ME BACK,y otras joyitas como WILD RIDE,ESCAPE THE HELL,TEAR IT DOWN,THE HARD WAY.Album muy parejo, bien producido y de un notorio buen gusto.8,50/10. carro_martin2000@yahoo.com.ar

I think ALEJANDRO likes this although my Espanol is a bit lacking. Not as lacking as this album though, I try to listen to this wimpy disc every couple of years or so just to see if I made a mistake, but dammit I just hate this. I'm okay with things that aren't in your face rock 'n' roll, but the songwriting is also lackluster. A real shame seeing as how talented he is too.

I love this album! Great virtuosity here yet Mr. Shredder maintains a level of accessibility........Not as good as M.A.R.S. but worth it all!!

I am with robert on this one. I bought this c.d when it first came out and I keep liking it more than ever. this is a outstanding album, great songs, great guitars overall a clasic. If you grew up listening to aor/hard rock from the 80's early 90's this is a must have.ups I think I am gonna listen to it again.....:-)

From: aTomiK Date: November 2, 2003 at 14:38
Perfect album!! All songs just rock! I´ve been listening this since 1990 and it still amazes me. It´s a shame that they broke up after this one..10/10

I made a big mistake and thought this was another all-you-can-wank guitar instrumental release. When I heard big Def Leppard style choruses, HUGE production and vocals (!), was I ever surprised!! A CD that every 80s rocker should have in their collection.

From: kcallen5 Date: December 23, 2003 at 20:37
I played this disc a ton in the early 90's. It had a great production job on it and Tony's playing was insane. I liked hearing him play with a singer for a change and thought that this disc was a couple years late otherwise it could have pushed a video or two that could have been thrown around Headbanger's Ball for a while. Good combination of upbeat, driving tunes with the slower ballads and back beat tunes.

I love it! i found a vinyl copy of the album a couple of years back! and listen 2 it reguraley. Precission! i think is a good word 2 describe 'eyes of the world' every solo is perfect in a melodic sense, the vocal harmonies are all spot on, wicked production, i was suprised by the overall quality of song writing on this album aswell, catchy hooks, awsome riff's, all the musicians are 1st class, macalpine obviously showcases his talents a bit (but why not when ur this good) one of my favourite's,

Extremely underrated album, which deserved a lot more credit and attention than it got. A shortlived affair I'm sorry to say - because I suspect that that the followup would have been even better.....

From: AOR freaky Date: February 1, 2005 at 2:41
Right Lynchomaniac, this is a very good CD. Even more AOR than hard rock !

This was my very first buying in CD format in 1990... Damn, I'm old.

Que temaso para empezar este buen trabajo "The World We Live In" un tema de Melodic Hard Rock/AOR de un nivel muy bueno que buen album de Tony MacAlpine de aquel año continuando con este impresionante album esta el buen toque de "Escape The Hell,Tear It Down, Wild Ride Tremendo el tema, Cry A Tear, que toque tan mistico, Wrong To Love que balada inpresionante, y un temqa que me gusta mucho Summer's Gone y para finalizar este buen trabajo el Urban Days" un disco muy parejo a toda marcha!!!!!

Great album full with catchy melodies and amazing guitar solos especially in the tracks:Take me back and Cry a tear, that solos...drive me crazy and the others songs are a lesson of the more finest AOR hard rock,if Tony Macalpine would follow this same style all of us were happy and the melodic rock would have another God,melodies and virtuosity, something more? 9/10.

From: edwithmj Date: December 6, 2009 at 19:11
Great album. Very catchy songs mixed with virtuosity from all musicians and great song writing will surely appeal to most on this site.

Shame on me! 20 Years ago I listened to this album once and put it away fast, disappointed. It wasn´t the M.A.R.S thing I expected from Tony Macalpine. But now I´m older and wiser :] This is a fine Aor/hardrock album. Two songs with a big DEF LEPPARD influence in the chorus and the ballad TAKE ME BACK is brilliant!

From: edwithmj Date: March 12, 2013 at 19:17
My last comment didn't do this justice. This is without a doubt one of the best melodic rock discs on this site. The World We Live In is a sort of semi-ballad with environment themed lyrics and the vocals and harmonies are out of this world. The Hard Way and Escape The Hell are hard rockers with the latter having a slight progressive edge I feel - both have amazing vocals. Heartache Calling is a great ballad unlike any other I've heard. It's slightly depressing and the vocals really drive through the raw emotion that powers the song. Tear It Down is a keyboard-driven rocker that delivers punch. Take Me Back has a perfect acoustic intro. Wild Ride and Cry A Tear are a couple more rockers with the latter again having a slight progressive tone. Tony MacAlpine adds his truly unique style to this disc and the rhythm section able assists him. I'd like to know what happened to the masterful Alan Sehorn as I'd have loved a follow up to this disc.
