A little more polished than the first album, but good none the less. The focus on this is more commercial, but how can you go wrong with this line-up. A thoroughly enjoyable CD.

From: koogles Date: January 1, 2002 at 17:46
As a consistent, cohesive album, this is vast improvement over the first Giuffria CD and the performance of a lifetime by David Glen Eisley. Absolutely indispensable. Some of the best ballads this side of Journey ("Girl", "Love You Forever" and "My Heartache") are on this CD. Plus, there's the timeless "I Must Be Dreaming". If you love Journey or keyboard-rich AOR, do yourself a favor and get this "Silk + Steel" CD!

PERFECTO CD DE AOR,IMPRESCINDIBLE PARA LOS PURISTAS

From: Desslar Date: April 5, 2002 at 11:49
A few decent AOR tunes, but the rest is just plain silly. Heavier than the first, but not heavy enough.

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: July 15, 2002 at 11:03

From: BERNARD CASARIN Date: July 26, 2002 at 23:22
IF I COULD COMPARE...I CHOOSE THIS BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE AOR BALLADS HERE THAN THE DEBUT ALBUM. RATING: 8.5/10

From: Date: August 6, 2002 at 10:30
This is a well polished album with both Rockers and Ballads and done nicely on guitar with little known then Lanny Cordola of House of Lords. Keep on Rockin

Kind of a mixed bag here. One of the reviewers is right on here in that this is basically a Journey album just done by another band. The ballads here are SSOO sugary & lightweight that if you drool at the mere mention of Journey & REO love songs the you'll go ape-s@#t over this!! David just sings the heck out of this stuff and it's worth it alone for "I Must Be Dreaming". In 86' something tells me some guys in suits MADE them do this material as opposed to the band doing what they wanted!!

From: Date: April 20, 2003 at 12:51
Whatever happened to Giuffria?

From: anamal Date: April 20, 2003 at 15:00
last i read he was livin somewhere close to vegas and had something to do with designing video games or something of the nature

From: Jason Date: May 4, 2003 at 22:18
Never got familiar with these guys. Only heard a few songs by them. A reunion would be cool but it's doubtful that will happen after all these years

From: THE_ROGUE Date: June 5, 2003 at 13:36
Great album probably one of DAVID GLEN EISLEY'S finest moments. I was sad to hear that CRAIG GOLDY had left the band, but DAVID SIKES did a fine job on this album. If you go to http://www.nehrecords.com/shop/enter.htm you can get the French release of this album for only $12.99 + shipping and handling. I've ordered from this site many times and have always been impressed with their speed of shipping.

From: Alejandro Date: June 26, 2003 at 7:40

The extra song that the new Axwe Killer reissue got is called "Say It Ain´t True" from the Movie Gotcha! This one is a classic for all tehe lovers of Hard Rock and AOR....90/100

From: John Date: August 13, 2003 at 15:47
Definitely more consistent that the debut as they decided on a style and stuck to it throughout. 9/10.

From: 80s man Date: August 27, 2003 at 11:16
I used to hear harder bands, but this one catched my attention. When I first heard iI MUST BE DREAMING and LOVE YOU FOREVER in the radio, I liked the band. Too bad that those glorious days of the 80s are gone, those bands were the greatest. Now, what are out there are bullshit...

From: pablo Date: September 6, 2003 at 9:32

From: Magnus Date: September 7, 2003 at 7:30
WOW! I love this cd!! If you're into AOR music,go and get it!

A nicely done album, with some KILLER vocals by David Glen Eisly, but a bit too sugary with all the ballads. "I must be dreamin" is pretty decent!

From: Rocker76 Date: October 14, 2003 at 16:40
"Change of Heart" is killer AOR/melodic stuff. Like "Lonely in Love" on their debut, this tune has all the trademarks of prime 80s melodic rock. Gregg Giuffria is awesome and the guitarist is dead on. Anybody know what he's up to now? I did hear Gregg G. is doing some kind of real estate stuff in Vegas.....

