I wore out 3 of these cassettes before I found the CD. It cost me $57 on ebay, but it's worth every penny. I still can't figure out why Lillian Axe re-released all their cd's but this one. It was by far their best.

From: The PATMAN Date: October 19, 2001 at 21:45
LILLIAN AXE, by far my favorite band of all time. every LILLIAN recording is great, but LOVE and WAR is just a hair above the rest for me. Lyricly, vocaly and melodic yet heavy. They created songs with mood and structure above the rest.To say the band or this album rocks would not be doing them justice. In my eyes the were underdogs in a oversaturated rock market during the end of the 80's and early 90's and never got thier just due. But in my heart and mind they were the best. giv'em a listen!!

My 60 year old mom even likes this, it's so damn good!

From: HG Date: February 16, 2002 at 20:43
My favorite from these guys. Melodic but not wimpy. Sleazy and meaningful at the same time. It's hard to find those combinations. You will have to pay dearly for this one, but its worth it.

Lillian Axe best album by far!

From: Reno Date: April 10, 2002 at 23:25
I got a bootleg video of Lillian Axe from ebay. They get together once in a while and play clubs. They still sound awesome after all these years. Steve Blaze and Ron Taylor together rank right up there with Tyler/Perry, Lennon/McCartney, and Page/Plant. I'm pretty much sure that I'll never get sick of their cd's. They still get played daily

From: JOURNEY Date: May 4, 2002 at 5:19
MASTERPIECE!!'GHOST OF WINTER' IS VERY BEAUTIFUL SONG AND MY FAVORITE!!! YES, IS VERY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

From: Date: May 31, 2002 at 5:27
MASTERPIECE. Couldn't find it on CD in Spain so I had to burn a copy from my vynil, but it is worth the effort.

For all the Lillian Axe fans out there, they have a new website up and running. www.lillianaxecentral.com. They just finished recording a double live cd in Houston Texas and will have a new studio release out soon.

From: WEST OF SUNSET Date: August 9, 2002 at 19:55
At least i have this cd as a not official relase that have the same quality as the original and it costs me only 14 EURO (14$ ).It´s asuperb cd. Here in Spain you can found for 14$ sealed cds like The 2 first rare cds of Hurricane, China sky, M.Thompson, in cd and you won´t find differences with the original relases. Killer relase, crystal-perfect production work and superb songs. For me the best songs are All Is Fair In Love And War, World Stop Turning, Ghost Of Winter Fool's Paradise and Letters In The Rain. I think that this cd is the real sound of Lillian Axe.But as always, and underrated band and a hard to find CD.The music bussines would start to change.AMAZING CD FROM AN AMAZING BAND. 9'5/10. So, after a superb debut what was to follow? An even better follow-up!! Every single tune on this record will blow your minds! It is unbelievable how the quality of the songs is the same all the way through, from the very first track to the last one. Do yourself a favor and go buy this album!

From: ROB GARCIA Date: January 19, 2003 at 11:55
a true masterpiece in the genre.every song is a winner!,probably their most classiest album of them all.no matter what this may cost ya ...............buy it!.

What would be the best song on this CD?...anyone??

From: TheRipper Date: March 5, 2003 at 0:34
That's a tough question as there are so many good ones on that... It could be any of 5 tracks I think... With that being said, last time I brought mine out to crank I was really liking 'My Number' but that's just me... As always, Lillian's Excellence gets a 10 no problem...

From: Reno Date: March 5, 2003 at 3:09
I preferred track 4,6,7 and 8 myself, but to tell you the truth, I never find myself skipping through this cd. I usually listen to the entire thing.

From: jason (FA - Q) Date: March 5, 2003 at 4:16
That's nice....

From: Jayglam@hotmail Date: March 17, 2003 at 13:19
I give this a 10/10. This would be in my top 3 Hard rock releases. Every song is a classic. Stevie blaze the guitarist is a genius and Ron Taylor voice is one of the best. I'm glad I bought this for $15 when it first came out in 89 this CD goes for big bucks now. I had the album cover airbrushed on the back of my Leather jacket when I went to America, too bad my hair covers the whole design. Every track rocks, especially Love and War, she Likes it on top, Worlds stopped turnin, My Number.

