i'm proud for them , because they are from greece . there are no words to say for this cd . it's amazing !!!!!!!

I'm so glad to see this album finally make it out on CD. Previously available only on LP, and a rare one at that! Brilliant AOR filled with keyboards, great melodies and harmony vocals. Reminds me alot of the BLUE ICE from Vinny Records in Spain. If you're an AOR fan, nail this one right away!!!!!

From: Delbert Date: May 1, 2003 at 23:21
Actually, that should be ICE BLUE........duh!!

That is the best record my country could offer in the world of rock.First time pressed on cd,a very rare LP till now,it is a very good record in the scandinavian style of hard rock, lots of keys and stuff like SKAGARACK,makes this album a good addition in everyones collection.Their anthem "Street girl" is played in every party here in Greece.Well done to the boys.

From: Andreas-Gr Date: June 28, 2003 at 14:06
i know them from the end of 90's . i saw them live many many times . i feel so proud . i hear the songs thousand million times and the only i could say it's :it's fuckin' great . i'm very proud for them .

raw silk should have had a fair chance at making an international carrier, but they had the unfortunate luck to come from Hellas, and to release a record like that one in a not so good period when the new decade had arrived.i think that with a good management and a good producer the band could stand proud among foreign bands and actually show that Hellenes have nothing to be jealous of foreign bands of the same genre!!!the cd sounds good as it is,and it is the best cd i have heard up to now from a

Supreme 80's melodic hard rock like King Kobra and Van Hallen. A perfect album that shows that greeks can play supreme hard rock!! An album that every hard rock fan should have! Especially journey of no return is one of the best tracks that europe aor has to offer. Amazing album!!!

SIMPLY MARVELLOUS ALBUM FROM GREECE! very good vocals and fantastic keyboards (songs 8/10,prod 9/10)

From: ARXONTAS Date: January 27, 2004 at 13:47
Not a lot known about these boys, and that's to be expected, as Greece is hardly the AOR-tropolis of the world now is it? After listening to this effort 'Silk Under The Skin' you just have to wonder, what other weird and wonderful outposts around the globe have bands playing up to this calibre? Raw Silk for what it's worth, fly the flag for Greece in much the same way as Elektradrive did for Italy. It's good quality AOR with an overkill on keyboard/guitar interplay, though still burdened with th

that perception of Euro acts from that era who were trying hard to be American. When I first slapped this on, I thought it was Giuffria revisited, but then other UK hopefuls like Tobruk and Outside Edge also get a look-in. Though the keyboards are full-on, the band are blessed with two guitarists, ensuring no let-up with 6-string flurries a plenty!

From: ARXONTAS Date: January 27, 2004 at 13:52
Starting off with the fast paced 'Second Advent', the band mimic British 80's outfits like Briar, Midnight Blue to a tee! Get those fingers primed and ready on your air keyboards as 'Journey Of No Return' is gonna send your digits to hell and back. Even punchier is the album highlight 'Irene' - the interplay throughout will send this one back to repeat play mode!

Raw Silk over-extend their hand on the epic war-tune 'Heroes Don't Cry', complete with helicopter effects, tearful strings, and saluting brass parps. A bit melodramatic dontcha think? For the next tune they leave the battlefield behind and head off into the murky depths of the night with 'Street Girl'. Pretty simple and effective.. the song that is, not the girl! With 'Just Like A Dream' the band emulate the likes of Bad Habit with this poppy upbeat ditty! On the other hand, 'Broken Vows' doesn'

leave an indentation on my ears unfortunately, while 'Fever' unlike the name, is a little too luekwarm for my tastes. Very unfeverish. However, there is a lot of merit with this relatively rare release. Where these guys ended up is anyone's guess. However, the good thing is, Raw Silk is now available again on CD, though the annoying thing about it is the short track time for 8 songs.

From: ARXONTAS Date: January 27, 2004 at 13:58
In any event, you can track it down at Target Records. Email Robert and tell him that George sent ya. You just might get a good deal! Fans of keyboard laced AOR at the heavier end of the spectrum will need no invitation. Review By: George Thatcher WWW.GLORY-DAZE.COM

This is a greek replica of Bon Jovi, yet a good replica. Interesting guitars and colorfull keyboards are accompanied by some solid, unique vocals. Raw Silk might not be a world class band, but yet, there are some great tunes in this album and is absolutely worth getting it. My personal fav nos: ''Journey of No return'', ''Irene'' (it's vibe reminds me of ''you give Love a bad name''), and of course a massive hit in Greece, ''Street girl'' with a chorus that is meant to stick in your mind.

