They were part of the NWOBHM movement but this sound more like MELODIC HARD ROCK. Cool album.

Been trying forever to get this old Gem and hope that it lives up to the expectations.

Any fan of Dalton, Treat, Talk of the Town, Snake Charmer, Alien, Bad Habit (After Hours), Harlot etc. can safely plunge into these waters without fear of cracking their skulls open on what appears to be a thrash/heavy metal/headbangin' release. Very refined stuff, with great big keyboard outbursts, soaring vocals (like Harlot) and excellent sense of melody. Favorite tracks: 'Anna Marie' and 'White Fury'.

This cd is great! Tons of keyboard-laced AOR here! They have an even more rare EP on vinyl. That one is actually better I think! 9.5/10!

I bought this for 20p off a car boot sale in London in the 1980s and GAVE IT AWAY to a mate... you telling me it's work over $100? Sheesh.

From: zld Date: February 15, 2005 at 12:45
Don't believe the hype about this record. Only 3 songs are just oke, the rest is crap. There is hardly any guitars on this record; it's really boring and lame keyboard-stuff.

From: georgeangel Date: May 16, 2005 at 10:49
Maybe one of the rarest cds around. They have started as some called them a 'copy' of Europe for the song 'White Fury' (it reminds Final Countdown),their 'Hit'.They have lots of keyboards and less guitars without being pop but truly AOR rock. This is one of the MUST HAVE albums,if you ever get the chance to buy it since its ULTRA-EXTREMELY-MEGA RARE gem, just get it.I have two copies from 1987 and a LP, bought them in London. If you are interested for more email at wildangelfree@hotmail.com

Wow! i cant believe u guys remember Winters Reign, i picked up their The Mini Album on Casette for 50p at a hmv store in Dublin in the middle 80's and became an instant fan going to their concerts all over Ireland, I even auditioned as a keyboard player for them, but wasnt sober enough to make an impression. Those were the days when there was no shame in a guy wearing spandex,I dont think they'd stretch that far anymore, I have both their casettes if anyone is interested.

Excellent keyboard-driven AOR/melodic hard rock with great vocals, comparable to bands like Raw Silk, Shy and Fate. Defenitely a must if you like these kind of bands. Not really any weak tracks to be found either, just great stuff all the way. Recommended...

Good AOR/Melodic Hard-Rock album, bueno hablar sobre Winters Reign es hablar de otra banda de culto en esta movida tanto este album y el anterior(que es mejor IMO) son 2 albums ansiados por todo verdadero coleccionista de estos estilos, en cortes Anna Marie, White Fury, Call Your Name, I Don't Know Why, Take It Away 5 grandes cortes del mas magico AOR y Hard Rock Melodico, si puedes conseguir estos 2 albums considerate bendecido, en onda Raw Silk, Fate, Shy es decir lo mejor.

Hi folks. Nice to see such glowing comments about our little album. I'm Robbie the singer on The Beginning. Ah, those were the days.

From: Don Date: December 6, 2007 at 3:41
This album is definatly one of my all time favourites. Practically every song on the album is brilliant, but 'Tears Fall' is my favourite. Not just because Phil and Thin Lizzy are my favourite band, but the music and lyrics are a perfect example of a Rock Ballard. I saw Winters Reign live well over 100 times back in the 80's (those were the days) and spent many the (long) night sitting with the band in the bar after their gigs. I have several signed copies of the LP's and Tapes (not for sale)TOP

I listened to the album at vibrationsofdoom and I thought "Anna Marie" and "I Don't Know" were KILLER songs. "Tears Fall" is a great ballad, too. "White Fury" could've been killer if it wasn't for the cheering crowd interrupting. The rest, I'm not really big on but I wouldn't call it a bad album!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 2, 2010 at 20:56
Ok here we have what they called the long lenght album, a lot better than the mini album,at least more consistent..."White Fury" is a very good track,"Anna Marie" is definitevely a highlight,i think it was a hit back in the date,"Call Your Name" is in the same line as track #1,"Tears Fall" is a very sensitive ballad, very nice indeed,"Pushed From Behind" has some Outside Edge,Honeymoon Suite" feel,"I Don't Know Why" has a Virginia Wolf type of sound even in the voice line, this song is a highlight too, shamely the next 2 tracks are a low peak, nothing relevant honestly then comes "Take It Away" which puts the album up again but the last track is another low peak...both releases are acceptable if u like AOR,but when buying one of the 2,take this one first.87/100
