with out a doubt one of the best partying bands of the 80's.this album brought kix to stardom.probably their best known,and best made albums they did.powerful and fun at the same time deffinatly a must have.

You have to buy this release just for the track called 'Cold Shower'. Killer tune that is an anthem of 80's rock from KIX.

This band was outragous live. You always got your money's worth with these guys. This album is a Glam Metal classic. How sad that many Rock fans knew nothing of these guys. Highly recommended to buy this CD.

U r right...I saw these guys plenty of times in the late 80's in Long Island NY..mostly in front of small crowds...I actually got to get on stage once and belt out midnight dynamite with Steve...My favorite Kix tune of all...A great great band...but they never had the glam look..possibly why they never were huge....I too hope for a reunion one day...they were/still are a great band from the 80's who didnt get their deserve...quote the WidoMakr....never more

Another big part as to why the band finally 'warmed up' on their third album, 'Midnight Dynamite', must go to Ronnie Younkins' joining the band. Alongside Brian F., they embodied a perfect hard rockin' blues, AC/DC-inspired guitarist duet. If any of you have ever noticed, many-a-band have made their breakthroughs on their third outing--Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers ('Damn The Torpedoes'), DL ('Pyromania'), Poison ('F&B'), Dokken ('UL&K'), Iron Maiden (NOTB), etc. KIX should get back together.

Great album! Cool licks plus the vibe make this a no-brainer to own! By the way, dokken6008, I wouldn't exactly call Poison 'F&B' their breakthrough. Their debut was bigger & 'Open Up...' was bigger than both!

I have this album. YES! ALBUM! Not on CD or tape. You know, those 12' black disc's? When I listen to this album I make sure to play Midnite Dynamite, Red Hot, Scarlet Fever, and Lie Like A Rug. Although this has some great songs, I still like Blow My Fuse better over all.

ThunderDan--I like to think of 'Flesh & Blood' as Poison's best & least 'juvenile' of all releases. Perhaps 'Open Up And Say...Ahh!' was their real breakthrough with hits like 'Every Rose..', 'Nothin' But A..' and 'Fallen Angel'. Poison's first, 'Look What..' was chalk-full of filler, so I'm not a big fan of that album besides the hits. The least filler (in my opinion) being 1990's 'F&B'. Speaking of third albums, though, I figure Aerosmith's 'Toys In The Attic' was Aerosmith's breakthrough cd.

The great album which made kix KIX. One of the best glam albums of the year 1985 together with RATT's 'Invasion Of Your Privacy'. And I think its musical quality gave way to a greater album 'Blow My Fuse' later.

All RIGHT now! THis thing blows the snot out of the first two albums. THe vocals scream, the drums pound, and Ronnie's leads are ear-splitting! It lags just a tiny little bit toward the middle, but not so you'd notice much. Best tracks: 'Midnite Dynamite,' 'Sex,' and by far the best, 'COld Showerrrrrrr!' Interesting to knoe is the effect producer Beau Hil had on Steve's vocals. Much of the time it sounds like he's triple-tracked and some of the melody is lost. THis is usually not a problem.

To Baris and all you commercial-fanatic 'Blow My Fuse' people: That is wonderful that you gave into the MTV 'Don't Close Your Eyes' crowd. Now leave us alone. The sound production and songs on 'Midnite Dynamite' and 'Hot Wire' are Kix's absolute best. Werman had some crappy-ass production on 'Cocked & Loaded', 'Blow My Fuse', & some other late 80's albums he produced. Now 'Midnite Dynamite' & 'Hot Wire' on the other hand, have SUPERIOR production to that crap we hear on 'Blow My Fuse'.

NO amount of digital remastering can fix the damage that was done on that record. Tom Werman must have been working with very bad equipment at the time. Refer to the 1992 release of SteelHeart's 'Tangled In Reins'. IT was Werman produced. The difference? The sound on 'Tangled In Reins' is phenomonal! Do any of you pay attention to producers, engineers, or the mixing on your cds? Maybe you should. Don't take good sound production for granted. I never will again after buying 'Hollyweird'.

I just wish they'd have left 'Shovel Love' on here. Never heard it myself, but I hate the thought of there being a Kix song I don't have. As far as producers go, Beau Hill is not without his faults here either, Dokken6008. I WISH he wouldn't've insisted on overlaying the vocals so much. Steve Whiteman has said that it's a lot less prevalent than Hill originally wanted. I guess working with Pearcy and Ratt had ol' Beau forgetting how to deal with a real singer.