From: Date: January 29, 2004 at 23:44
BEST-YEAR-AOR, you do a very nice list. But when you mention Survivor or Journey albums, how can you forget TOTO - FAHRENHEIT? Is this not an AOR'86 pearl? Probably is the best one of all.

From: K.K. Poland Date: April 11, 2004 at 4:46
what can I say... this is one of the greatest AOR albums ever, many songs here is really fantastic, Radio, Change OF Heart, Lethal Lover, No Escape etc. fantastic guitar hooks,

From: TIM (2) Date: July 13, 2004 at 9:23
Eisley has just never sang as well as this again, he really pulls it out of the bag on here. The same big sound as the House of Lords debut, this has some great moments and some not-so-great moments. The first 3 tracks just blow you away, and "Radio" is killer AOR stuff, but towards the end it all gets a little patchy. The highs are good enough to make this pretty essential, but it's not the epic that the H.O.L debut would later be. 8/10.

From: Rocker76 Date: July 13, 2004 at 9:35
Personally I prefer House of Lords to Giuffria; but then again the styles are a little different so it's not exactly an accurate & fair comparison (the HOL stuff is more hard rock than Giuffria). But this 2nd Giuffria album is an AOR legend in my book. "Change of Heart" and "No Escape" are simply perfect. The combo of G. Giuffria and D.G. Eisley was flawless and Lanny Cordola still stands as one of the great underrated axemen. (Even though he's not listed above...) A classic piece of AOR!

Know what? I got this album [cassette, not CD] few weeks ago in a used section. There are two 'new' tracksd. The first is "Say it ain't true", and after I read some comments here I find it is originally a movie soundtrack. Another track called Never Too Late. Anyone has information about this song? Love You Forever is my favourite track. Better than the debut.

From: Chad Date: November 26, 2004 at 22:44
Classic. First owned this on cassette. Side one was labeled SILK for the softer tunes and Side two was STEEL which of course was the more rocking stuff. I prefer this to the debut. David Glenn Eisely shines on this album. His best work for sure. Best cuts: I Must be Dreaming, No Escape, Radio and Tell It Like It Is. Although there is not a bad track on the album. A must for any Hard Rock/AOR fan. I can't speak highly enough about this one. One of my faves all time. Highly recommended.

From: Kim HP Date: December 30, 2004 at 17:12
Good cd, but I don't really like the ballads on this one(except for "Change of Heart", which is one of the best of that era). "Lethal Lover" is a good up-tempo track, and so is "Tell it Like It Is". I do like AOR, but for some reason this album is not one of my faves. Good stuff anyway.

From: rick kerch Date: February 9, 2005 at 20:20
Even better than the first one

From: Geoff Date: February 15, 2005 at 19:56
This is one I must hear again. Very good melodic rock, and I love 'Change of heart'. I was glad to see the guitars turned up a bit and I do prefer this to the debut, purely because the debut is so overly drenched in keyboards. Not actually sure which one has the better songs because both have great songs... just a little too many keyboards. I personally don't mind keyboards to discretely fill a sound, but not to make and direct a sound. Perfect keyboard album for me is 'Organised Crime' by Treat

From: JORGE CODA_ROCK Date: February 21, 2005 at 11:44
ME PARECE UN BUEN DISCO D HARD/AOR,COINCIDO CON LAS CRITICAS,UN POCO MAS DE GUITARRA HUBIERA ESTADO PERFECTO SI ASI,ESTA BUENO ESTE DISCO,CON UNOS SOLOS UN POCO MAS MELODICOS Y POTENTES EN LAS BALADAS Y MAS RAPIDOS Y ELABORADOS EN LAS CANCIONES RITMICAS ESTE DISCO HUBIERA SIDO UNA OBRA MAESTRA,LA VERDAD LO ACABO DE COMPRAR Y LO COMPRE PORKE LOS MUSICOS DE LA PORTADA SE PARECIAN MUCHO AL ESTILO DE LOS D EUROPE,PERO ME LLEVE UNA GRAN SORPRESA AL ESCUCHARLO,RECOMENDABLE PARA LOS QUE GUSTAN DEL AOR

From: Dan Friml Date: March 17, 2005 at 10:49
The cover is absolutely terrible, but music is fuckin' great! Highly recommended!