From: Johnny Cash Date: August 6, 2003 at 22:01
Great album. It cost me $100 AU on eBay but it is autographed by the band and goes off. All's Fair In Love + War, Ghost of Winter & World Stop Turning and Show A Little Love are some of the Axe's best work. Ron Taylor sounds pretty tough on this album while Stevie's guitar work is excellent as usual. If you like 80's metal grab this album. I like bands like Def Leppard, Warrant, Van Halen, Queen, Danger Danger, Kiss, Motley Crue, Thunder, Steelheart, you get the idea and these guys rock!!

From: Dean Date: December 29, 2003 at 16:14
Easily one of my favorites of all time. Since i was a huge fan of Girl at the time this came out-I flipped over their cover of 'My Number' This disc was a little bit more somber than the first one but it still kicks ass. 10/10

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 9, 2004 at 10:44
Another one I have on vinyl... one of the best 'hot chick' album covers of the 80s, and a great album too.

Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
From: Blue Charvel Date: January 9, 2004 at 10:50
Indeed a great album, and you point out possibly the only advantage of vinyl over CD or cassette...size DOES matter, especially when you're looking at all those awesome chick covers from back in the day.

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 9, 2004 at 12:58
Blue Charvel: 'only advantage of vinyl'? Come on man, vinyl still rules. Any time I dig into my crate of LPs it brings back tons of great memories. You can find tons of oldies on LP cheap as hell these days too. Vinyl Junkies unite!

Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
From: Blue Charvel Date: January 9, 2004 at 13:29
Well I would be lying if I said I didn't have any vinyl...actually have somewhere around 7-800. And they do indeed bring on the nostalgia. I just prefer the ease of use and portability of music in digital format. You're from Jersey too, you know how it is, anything to save a little time...

From: Fat Freddy Date: January 9, 2004 at 13:52
Well said Blue Charvel. I agree, CDs do rule when it comes to convenience and portability, of course, and I now have far more CDs than I do vinyl LPs, but sometimes it's just fun to kick back on a Sunday afternoon, fire up the turntable and spin some old vinyl. Cassettes suck though. If I'd known what a pain in the ass it would be to replace some of my burned-out tapes with CD copies now, I would've bought a CD player a few years earlier and saved myself a lot of time and heartbreak.

Heavy Harmonies Volunteer
From: Blue Charvel Date: January 9, 2004 at 15:11
Hell yeah, I'll drink to that! Cassettes...what was I thinking?!? I hate even thinking about the $ I've had to spend replacing unusable cassettes with CD's (White Lion's Fight To Survive being one of them...). On my turntable at home right now is Tangier's Four Winds...not something I'll replace on CD anytime soon, but it's definitely cool to pull it out now and again for a listen...

From: Dean Date: January 9, 2004 at 22:35
Boy- talk about a subject i can relate to- cds are cool but having the original vinyl still rules. I've got over 2000 thousand tapes and the things are more or less worthless nowadays- hell- they don't even sell that good on ebay. Give it a couple of years and they'll be like 8 tracks.

From: TheRipper Date: January 27, 2004 at 5:13
'89 masterpiece in my opinion. Just love these guys' sound. My favorite tracks are the opener and 'My Number', great melody with attitude and power. Not a weak tune on here though, I like em all. Check it out if you haven't already, as it's a good place to start, although S/T, 'Poetic' are good too; heck even 'Fields' is awesome too; but them in this phase of their career is my personal fav...

From: AOR freaky Date: January 27, 2004 at 11:45
Hmm. . ., never been a big fan of this band. I consider them as having had a lot of potention, but they never realised it. This album is not that good, more a case of : so/so ! Not bad, far from it, but far from memorable. The songs aren't catchy enough. No, nothing special, but I know a lot of people like this band. So, make up your own mind.

