This CD is incredible. Probably the most underrated CD of all time in my opinion. Still among my top 10 CD's - the melodies and harmonies are incredible.

I gave this album every chance to impress me and it never did. Christian music-yes. Hard Rockers-NO. I give it a 5/10. It starts out strong but falls off fast.

I gave this album every chance to impress me and it always did. Christian music- I don't care. Hard Rockers- THE FINEST ONES. I give it a 10/10. It starts out strong and it goes on like we've always dreamed.

I lvoe this band! I really want both albums on CD, but its well hard to get them in the UK. Anyone got any good links to somewhere decent I can get them from?? Please!

Bible-belting it out, Def Leppard-style, Nouveaux will appeal to those who subscribe to the whole 'go-big-or-stay-home' theory of record production. I like this CD. And you will too, if you enjoyed Idle Cure's 'The Higher You Climb' track off 'Inside Out' or anything from the Shout/Magdallan canon. Too bad the second release by Nouveaux can't touch this one.

From: vandervelde Date: October 29, 2003 at 18:11
Great release....choruses very similar to Def Leppard....lyrics not so awful like in many christian bands....i think this one of the better christian bands....give it a 8/10

From: wendal09 Date: November 26, 2003 at 12:17
I thought this was pretty decent. Good production, Leppard-like backing vocals and this singer sounds a whole lot like the vocalist from Tower City, and at times like Joe Elliot. The lyrics are not over the top Christian stuff. If you don't read the lyrics and you don't look at the cover (mullets), you'll probably be fairly pleased with this mid-tempo hard rock/AOR piece.

I have this tape AND cd. It is one of my all time faves! I can't believe the harmonies these guys sang with. If I can ever find the second cd, I'll be in musical heaven.

All I've heard is Red, White, Black and Blue, which IMHO sounds similar to Extreme. Is the rest of it this good? This really kicks ass.

From: jessica96fish Date: March 2, 2004 at 20:21
it starts off well enough.with its def lep flavour.then it gets a whole lot softer.reminds me of a slightly harder southern sons and quarterback.worth a try.

From: illimey Date: March 8, 2004 at 21:19
Are you people off your trollies? This is nothing like Def Leppard. At least, it's nothing like the Def Leppard I know - which is everything up to Hysteria. Anyway, as others have said this album is not hard rock! It is a power ballad droolfest - and there ain't nothin' wrong with that!!

From: James Date: March 8, 2004 at 22:26
Hey illimey , I agree with you 100%. as you can tell by my post at the top this didn't impress me at all.

From: jessica96fish Date: March 28, 2004 at 15:14
well all i can say is this cd just grows on you.even my wife has this playing in the car.and let me tell you if she likes it.then thats saying something.and as to them not sounding like def lep.have you listened to the back up vocals on this cd?or are you listening to some other cd????

From: illimey Date: March 28, 2004 at 16:00
Miss 96fish: OK OK so the second time I listened to this CD I was paying attention right at the beginning and there was a definite Def Leppard sound for a moment or three. But overall, nope - they don't sound like the Leps I know (which as I said is everything up to Hysteria - maybe Lep have wimped out since then!). Actually, I do very much like this album - wimp rock rools! I am the world's biggest Magnum fan, after all!!

From: CrossFire Date: April 5, 2004 at 20:38
I am the biggest Def Leppard fan that I know of...lol. I have followed the band very closely through the years, and I have even spoken to Paul Alan of Nouveaux. He has expressed that 80's pop metal was a heavy influence on the first album, Beginnings. It's obvious they can't flat-out copy Def Leppard's style, so they just pay an homage to their sound while at the same time they are bringing in some of their own stuff. I love this album and I have been listening to it for 10 years now. 10/10

From: TIM (2) Date: June 3, 2004 at 12:52
Really good CD. Slightly more AOR than Def Leppard, but good comparison. 'Hurt so Bad' is my fave track. Those that liked this would probably like Paul Allan's solo release 'Falling Awake' from a couple of years back. One of his songs appeared on Kelly Hansens Perfect World album, but Allan's version is way better.

From: Geoff Date: December 29, 2004 at 1:25
I really quite dislike a lot of Christian metal, but this one has it's moments. 'United we stand' and especially 'All that glitters' are great tracks. But overall, this one isn't too preachy, the band sound very tight and there are some razor sharp melodies. Good solid effort.

From: kipvanpearcy Date: September 7, 2007 at 19:06
Good CD, I too usually disklike christian rock (nothing against christianity, just keep things separate) but this one has some pretty catchy songs. I'd say they're more like Blue Tears than Def Leppard, but anyway, it deserves to be heard so go for it.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: February 19, 2011 at 9:09
That 'bigger is better' approach popularized by the likes of Def Leppard, Blue Tears, etc. is nothing new, but rarely has it been done in the Christian melodic rock realm as well as it's done here. Huge backing vocals are the highlight of this album, but that's just the beginning, because also on tap are hooks big enough to snag Moby Dick, massive choruses that Desmond Child would have been proud to pen, and a monster production that would impress even Mutt Lange himself.

From: rockhardrock Date: February 19, 2011 at 14:22
great harmonies, melodies, choruses, backing vocals on this christian rock album. their sound is a mixture of extreme's, def leppard's.really great stuff to listen to when you don't just wanna party but really enjoy in it spiritually. almost every song here's got great chorus at least, but my faves: united we stand, all that glitters and hurt so bad. some other day I would probably wrote other tracks as my fave.

From: Reverend Mayhem Date: December 28, 2012 at 8:47
The CCM version of Extreme, very much going for the whole 'funked-up hair metal' thing of the era (mid-'90s) with tight-as-a-duck's-ass choral harmonies throughout. I do detect a bit of the Def Leppard comparisons, as the singer is reminiscent of Joe Elliot and the production has that shiny, ultra-slick 'Pyromania' touch. This is quite an impressive outing, musically -- the band is really kickin' and the harmonies are amazing. I just can't get behind the whiter-than-white, cornball lyrics that make them sound like a funk metal version of the Brady Bunch. So yeah, it has me torn: on the one hand, the musical effort is really killer -- on the other, the lyrical themes are nauseatingly powder-puff. My remedy is to listen to only a few songs at a sitting, tuning out as much of the overdone whitebread lyrics as possible while digging on the band homping away. Recommended if you like pumped-up Christian jamboree music. 70/100

Excelente album y uno de los mejores dentro del hard rock melodico cristiano, todos los temas sobresalen, un album sencillo con grandes composiciones, muy recomendado!

From: hair metal again Date: February 15, 2018 at 5:17
excellent debut for NOUVEAUX with the quality being on the highest level!big production, sensational vocals ,decent songwriting and overall a band that s very confident !smooth hard rock sound ,very polished and commercial that reminds me of a lighter WALL OF SILENCE maybe!all the songs are remarkable and to me this little indie is a must have
