Boy, what a CD ! One of the best AOR albums (with little westcoast influences) ever made! This is a real MASTERPIECE. Listen to the title track. Perfect AOR, can't be better. A MUST !!! BUY BUY !! Class, SUPERB. CLASSIC !!!!!!!!!!!

YES! Freddy speaks the truth! Was I ever glad when this was FINALLY re-issued last year. A dream of an album... Survivor-style, midwest AOR done to perfection. Not a bad track on this CD: from the pounding 'American Heartbeat'-style keyboard intro to 'Runaway' to 707 'Megaforce' style choruses like 'Love Won't Last', this is an AOR wet dream so wet you'll need to post flash flood warnings around your stereo system. BRILLIANT!! The epitome of early 80's AOR. BUY or DIE SLOWLY!

Some idiot (idiots ?) are finding it interesting to destroy ratings given by people like me, who only want to give you honest information. Nearly 5OO ratings to give this fantastic band only a rating of 5. Shame on you, little children ! If you don't like class AOR or music, visit other websites, but don't be childish. By the way, the one who does this (also with Intruder and all other bands I like !): have the guts to say who you are! Now you're only a coward !

Awesome AOR with a touch of westcoast music. A classic record. Great with a CD release after all these years. Their debut is also very good. Released on CD as well. Before the became Datota they called Jerry/Kelly. Released one halfgood record in 1978. That one is also released on CD now.

Rob Garcia said 'The don't make them like this anymore. But, they do! Check out The Last Standing Man, Little Victories, Mr. Lucky, or Deep 6, all by Dakota, who has never stopped making great music. Runaway is one of my all time favorites! I was glad when it was released on CD, because the old cassete tape I had was wearing pretty thin. The bounus tracks are a nice addition.

There is a musical warmness exemplified on the next track 'Tonight Could Last Forever'. 'Heroes' is an anthemic ballad, for want of a better description while 'When The Rebel Comes Home' has a more urgent beat to it. The albums 'piece de resistance' come in the shape of three songs in a row, the magnificent AOR of 'Into The Night' which reminds one of Beau Coup, the super melodic rhetoric of 'Angry Men' and the subtle balladry of 'If Only I'd Known It'. All wonderful statements to AOR music.

My 1st contact with the band was the "Last Standing Man"cd.I was very much impressed by the quality of the album and started to collect any info related to DAKOTA.Already knew that in the early80's had been released 2lps in the vein of my beloved STYX and Trillion, but when i got the remastered cds oh boy, these albus are made in heaven,no doubt."Into the night"is so hooky that once u hearit never forgetit, the awesome"Runaway"opus, let alone"If only id known it"a pearl of a ballad.IMMORTAL CD.

I agree with all the comments on this CD. This is an AOR masterpiece. Songs like "Runaway" , "When The Rebel Comes Home", "Into The Night" and "Heroes" are all KILLER. And the 2 bonus tracks are very enjoyable as well. Highly recommended!

what a classic, just the drums get to me at times, and Danny from Chicago, and Bill Champlin, is he on backgrounds on all the good stuff, wonder why there r no albums by Bill anywhere, Runaway is great, as is the entire album, laid back/west coast aor with some great lead guitar!!! Also, trivia, Jerry in the early 70's was in a band called The Bouys and had a hit with the song Timothy, very cool, I read that somewhere and do remember the song

Yeah, swriter : spoken of a CLASSIC ! This one is SUPERB from one of the world's most underrated acts (together with the mighy Shooting Star !) EVER ! BRILLIANT ! And spoken of The Buoys : not Timothy, which is a cool song, is their masterpiece, but 'Give Up Your Guns', one of the BEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN ! If you don't know that one, check it out immediately, swriter ! FANTASTIC, mate !

Man, another very light one. I do have to say I like the vocals a lot, but not really into this style of song-writing. Reminds me of 80's pop and I can picture a curly haired mullet-owner bopping his head around behind a wall of synthesizers with a massive toothy and goofy grin, which dampens it a litte for me. It does pick up at track 6 though. 'Into the night', 'Angry men', 'Over and over' are all good songs, but not overly into the rest. Another for AOR fans I suspect.

Yes, Geoff : leave this ALL-TIME CLASSIC to the REAL AOR fans, as you seem to realise ! Finally ! This is SUPERB, one of the top 5 all-time AOR albums IMO. PAUL, this one is for you, mate ! We leave Geoff listen once again to Ra and Stryper ! So everyone will be happy !

I wonder if we're listening to the same albums today Geoff. I thought tracks 1, 3 and 5 were the best ones here. Another top notch AOR gem. I've been agreeing with Freaky a lot haven't I? I hope that doesn't taint my reputation any. But this is a balls solid, rock hard AOR effort. This rocks well for an AOR album, its melodic as hell, great vocals, good keys, good production, perfect 80's feel, what more to say? If you love AOR you need this. 8.4/10

Tremendo y auténtico clásico del AOR, así de claro. Inigualable comienzo con Mega-temas como "Runaway" y "Tonight Could Last Forever" y "Heroes", y para seguir en ello pues tenemos a "Into the Night" "Angry Men" y las baladas "If Only I'd Know It" "Over and Over" no pueden pasar desapercibidas.

This one is a must have!,very good melodic AOR with some poppy moments but with class!."Runnaway" enthusiastic opener and with a nice lyric,"Tonight Could Last Forever" is just excellent,"Heroes" is a beautiful track ala Chicago kind of stuff,"When The Rebel Comes Home" remindes me of the song Maniac by Michael Sembello, the beat is similar,"Love Won't Last" is one of my faves and has good lyrics too,"Into The Night" is another fave,"Over And Over" is a lovely smoothy song..."Believin'" is a top notch track!.Classic album,a essential for AOR fans and a jewell of the 80's 4 sure.96/100

Easy in the top 10 albums ever! "Love Won't Last" is a great song, no doubt, but not as fantastic as some of the rest, so have to lower the rating a wee bit. I give it 95%. Not easy to pick the best songs, but even on this album that are packed full of fantastic songs, "Tonight Could Last Forever", "Angry Men" stands out. Amazing stuff.
