Every time I’ve seen this CD on ebay (not many) they always talk about how rare this gem is, but they never mention how good this album is. This is one of the best AOR/Hard Rock CDs out there, hands down. It's also one of many CDs I've paid a three digit price for, and let me be the first to say "It was well worth it". Monro plays a style best described as Winters Reign mixed with the keyboards and melody of Da Vinci. For fans of Shelter, Shy, Hot Boy, China, Alias, and Simon Says. Metal 4 Life

I dont have the album but i have a 7"single and a 12"maxi-single of this album and the songs are not bad but i am not going to look for the lp or cd. If you dont buy this album, you are not going to die ha ha ha

"Here comes the night" is an outstanding track. Brilliant melodic-pop-rock. But most of the rest is very light and not impressiv!

One of the best albums from one of the best bands of the eighties. Worth every penny. Its a pity the band split shortly after making this album.

Really very good AOR/Hardrock record. Vocalist sounds exactly like Harr Hess of Harem Scarem. Check out American Girls..what an anthem...i love it!!

Great AOR album, aca doy un giro de 180 grados y comento este gran album de AOR por momentos con sus toques Pop y algo de rock machacon, temas con buen ritmo Here Comes the Night(mi favorita por ese sonido misterioso que tiene), Open Up Your Heart, Lonely People, Some Girls, Rock This City album muy parejo y con buen gusto, un pedazo de disco y nada conocidos que digamos, Recomendado 100% para todo amante del buen sonido, sin duda lo disfrutaras. saludos del Ave Fenix el Inmortal.

Outstanding release!!! Probably one of the best British AOR outfits. Marvellous production, above average vocals. Uncontested leaders here: " Here COmes the Night", "Give Me Love Again", "Lonely People", "Surrender". Fans of Hot Boy, China, etc will love this mega rarity which was pressed on CD only in Japan. I have no idea how on Earth this awesome band never got enough recognition. This is a very solid release and I am very proud to have The Original in my collection.

Like FM-INDISCRET, CHINA-FIRST or HOT BOY, this band plays power pop melodic rock AOR, very lite. Song quality is not breathtaking, but ROCK THIS CITY and SOME GIRLS are very good ones.

From: TONI MALLORCA Date: August 4, 2007 at 14:45
agradable aor ingles con un pequeño toque de glam,no es ninguna maravilla pero tiene algunos buenos temas como "here comes the night" y la balada "it´s you". lo dicho, no es nada del otro mundo pero se deja escuchar.

Not bad but not great either. Decent melodic rock/aor for 1987 with keys. Singer can be a little annoying. "Some Girls" and "Lonely People" are worth checking out; best 2 tracks on the album for me. Has a few other decent ones but the rest........eh. 70/100

I would describe this as a more "party" version of SHY-Excess All Areas. Released in the same year and has a similar sound/vibe. So if you love that album then this should be in your collection.

Mixed comments above but at the end this album is worth having it,surely is catchy and nice to our ears ...good vocalist(Chris Ellis) and with good backing vocals (kind of the band's trademark! )..."Some Girls" yeah catchy starter,"Here Comes The Night" excellent, liked it a lot,the same goes to "Give Me Love Again","It's You" a pretty nice ballad, then comes the songs that i really enjoyed and far, probably, the best in here "Lonely People"(AOR killer) & "American Girls"(catchy killer),"Princess" rocks,"Surrender" another excellent track,"Open Up Your Heart" it's ok & "Rock This City" ends the album proudly...90/100

excellent debut by MONRO and one more well hidden gem from the UK !it seems that at the time there were many bands there that prefered a more keyboard driven sound but with hard edged guitar solos !this one has it all and i cant really find anything missing,as the songs are catchy, commercial and hard rockin!"here comes the night",it s you","open up your heart " are the best songs here and overall a worth having release!i personally own the Retrospect reissue which is pretty cool