From: Lou Date: February 3, 2004 at 11:59
This album isn't so bad. I'm not a big fan of Axe. I think show a little love is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard..I can't beleive the ebAY average price for this is $36.55 wow! I didn't pay nearly as much..only cost me about a buck. Like a good dollar burger at McDonalds or Burger King! ^_W

Killer album with killer tracks. It is the best LILLIAN AXE cd and if you don't have one in your collection then go get this gem.It is outstanding.Although I also like their other cds but this one gets my highest rating.

From: Enrico Date: May 5, 2004 at 19:40
Probably many people will not agree but I'll write it: MUCH better than Motley Crue and stuff like that. Superior sounds and songs. Just my opionion!! Anyway, definitely their best album.

From: TheRipper Date: May 6, 2004 at 0:33
I can see a comment like that. This album just has that something you know; and I find that people who find that same "something" about this album rank it among one of the best Hard Rock albums of all-time. I for one am BIG fan of this release too, classic '89 stuff here. Not a weak track to be found.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 13, 2004 at 2:41
There is a reason why this album goes for so much on ebay. Just great top of the line hard rock. Songs like the title track will never get old. This need to be re-issued more than any other out of print cd there is. 9/10

From: jose.spain Date: June 23, 2004 at 8:35
First time i listened to Lillian Axe was when I was only 17, and it was this album. I got astonished. God, what a voices, what a melodies, what a songs!!!! I love this album, definitevely, one of the best hard rock creations of the 80'.

From: ellegood Date: July 29, 2004 at 3:41
Does this album have an official reissue? I do find many cheap copies on eBay and the seller told that it's an official reissue, but I cannot find any info about it on the web. Thanks.

From: Kip Date: August 26, 2004 at 12:33
Lillian Axe is my favorite band of all time too. This album is a must own (All of their albums are) This and Poetic Justice saw the best band ever at their peak. EVERY SONG ON THIS ALBUM IS GOOD. I have 500 CD's and this is the only one I can say that about. Blue Tears' album has 9/10 good songs, most albums have 1 or 2. This has 10! There's a reason this CD used to fetch $50-$80 on Ebay before some guy decided to make fake copies.

From: Geoff Date: August 26, 2004 at 20:24
Brilliant album, beautiful cover - what more could you ask for? Simply excellent release! 'Worlds stopped turning' and 'Ghost of winter' are two of my absolute faves, but I love 'em all!

From: ptw Date: October 17, 2004 at 22:05
Brings back memories. Man I love this record. I got teased for having the cd. But at the time I went to a wedding where I saw my 2nd cousin I developed a major crush. She was incredibly fine. Anyways a great time and awesome record that always put me in a great mood not matter what.

From: Dreamaholic Date: October 31, 2004 at 3:23
Absolute perfection! I saw "Show a Little Love" on Headbanger's Ball in '89, but wasn't crazy about it, so I bought this on tape. As soon as I popped it in and "All's Fair" started kicking my ass, I realized I had made a mistake buying cassette but lived with it. By the time I wore the tape out I couldn't find it anymore. Finally found it a couple years ago for $8 and haven't seen another since. The high eBay price is justified, this is probably my favorite CD of all time!!!

From: brett sixxx Date: November 4, 2004 at 6:39
A classic! I was absolutely stunned by the sheer quality of the record. One of the best in sleaze/glam, an all time favourite!

Picked this up as soon as i saw the video for "Show A Little Love" way back when big hair and leather pants were cool. A really excellent slab of 80's hard rock that i still love to this day. For anyone that doesn't fancy the e-bay price on this, you can download the whole album on the Lillian Axe website for free. Get it, play it, close your eyes and rejoice in a time when men looked like women and women loved it!!!

From: zinatra99gt Date: February 18, 2005 at 18:30
I can tell u right now that this is in my top ten. One of the best and most underrated albums ever. How come this never made it big, is beyond me. This shoud've been bigger than Guns N' Roses. Sorry Axel. But Ron Taylor's voice just sent shivers up my spine...especially when he sung the two ballads of the album. Very good material here. I have enjoyed every album they did. I have yet to listen to Fields of Yesterday. Time to dim the lights and pop the christyle.

