"Ranging from paino balladry, to sweaty, organ blues rockers, & progressive ensambles, Heep found this winning formula & followed it throughout most of their career during the Byron years. In late 1972, they were in the process of polishing it to perfection. If any album can be isolated to give a glimpse of Heep's personality, this was it. The band had profitted by their internal chemistry as well, stabilizing it's lineup for a second straight album, producing solid musicianship & imaginative lyrics. The album continuity flows rather flawlessly & finally closes with an epical tale of a mythical mystic. Overall, a superior group effort that solidified Heep's credibility and debunked the media trashing of yesteryear. |

URIAH HEEP at the time was a great live band and had just released a great album like Demons & Wizards ,so i really cant understand why they were so in a rush to release another one in the same year!Magician s Birthday doesnt have the songs ,the hooks and the right vibe and cant find any big moments in it for URIAH HEEP!certainly there is a quality but it didnt do for me |