From: gener8tr Date: June 22, 2004 at 18:53
I cannot say this CD sucks, but it certainly doesn't blow my mind, either. The CD transfer could have been mastered a little tighter as well.

From: Yiannis Date: September 27, 2004 at 5:24
Oh, what a memory that CD brings to me! I remember myself in the frontline back in 1989, when Raw Silk was the opening act for the "10 years anniversary" live of Saxon in Rodon Club, Athens (actually one of the best live performances that this planet has ever known!). I can remember for sure that this band had the "touch"... Very good players, excellent stage attitude and a "full hit" playlist! What a memory and what a beautiful album by my compatriots...

I'm known for someone who LOVES sweety-made Scandinavian hardrock & AOR with good guitar work that makes you cry (sometimes), as well as a keyboard heaven (that sometimes makes you cry too). ...And what can I say: Wwwooowwwwww.. what a GENIAL album. It's the best of EUROPE, TREAT, BAD HABIT and whatever the names are!! It's amazing stuff and a MUST-HAVE if there is any for every melodicrock fan

i read all these critics and decided to score this cd, well i guess this is really good the only weakest song in here must be FEVER perhaps, allthough i like it. how about that? a greek band playing like this, playing hard rock this good - now this is quite a nice suprise. maybe a band like this is needed in greece!

From: R.S.- Rocks Date: April 16, 2005 at 7:04
I bought this cd on german ebay last week- for just 1 euro!!! I like it. Did you know that this album got a twin? Check out "Promises" from german band Aidean. Released in 1988 and sounding exactly like "Silk under the skin".

From: Date: April 19, 2005 at 23:58
this band should really reconsider giving it another shot! with the conditions to record an album nowadays and with labels like MTM for example, this band could really come out of silence and start to be more known outside of their country.

From: TIM (2) Date: April 21, 2005 at 12:23
This is a decent CD, lots of keys and brilliantly done and some excellent harmonies. "Street Girl" is excellent, as is "Just Like a Dream", but the songwriting is a little samey and sound is not very punchy. If you love your AOR drowned in keys but with some powerful guitar too and very dated sounding (it sounds 10 years older than it is) then you should enjoy this. Good European AOR, but comparing them to SKAGARACK is breaking the trade descriptions act IMO. 7/10.

what happened to them ? Are they around ? where are they now ?

From: marcopaulo Date: April 25, 2005 at 20:09
on the inside of the cd's booklet was an email adress, i believe it must be kostas kyriakidis's email address, allthough i'm not sure that so-called RAW SILK FANCLUB really exists, anyway if you really are interested in knowing what happened to raw silk try emailing KZKYRIAKIDIS@yahoo.gr hope you get some reply.

From: ArnoldLancelot Date: July 31, 2005 at 23:30
They definitly had scandi influence in their syle but been from greece I guess make them more U.S./canadian styleish! This is a KILLER album with NO, I repeat NO, fillers.Keyboards are EVERYWHERE! with an extremely well craafted songwriting. Production is almost as high as the quality of the release. I would hazzard a comparison with Shooting Star's Silent scream(because of the keys!) but with a happyer mood approach, making all this a real CRIME not picking this up for the 4-7$ average price.

From: Erik Date: August 1, 2005 at 10:19
Well everybody know's i love "my" scandi music ( Dalton, Great King Rat, Skagarack to name but a few )but this gets nowhere close IMO to these bands. Kinda overrated even. 7/10

From: Jez Date: August 25, 2005 at 14:39
To me it this has a more American sound than some of the 'Scandie' bands mentioned. Still it's very good for an independant release with some nice songs and great keyboards (which are all over the damn thing). The production is lacking in places and someone needs to have a word with the drummer to keep up with the rest of the band on a couple of tunes. Better than the Bon Jovi debut?? - I think not in a million years!!!!

From: Erik Date: August 26, 2005 at 3:56
Lol u r right Jez. Better then the Bonjovi debut ? Now thats a good joke. Like i commented before. Ok cd. But nothing spectacular and IMO really overrated and overhyped. Tons of bands that did and do a better job.

