| I bought this when it first came out in 86. It doesn't hold up as well as Saint, Whitecross or Stryper and in 2001, the production sounds a little bland. Not one of the best Christian Metal bands, but not the worst. I would suggest listening and deciding yourself before shelling out bucks on something you're not sure about. I give it a 2 out of 5. Again, not bad, but not great either.

| It's alright. Use it for a "takes me back" only. If you didn't have on vinyl, it won't turn you on.

| This is a classic, a must-have. Granted, the singing could've been better: The chorus on "Voice That's Calling" warbles noticeably! Also, some of the high notes fade away, showing a touch-up job to hide strained vocals. While not always technically perfect, I'd take MP over a lot of other polished groups. There isn't one song that isn't a headbanging keeper. I only wish it had been re-recorded with better vocals.

| "Master of the Metal" may not have the best production values, but on this recording MP shows that they've got the two most important things for a Christian heavy metal band to possess. An uncompromising love of Christ and a sound that will peel your face off and plaster it to the wall!!! Anyone that loves Metal, whether you're a christian or not, should own this!

| This album simply ROCKS! I am a huge 80's hard rock fan and this album is held high in my charts (9 out of 10). It's NO STRYPER, but songs like Battle Cry and Master of the Metal make it a must have. Too bad it didn't have the song Rock the Flock from their previous album!

| I purchased the album in 86 and liked it. I still listen to Battle Cry almost every day...man, what a song and message. I find it a great pick me up in when in a spiritual valley! If anyone has the LP, could you please scan pics and send to lemilyc@bellsouth.net? I would love to remember what they looked like. Also, I think the drummer went on the be the founder for the mainstream metal group "Thunder" in the early 90's who put out the single "dirty love"...good 3 chord rock band!

| Yes, this album is a bit weak from a technical standpoint, particularly production, but the songs are great. Bands like Messiah Prophet, Saint and Stryper took so much abuse from both sides. Ridicule from non-Christians, and even WORSE from the Christians. My local store stopped carrying some albums after complaints that "this COULDN'T be Christian music". Anyway, I still love this album! May God bless them for what they did, wherever they are today!

| A well liked album, one of my firsts, back in the day before "Christian Rock" Chiches became "Christian Rock" Cliches! I got to see these guys live in Pennsylvania! They're from Northumberland, PA. It was cool. Brings back a lot of memories. It has a good metal crunch sound and good uplifting slower songs. The production isn't the greatest, but as one of my classics, it's easy for me to look beyond that. I was overjoyed when I was able to replace my old and worn cassette copy with a CD.

| Classic album, ashame about the production. Great songs great guitar playing heard it again for the time in abt 3 years and my view still has'nt changed from the first time i heard it back in 87.

| I was 16 when I bought this. I was new to Christian "goups" all I knew was piano/organ music in church, and I never knew such music existed. Messiah Prophet was one of the forging forces in Christian music, especially heavy metal. DON'T put them down, ever! Their songs had VALID messages for Christians and non-Christians. I was thinking of MP today and out of no where thought I'd check the internet and found this site. It brought back some great memories. Thanks.

| I've been curious about this album for a long time because, if I'm not mistaken (and I don't think I am) this is the album that featured Youth In Asia guitarist Al Paul, who did some studio work for these guys. He may be listed in the album's credits. I'm not 100% sure about that. If this is the album, I want it for my collection because Al's from PA. and I collect PA. stuff...YEAH!!!! (creeper@sunlink.net)

| Killer metal in the style of Priest. I was way more into this than a lot of the Christian bands. The message didn't seem completely shoved in my face where i felt like i was being preached at all the time. Obviously the production sucks but the music makes up for it.

| This is a classic case of a band's "defining album." In my opinion, I would have happily purchased the next two or three albums (had there been any!) This was released back in the days when you had to buy Christian albums based on the cover. Messiah Prophet, Saint, Barren Cross, and Bloodgood were all purchased by me that way!

| Talk about a band in turmoil. After Master of the metal the band disbanded except singer Charlie Clark, who had a decent voice but what a complete and total nerd (yes I knew him). Their manager tried to put together a new band around Charlie, but when the new band got together they didn't gel with Charlie so they wanted a new singer and started auditions. Mean while Manager was in negotiations with the label over a producer he wanted Bill Grabowski and the label wanted Billy Smiley (Whiteheart)

| In the meantime the label didn't like any of the new songs, and when they got wind that the band wanted to oust Charlie the entire project fell apart. The band did do some dates (with Charlie) opening for Barren Cross (who really hosed them on the sound). And with the exceptions of Charlie I'm not real sure how devoute any of these guys really were to begin with.

| Just thought you guys might want a look at the inside. I didn't know any of the guys before the final incarnation of the band. And by the way the new songs werent to bad. It they would have done will under the care of Bill Grabowski (Bon Jovi 7800f)

| Good Judas Priest-like Christian Heavy Metal. I prefer Rock the Flock, but this CD rocks. more 80s sounding here. Christian Metal was probably pretty rare in 1986. theres one more CD by this band called "Colors"which is decent altought much more melodic and less heavy music.

| Compared to the flawed debut, The 2nd Coming of Messiah Prophet features a heavier Judas Priest-esque sound, better production (but still not great), and some smoking metal tunes, resulting in a minor Christian metal cult classic. I played the hell out of "Heavy Metal Thunder" and "Master of the Metal" back in the day and pretty much ignored the other tracks, but nowadays the only ones that make me reach for the Skip button are "The Friend" and "The Voice That's Calling"; the other 6 songs all deserve to be listened to. Definitely a nostalgia-inducer...for better or worse, they just don't make much Christian metal like this anymore.