From: Lennie Date: April 13, 2005 at 13:33
The Journey comparisons here are questionable? What we have here is a good solid pure AOR album with plenty of keys and just enough guitar to keep me happy. Some songs are a little cliched like 'Radio' but some are absolute killers like 'Change of Heart'! It must be me but I think that 'I must be Dreaming' sounds like a Neil Diamond song??! Dont get me wrong though this is a classy release which is only let down by a dragging end to the album which disappoints slightly. First half is ace.

From: TONI MALLORCA Date: May 1, 2005 at 14:25
EL DISCO ESTA MUY BIEN PERO EL PROBLEMA ES QUE HAY CIENTOS DE BANDAS QUE SUENAN IGUAL,PERSONALMENTE ESTA ME RECUERDA BASTANTE A JOURNEY

From: wzcj02 Date: September 21, 2005 at 5:35
Same vibe as first cd but lacks the songwriting. "no escape" is catchy and the bonus track at the end is good. The rest doesn't really get it done.

From: PAUL Date: October 20, 2005 at 11:53
GREGG IS A KEYBOARDWIZARD!And this album even better than the previous and why not better than HOUSE OF LORDS.Oh,these big keybordish intros (do me right,no escape, pleasure palace) are damn good!I can't continue,a "must have".

From: Stravincere Date: May 31, 2006 at 11:56
This album is worth buyin only for the power ballad "love you forever". If you'r in to ballads then this is a must have. The album itself contains som catchy choruses but that aint enough, although arguably it may be forgiven for the ballad.

The only song I have heard before I bought this album was "No Escape" great song, but the rest...quite a dissapointment. Too sugary for my tastes the other song that I¡d pick up is "Dirty Secrets". I can see the silk but where is the steel?

Chuck Wright was playing Bass, He's not mentioned here as credit, Why I don't know. It is a Great Album, lighter than the first one. The Guitars back in those days were alot more imaginative, now it's three chords over and over and over and over...

Superb polished AOR album from AOR gods GIUFFRIA. This one reminds me a lot of survivor-jimi jamison era-. One of the best from good old 1986! A must have. Not as hard to find as their first, so go and look for it on ebay! A++

Gran disco de Gregg Giuffria para mí mejor que cualquier album de su siguiente banda House of Lords aquí tiene mejores arreglos, la producción mejor cuidada, esa voz inmensa de David Glen Eisley no desentona en ningún tema, No Escape entra con una fuerza arrolladora, Love you forever y I must be Dreaming dos medio tiempos maravillosos, Girl otro excelente tema con un solo de Harmonica grandioso, Change of heart guitarras duras y melódicas,Radio hard rock puro,en general grandioso album 9/10.

What else can i say about this piece of jewel..i bought it just when it came out in a lp format and still gets some spinning!!!...songs are timeless here such as the mega ballad "Girl" along with rockers such as "Radio" i mean this album has all, great composition and musicianship lirically and musically talkin'(even though Greeg G as a founding member took the starring of the ship but that is understandeable coz the band was formed around his figure, you know what i'm saying)...anyway a wonderful release from a band that recorded only 2 albums, both actually a must 2 have!..this one?..90/100

I Must Be Dreaming is a cover of Mink DeVille. This is a very melodic album with fewer keyboards than the first one. Eisley's voice is also very powerful.

Just started to find a groove when personal issues and record label drama ruined this band. From what I could here Giuffria III was going to be great. Enter Gene Simmons and House of Lords was born.

very good melodic hard rock/aor release by this band. gregg's keyboards are superb, but for my taste he fitted better in the house of lords music. my faves here: I must be dreaming, girl, radio and no escape.

very good hard rock release by GIUFFRIA and this one is surely a grower!i m ean there are no big hits in it,but after a few spins you realize that all the songs are remarkable and the band really knew what was doing!the sound is polished ,the keys are huge, the guitar solos are short but there is a great balance and overall the result is ok!highlights are "change of heart" ,"radio" and "tell it like it is"