RATT's cds never really sounded pop-metalish until their last LP with Crosby, 'Detonator'. That was Desmond Child produced. It sounds awesome & is really the only RATT record that has any real pop sensibilities, rather than just being your regular style of rock 'n' roll. Yeah Pearcy can't sing worth a shit, but at least he's distinctive. That is 1 of his few good qualities. As for the excessive over-dubbing on Whiteman's vox for 'Midnite Dynamite', I actually like it a lot. But I'm nuts anyhow.

I saw these guys live with another great band that never quite made it (Teaze...later Roughhouse) Kix was one of the best live bands I ever saw and believe me I saw alot. They rocked hard!

Third time's the charm, all right! Didn't much like their debut, COOL KIDS is a guilty pleasure of mine, but MIDNIGHT DYNAMITE hit the nail on the head. Hard to pick a favorite here as all the songs are great(quite a feat!). Does anyone know why there was a 3 year gap between this one and their next one? In the 80s, bands were putting out albums like crazy. Why the long gap with Kix?

I agree that MD was their best. I think Hot Wire was easily second. I saw them live opening up with Whitesnake. They blew Whitesnake away! The only redeeming thing about Whitesnake was Steve Vai on guitar for the tour I saw. LONG LIVE THE GODDAMN KIX BAND!!!

Saw them live about 4 times, twice at the now-defunct Hammerjack's club in Baltimore. What a band! I love this album best of all from them, and also throw in another vote for 'walkin Away' as favorite. This album ranks in top 10 of all time for me. Probably within the top 5, really.

The vocals, musicianship and production are first rate. However, the lyrics are strictly for teenagers. They write about boys finding out how girls function, which is okay if you are in this age group. If you are older, you will find it embarassing to listen to this. It is a shame, because this is a bright, lively album but it is excellent for teenagers only. Now take a listen to Trixter's ageless, album titled Trixter, and compare the lyrics. You would hear what I mean. Rocktron from England.

Metal Pete ! That's okay, Buddy. Intelligent discussion and debate, and agreeing to disagree, without resorting to abuse is acceptable. I made my comments on first impression after one hearing. To be fair, I listened to the CD again, and yes, it is better than I originally thought. Do remember that I praised it highly in my opening sentence. After "Cold Blood" hit MTV on Headbanger's Ball back in '88, I went looking for all things Kix. To my surprise, I found all their releases on CD. The first 2 releases suck imo, but this is right up there with Blow My Fuse. "Walkin' Away" and "Scarlet Fever" are my 2 favorite Kix songs. I also dug "midnight dynamite", "Red Hot", "Cry Baby", and "Cold Shower". The other songs are ok but nothing special. Definitely in my top 25 album list.

My band backed these guys up in New Jersey quite a few times. We played with TONS of National acts and I have to say Steve Whiteman was the coolest, most down to earth guy I ever met. A record guy showed up to see us one night and Whiteman told the sound & light guys to give us full everything. For those of you who never played in a band, that is unheard of. Best live band in rock, bar none.

Good to seem them establishing themselves as a hard rock band there. Still a very commercial sound, but I really quite like the ballad 'Walkin' away'. Not perfect, but nice. Decent album, but I actually sold this one too. Pretty good hard rock.

I WAS ILL !!... oh so ill ...very very rough!!! Not good at all when this album came out...GASTRO ENTERITIS!!! Fun ! BUT having a new Kix album come through the post from Shades (anyone in the U.K. remember that shop?) cheered me right up and had me rocking around the house...in a very careful way!!! Always thought Kix should've been huge, instead 3rd rate copies like Ratt got the exposure!! This is a great album if you like your rock with a kick and a smile then all the Kix albums are for you!

Kix and Ratt were both excellent bands. Why Ratt made it big and Kix didn't, I don't know but there is no way Ratt is a "3rd rate copy".

Cool Band!sounds similar to AC/DC or Motley Crue(although Beau Hill did gave them a certain Ratt feeling!).there are only 2 complaints on this one:1st,i can't understand almost a word that Whiteman is yealling,and 2nd,there is very poor lead guitar playing(although the band had 2 guitarists!?).i think that's the main reason they didn't make it too big.comparing to other bands of the time like Ratt or Dokken,Kix's leads are close to none!the best solos are on tracks 5&6,by a guest guitarist!(?)

Growing up in PA/MD, It was always an event going to Kix shows. This is my favorite release. It's worth your $$ to check out the Funny Money releases, featuring vocalist Steve Whiteman and now also drummer Jimmy Chalfant. There have been Kix reunion shows in the PA/MD/VA area during 2004 - 2005 with all original members except bassist/songwriter Donnie Purnell. The bass slot was filled by Mark from Funny Money (great vocalist also!). Kix guitarist Brian Forsythe is also in Rhino Bucket in LA.