From: keeper Date: February 23, 2005 at 6:27
Average album, some catchy tunes, same lyrics over and over. Too much noise for nothing IMHO, everyone's saying they're underrated , but i think they stand were they should, just above average. Although there's one of the best ballads i've ever heard in this , called "The World Stopped Turning". So for this one only 5/10

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 31, 2005 at 21:56
Good-Decent album only that, I agree with Keeper, Lillian Axe quiza uno de los grupos que mas e escuchado y no a colmado mis expectativas, este algo mejor que su primer disco hacen por momentos Hard Melodico, Hard Rock, Sleazy, Glam sin un patron bien definido aparte de una voz promedio, Show a Little Love la mejor para mi gusto si hubieran mas cortes asi seria otra cosa, la version de Girls y Fool's Paradise estan Ok, 6/10 nada mas. solo la verdad duela o no.

From: spankthechimp Date: October 30, 2005 at 17:50
I don't agree with the latest post at all. This is an incredible album and probably could be said it is their best work. I'm bidding like crazy on ebay to get a copy again right now. DON"T MISS OUT! I listened to this album for a year solid and it is still a favorite.

From: mauricio Date: December 27, 2005 at 17:02

GREAT, GREAT ALBUM! POSSIBLY MY FAVOURITE LILLIAN AXE ALBUM. IT WAS RELEASED IN 89, THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN HUGE! VERY HARD DISC TO FIND AND EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE ON AMAZON ETC. DOWNLOAD IT FROM THE LILLIAN AXE SITE!. "MY NUMBER", "SHE LIKES IT ON TOP", "FOOLS PARADISE" UFF ALL SONGS ARE GREAT!

From: poproxx2007 Date: November 8, 2006 at 11:12

Yes, awesome cover! Album also kicks ass. You won't be disappointed with this top class glam rock CD. Everything about it is very melodic; produced well also; like you would want glam rock to sound. Enough sugar sweet catchy songs to top a wedding cake; also has some bite to it; 8/10.

i loved"Show a Little Love"when i heard it on radio and diceded to get the whole album.i admit that i expected more so i was disapointed at first but then it just grew on me.firs track starts fenomenally,"My Number" is great rocker."She Likes it on Top" is good too but a little bit too pop orientated and "Ghost of Winter" sure is quite too long but after all is great song.Their sound was quite different than sound of bands of that genre and era but at the end i must say i

From: Put-Put Date: August 12, 2009 at 2:39
What a Shame that Lillian Axe never broke into the mainstream this is one of the best melodic rock albums ever and Ghost of Winter is still the best Rock-Ballad i ever heard

From: JamesEagle Date: October 21, 2009 at 17:52
For me, only White Sister's debut beats this in terms of AOR and Hard Rock. All brilliant songs, perhaps 'World Stopped Turning' is slightly ahead of the others (an absolute belter of a song) but the others aren't far away. Nothing else by Lillian Axe comes close, but that isn't saying much - most bands never get near this level of songwriting. Class.

Great release by Lillian Axe. It's almost as good as the debut with excellent tracks like She Likes It On Top and Fools Paradise.

You know how there are some girls you just want to bang and then forget about, never have to ever see them again? Well, this CD is not like those girls, because once you've had your ears pleasured by this masterful level of melodic hard rock, you'll gladly come back for more over and over again. How can anyone not love this CD? Not only is it Lillian Axe's magnum opus, but one of the best releases in the history of the genre. This release has it all...the big guitars, the powerful vocals, the razor-sharp hooks...nothing is missing in action, as close to flawless as you can get. If somebody ever tried to take this album out of my collection, they'd have an unholy war on their hands.

An absolute "MUST HAVE". Definitely in my top 10 melodic hard rock relases. Brilliant guitar solos, charismatic vocals, melodic tunes, rhythm section with energy, no fillers.
