The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular ZZ Top CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.
EPs and CD-singles from ZZ Top are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

The appropriately-titled debut from that little ol' band from Texas is kind of the runt of the litter, just because it features the band in ... not an embryonic state, because their sound is already identifiable ... but the formula just hasn't yet been refined. This is fairly standard blues-rock, quite loud for 1970, but somehow, the boys don't come off like a bunch of young white kids aping black men from a previous generation. Somehow, right from the beginning, they've made the sound their own. So, yeah, not a ton of songs that you would put on a greatest-hits playlist, to be honest, but overall the album is a fun listen - because it's ZZ Top, how could it be otherwise? My favorites are "Brown Sugar," "Goin' Down To Mexico," "Neighbor Neighbor" and "Bedroom Thang." |