This should be a staple in your record collection. This is the tighest band I have EVER seen live. And I have seen just about everyone. I have seen KIX in clubs and I saw them on a bigger tour with Ratt and Great White. Amazing guitar sounds. They have a live energy like there is NO TOMMOROW. I have heard they are one of the hardest working bands of that era. The first 2 records weren't nearly this good. These guys had alot to offer. It's too bad they weren't as big as their sound.

After two quirky little albums, Kix finally grabs onto the style they're best known for, a sort of AC/DC-aggression-meets-Cheap-Trick-sugar sound. Actually though, this is probably their heaviest work, adn the title track the heaviest song they ever did. Beau Hill insisted on giving Steve Whiteman the Steven Pearcy treatment, and so the vocals have this strange, echoey sound to them, which takes away from the melodies somewhat. But this was and is the soundtrack to many a party around my particular doghouse. Favorites: "Cold Shower," "Bang Bang," "Sex," and especially that monster title track.

this album is very good, but not as good as hot wire and blow my fuse. The title track is the best here. they are not so hard here as they later became, but hell they make great music.if you don't dance to their music you're probably deaf my favs: Midnite Dynamite, Bang Bang (Balls of Fire), Walkin' Away (brilliant power ballad) and Cold Shower

They're back, to an extent, playing a fair number of live shows around the East Coast. No new material, though, but that's why we have Funny Money. It's the next best thing.

I really like Walkin' Away and Bang Bang was co-written by Kip Winger and is also very good. Not as good as Blow My Fuse over all but definitely their second best album

Leaving the "poppy rocky" style of their 2 previous albums comes this 3rd release of Kix and with a Glam/Hard Rock approach in the songs...plenty of goodies such as "Midnite Dynamite","Bang Bang(Balls Of Fire)","Layin' Rubber","Walkin' Away"(solid softy),"Scarlet Fever","Cold Shower"(their best song ever IMHO)& "Lie Like A Drug" will put an smile in your face surely...recommended album...83/100

I just saw yesterday that Kix is doing for this album what they did for Blow My Fuse a couple years ago: releasing a remixed, remastered, expanded two-disc version. Steve Whiteman commented, quite correctly, on the amount of echo and reverb on the original: it sounds very much of its time. I'm very interested to hear it stripped down a bit, especially given how good the new version of BMF sounds. It's funny, I had read some old magazine articles from the '80's where the band blamed Beau Hill for the sound, saying they hadn't wanted him to triple-track the vocals, or bring in his go-to session guy Mike Slamer to play some solos. Yet Beau has done both remixes. Wonder if he'll fix the weird, chopped-off ending to "Bang Bang?"

On the minus side, and just like Fuse Reblown, Midnite Dynamite Relit is going for $35, which to me is too expensive for what it is. I realize they're probably doing this all on their own, but honestly, it's a lot to ask of all but your most hardcore fans (like me). But of course I pre-ordered it immediately anyway. My other gripe is this: there's so much Kix live material out there. It would be so cool to have, instead of a disc of demos that you'll only listen to once, how about a full-length, vintage live show? Especially for the price. And that goes for any of these anniversary reissues that bands are doing nowadays: fuck a bunch of demos, give us a live show from the period. And finally, I'll use the remaining space to implore the rock gods once more: PLEASE remix and remaster the first L.A. Guns album!

After a one-month delay for a manufacturing issue, I got my copy of the new version yesterday. Just like the Blow My Fuse remix, the sound is much improved. It still sounds like it could have been released this way in '85, but is without most of the echo and reverb that drenched the original. The guitars are louder and beefier. However, I don't think this remix is as big a success as Fuse Reblown, and I'm not really sure why. There are fewer "new" things that you couldn't hear before, like some of the extra solos on Fuse. Also, without the echo and triple-tracking, Steve Whiteman appeared to be shouting his vocals more than singing them, so there aren't as many immediately ear-grabbing melodies. The hooks are more in the riffs, and the chant-like vocals.

On the plus side, the title track is even more of a monster than before, and remains an all-time favorite Kix song of mine. Also - "Scarlet Fever!" This is one song that's definitely improved by the remix. On the minus side: "Walkin' Away" is just not a very good song, except for that riff in the middle. "Cry Baby" is pretty cheesy and dated, in both its execution and general idea - a guy belittling a girl for crying all the time? "Cold Shower" seems to be slowed down just a hair so it doesn't funk quite as hard, and there are some really dated 1985 keyboard sounds now very audible after the solo (still another favorite Kix song though). The bonus disc is, as expected, good for one listen, and would have been better used for a full, vintage live show. And the packaging: when I attempted to put the booklet back, the sleeve came completely unglued, so now the flap is loose. I used to claim this as my favorite Kix album, and still do love it, but now I wonder if BLow My Fuse might be ...
