This was a let down by the immense goals set forth on the band from their fans but this is by no means a bad CD. "New Millenium" and "Burning My Soul" are 2 of the best written Dream Theater songs ever. Give it a whirl and see if you like it!!

A nice intro by "New Millenium". "You Not Me" is attractive. "Hollow Years", "Lines In The Sand", "Just Let Me Breathe" and "Anna Lee" are the best songs. The rest part seems a little bit boring. So it should be a shorter record. But despite all, it is a Dream Theatre album and you know what it means...

yeah, except those above mentioned songs, the album includes some unnecessary stuff. But those songs are enough to make this record a must to have...

This is by far the best prog rock band EVER. They are head and shoulders above the competition !! And this album is their finest ! Bloody heavy, great songs, fine keys etc. What more could you ask for ? Probably the finest musicians in the whole musicscene too !!! A MUST !

Another monumental prog-metal album, slandered endlessly by critics and fans who were expecting DT to repeat themselves. All songs are great, save for You Not Me, co-written by Desmond Child who helped Kiss in the 80s. That should explain how awful this song is. The rest, New Millenium, Lines in the Sand, Peruvian Skies, Trial of Tears and Take Away My Pain are all brilliant. The best song here is Anna Lee, a graceful piano intro, majestic guitar solo and smooth vocals make it one of DT's best.

Another increadible album by Dream Theater. It is just as good as thier las albums and has its own unique, more jazzy style. Lines in the sand is one of my favorites and well all around the songs are just incredible. Another cd you just never tire of.

Holy Crap! I actually agree with Freddy on this one, I see alot of people trashing it, but I think it's got some great work on it. Lots of killer harmonies, and some very emotional songs. Yeah, it's a little lighter than some of their previous work, but that actually didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Spent many a day riding around in the car singing my ass off to this one. Highlights for me are tracks 1,4,5,7,8,9 but I really dig the whole thing.

excellent release by DT with kevin shirley in production achieve the perfect soundrog,clear,smooth,groovy,emotional this one has everything you need.listen to desmond s "you not me","hollow years","take away the pain" and "anna lee".essential for me

Good album that lowered a bit that intensive Prog sound in some ways and experimented different "emotions" in music directions..."Hollow Years"(beautiful song) & "Burning My Soul" are my faves...tracks 2,3,7,8,9 & 10(nice smooth)are also appealing ones...87/100

Most Dream Theater fans hate this album because it's not proggy enough. They act like it's DT's Black Album, their big sellout, which is pretty silly to me. There's plenty of noodling and weird time-signatures and different textures, and all the other things people love about the band, just somewhat shorter songs (but still three beyond the eight-minute mark, and none but the instrumental "Hell's Kitchen" much less than five). Not a very heavy record by DT standards either. For me, the best songs are "You Not Me" on through "Burning My Soul," the two singles sandwiched around "Peruvian Skies" and the magical acoustic "Hollow Years." Your long-ass prog epic comes at the end, in the form of the three-part "Trial Of Tears," and is fine, if you can pay attention that long. From somebody who's not a huge fan of the band, this is a decent disc, and gets a bad rap from the diehards.
