This is all sung in Danish from what I hear. It recently went for $762 on Ebay and that's around the average. Some claim it's very wimpy AOR- any comments?...recommendations?

Haven't heard 'em yet although I'm from DK but from their name I'd say it's pretty wimpy. You can learn more about them on: www.rockdoc.dk...I'll translate the titles: 1. Something wrong, 2. Right Now, 3. It's wrong, 4. Tonight, 5. Where are you, 6. Say Goodbye now, 7. The Light, 8. If we Could, 9. Watch out.

Recently found an original copy of de De 5 in a 2nd hand shop when travelling through Denmark - around $6 only of course ;-) To set the records straight, this is AOR (sometimes bordering into Westcoast teritory) of the highest order and De 5 were also known as the danish TOTO at the time. Lots of great guitar solos by Torben Johansson all over and Michael Elo has the perfect AOR voice. For me De 5 are playing the best AOR that Denmark has ever produced! Apparently there were only 500 CD copies p

continued: ....pressed in 1985 (made in Germany). the vinyl version is much more common of course. They had a 2nd album in 1986 by the way. Unfortunately they switched to a smaller record company and it didn't get a CD release at all. What a pity as it is even better!! I heard this piece of garbage. Even as westcoast, it's terrible. They try so hard to copy Toto and can't pull it off. It's all sung in DANISH too. How many people know Danish? What a waste of $762.

Depends on whether you want real rarities or not I guess...But you're right, they should have sung in English...There are only about 5 million people speaking Danish so they probably don't appeal to many outside the boundaries of DK...

This may be unpopular, but I really like this one. Great vocals and guitar. I think it would have made it in America and the U.K. had the lyrics been in English. May be too lite for some, but if you like the Westcoast style of AOR then you should like it. I don't usually but this one sounded great.

This is a huge huge rarity. I heard about the band 2 years ago at a bar in Hamburgs Rockcafe and the DJ said it was the best AOR he had ever heard even though he didnt understand one word. Yeah a pity to sing in danish but I dont think they intended to broaden their music first....Well Ive never heard it so I cant make any comments on it and since Im not a Toto fan at all I better keep my silence haha....

Great Dane or Kristian, is the other De5 self-titled also? I can't find anything that says otherwise. There is something in Danish on the plastic though.

Hi Tim, yes it's self-titled as well! This one's not available on CD however....what a shame!

Yes, this one is. The white one is not. The cd goes for $762 on Ebay because it is rare. I've seen it about 3 times there.

I spoked to a danish friend some years ago and he claimed that both are released on CD.

Wow, that would be a true sensation!...but to be honest I will only believe this when I see a copy or a scan of the actual CD myself. Does your danish friend have that 2nd CD himself?

I agree. He just mention that he have seen both on CD in Denmark.

Very enjoyable AOR album with catchy melodies and sung in their native language...Danish.....good or bad choice?...to break throughout the world?..yes,obviously but probably the band thought about just being well known in their own country rather than exposing themselves to compete in the furious world of,may i say, worldwide bands(crazy statement 2 say but quite true if u see it in a perspective way )..anyway,songs..."Noget Galt" very good starter,"Lige Nu",great, smooth & catchy ,"Det Er Forkert" excellent one,"I Nat" this one is a personal fave, liked it a lot,"Sig Nu Farvel" ala Toto of that stage,"Lyset" is a nice Westcoast kinda song,"Hvis Nu Vi Ku" sounds like what Jojo(German band) did years after with their release(maybe the used 2 listen 2 De 5 in the past ) and to finish a cool one "Pas Pa"..in general lines this is a very pleasant and overall interesting release,if you like "obscure" bands but with plenty of quality, then try this act..nice vocals, nice melodic AOR.85/10