HELLO ERIC AND JEZ.I'M VERY PROUD FOR THIS BAND,CAUSE THEY ARE FROM MY COUNTRY AND GLAD YOU LIKE IT!OF'COURSE NOT BETTER THAN FIRST BON JOVI,BUT STILL A COOL RELEASE WITH MANY KEYS,NICE VOCALS AND SOME GOOD TRACKS."STREET GIRL" IS A MUST SONG IN EVERY ROCK CLUB HERE IN GREECE,BUT MY FAV IS "IRENE"- A PERFECT SONG!I'LL SEE THEM TOGETHER WITH PINK CREAM 69 AND JEFF SCOTT SOTO AT 11/09/05,I CAN'T WAIT!HELLO AOR FREAKY, DON'T YOU HAVE THIS ALBUM? Hello guys.Believe it or not!I saw RAW SILK two days ago together with PINK CREAM 69 and JEFF SCOTT SOTO.So,i'am starting the description of the concert...A few people at CLUB 22(the youth here know only the modern/alternative stuff-yes,that crap!)After an atmospheric intro RAW SILK opened with my fav "irene".Only George Florakis and of course Kostas Kyriakidis- the soul of the band remain from the old band.At the beginning the sound wasn't clear and the keys were buried under a heavy sound

From: PAUL Date: September 12, 2005 at 11:09
of hard guitars and strong vocals.Later the sound improved and you can't imagine what happened when they played the hit(here in Greece) "street girl"...PANIC!!!!!!!After a break PINK CREAM 69 went up the stage.i'm not a big fan of their works, but i enjoyed their hits "welcome the night","shame",etc...Very good sound, active on the stage and i think that their singer(from England) is much better than Andy Deris. When the lights went down and the band came out with "livin'the life"(STEEL DRAGON)

From: mauricio Date: December 27, 2005 at 16:23

From: Geoff Date: March 14, 2006 at 20:28
Two comparisons I'm going to pluck out from above are Guiffria and Bon Jovi's debut, because this one does sound like these 2 and they were the first thoughts I had when hearing it. Maybe not AS many keyboards, and a ballsier hard rocking vibe... but this one is very good. I don't think there's really a bad song on it. Consistent melodic hard rock - recommended.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 22, 2006 at 13:17
I forgot to give my rating easily 9/10 Great album only good tracks, esto no es AOR como figura arriba es Hard Melodico con sus Toques de AOR y esa magia que imponen los teclados casi en la misma linea al primer disco de Bon Jovi como bien dice z4roxx un curtido en esta movida, un album con sonido 80's total el rating arriba confirma lo buenisimo que es 4 temas que se llevan la gloria Just Like a Dream, Street Girl, Irene, Second Advent un disco para conocedores de lo mejor.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 22, 2006 at 13:45

From: mauricio Date: May 13, 2006 at 20:13

It's odd I discovered Raw Silk recently sinc they come from my country . This melodic rock - AOR jewel can easily stand by classics of the genre like Giuffria, Terra Nova a.s.o. It's not a downfall they sound american, on the contrary it's an asset considering american bands and artists utmost professionalism . Afer all other european bands sound american as well, there are no barriers or limitations . I think it would be better for them to stick with one basic guitar player . The keyboard work

Hey, this is awesome music and totally underrated. They had to be famous like Bon Jovi...but they are BETTER!!!! The song "Heroes don`t cry" reminds me in Fortune`s "Stormy Love"!!! A MUST BUY!!!! (10/10)

These guys are the bomb! They really kick ass. I sometimes sing "Heroes Don't Cry" on top of the table at the Pier View sea food bar in Malibu, CA when I get shitfaced. I tell ya, it makes people weep!

Hey guys, you make me feel proud to be Greek! 97/100, maybe in the first 5-list of the history! George Florakis, we 're also proud of being fans of AEK FC!!!

Very Good Melodic Rock with some AOR elements. Maybe i don΄t get crazy when i΄m listen it but... it is very good stuff indeed. My favorite song here is "Street Girl", but i know a very good friend who likes this album a lot, and maybe i don΄t share the same entusiasm but... Ok, Good album

Agree with the good comments above ...the only issue was the production(some songs sound weak in certain parts ) but apart from that a very nice album...plenty of keys to satisfy us ..."Second Advent" & "Irene" are catchy tracks that you'll love surely,"Journey Of No Return" is a goodie too...the best ones IMO are "Street Girl" & "Just Like A Dream"...this is a first class Greek band ...93/100

great greek band.the production is decent but could be better so this band sound a little amateur.only 8 songs ,it s a little just.raw silk play a great hard f m very oriented keyboards.tracks 1 and 3 are two top class hard f m songs.the rest is great ,except track 4 (an average song).now this greek import is a raritie.

very good debut for RAW SILK and i remember when this got out it has done a certain impact here in Athens!commercial hard rock music with a lot of keys that could be much better with a decent production and a better singer!on the other hand the songwriting is very very good and the hooks are countless!"just like a dream" and "street girl' are excellent songs!Greek fans should have made this a success ,but as i can recall most of them were listening to heavy metal back then...
