this cd rocks. i love everything about it. the sound, the songs, the musicianship, it's awesome

From: Jack Date: February 25, 2003 at 1:30
I have waited a long time for this cd and it was well worth it this is what was needed to kick some ass and bring this type of music back. I don't want to ramble on but I give these guy's a 10. When you hear it you'll know what I'm talking about.

From: artie Date: February 25, 2003 at 2:25
This is what it should be all the time. Great powerful sound. Very energetic. I look forward to hearing more from them in the future. I'm sold and a fan for life now!

I dont know where to begin really. I want to be postive , yet i want to really say something about this album that is nto the typical "AWESOME" comment. No disrespect to the above posts. I enjoy the fact that this album is refreshing in the sense it GRABS you. Something alot of the melodicrock bands have forgotten to do from the new unknowns to the former kings of the scene. I thinkthat album is what is sorely missed in our market and the other labels should take note from Kivel for releasing suc

From: James Date: February 27, 2003 at 0:39
Just to throw it out there, the singer also was the singer for Rage Of Angels.

From: El Culebrom Date: March 6, 2003 at 4:05
PYN SIREN is much better than the new SKID ROW whithout SEBASTIAN.

From: M. Allen Date: March 11, 2003 at 18:51
PYN SIREN, featuring ex-Rage of Angels singer Dan Mariano, has lots of attitude & aggression, but this album needs better songs to be considered a masterpiece. People are falling all over themselves to make the Skid Row comparison, but anyone who thinks this CD measures up to the Skidster's debut or "Slave to the Grind" is delusional. Bottom line, this is a good addition to the oft-overlooked field of "attitude" hard rock, but it's hardly worth getting all frenzied for.

From: dckiss Date: March 15, 2003 at 0:28
What a Fantastic CD!!! Buy It

From: T-Bone Date: March 15, 2003 at 20:25
Sorry M Allen, if anyone out there listens to this album, It has Slave To The Grind hints all over it. Not so much the Skids first album, but Slave all the way. This is a great release. I hope these guys do a little club tour. I'd love to see them live.

From: M. Allen Date: March 16, 2003 at 17:13
No need to apologize, T-Bone, we all have our opinions & that's cool. Actually, I didn't mean to imply that PYN SIREN doesn't have hints of Skid Row but I don't feel they are in the same league, which is what I was trying to convey. I do like PYN SIREN, as I prefer ballsy hard rock to AOR schlock, but the band should keep the attitude & aggression and spice it up with better choruses. THEN they'll be a force to be reckoned with. Bottom line, a good debut, but there's room for improvement.

From: Jayglam@hotmail Date: April 9, 2003 at 10:37
Have not heard this as yet, but if it sounds Like early Skid Row that is way cool. Can anyone tell me who the vocalist is similar too besides Sebitchin. Jay from Australia.

From: celerycake Date: April 11, 2003 at 22:06
"Cry Me A River" and "Saigon" are the only songs that sound like Skid Row the rest I could do with out sounds like any other average band.

From: devon Date: April 16, 2003 at 1:50
Are you crazy? Did you hear Hung Like Jesus. That is the coolest song I've heard in years.

From: Sarah J. Date: May 20, 2003 at 19:24
This CD is O.K. It doesn't live up to the hype, Too generic. If I want to hear something that sounds like the Skids, I'll take the real thing. Just my opinion, I'd rather have sugar than a sugar substitute!

From: airguitar14 Date: May 23, 2003 at 17:56
Let me tell you what!!! If you're not Hung Like Jesus after listening to this CD, you got problems. This baby had me hit the peddle to the metal once I popped it in my car for the first time. I straight up had goose bumps. I give it 10+. This is a good sound I havent heard since the glam bands were out and kickin. If you haven't heard this yet people, I would take the time to download a clip or 2 and let it shred your computer speakers apart. PYN SIREN....hurry and get the next one out.

From: thelostdj Date: May 23, 2003 at 21:28
Well.....I tried.....only one song so far worthy of airplay, "Die". Maybe I missed something somewhere, just haven't found the "awesome" factor yet...but hey....I'll keep tryin....

From: Rick Date: May 23, 2003 at 22:20
What's all this crap complaining that these guys are Skid Row clones? So what if they are. At least they are putting out some awesome tunes, unlike the Skids. For all of you who want the 80's sound to come back, here it is. Instead of bitching about it, pop it in the CD player and enjoy it. Enough said.

From: dckiss Date: May 24, 2003 at 23:17
Hey check it out Pyn Siren is down to a 1 however I'm reading tons of positive comments. Do the math a couple of people really hate this band. Too bad too...I say buy it anyway....Support ALL metal. So what if they are clones (which I don't agree with) Its not like Skid Row even has a good singer anymore. It's like back in the '80's and the Kingdom Come debate, Led Zep wasn't even together so I can live with a clone if I can't get the sound from the original band...besides nothing is original.

From: James Date: June 28, 2003 at 15:42
if you play this cd start to finish it rates as only ok. if you put it in with 4 other cd's (i have a 5 cd player) and put it on shuffle the cd sounds much better. The problem is that most of the Pyn Siren songs sound too much alike. they didn't change the pace enough and when you just listen to the cd by its self it blends together. When you break it up each song is pretty strong on it's own and sounds good. that's my suggestion, break up the songs and take another listen. 7.5.

From: Rycheage Date: July 2, 2003 at 20:42
They have the sound, attitude and flair of Skid Row, but they don't quite have the same melodic knack that Sebastian and Co. had. The Skids wrote some really truly memorable heavy rock songs in their time and Pyn Siren would do well to try and include that missing element in their music. That said, this is still a lot of fun and a great blast to the ears. "Cry Me A River" is a standout, as is "Dance For Your Lover", both containing strong choruses.

From: MJ Date: July 10, 2003 at 16:29
I don't know about all these comparisons to Skid Row.....Pyn Siren has a sound all their own. "Dance For Your Lover" (my personal favorite!!) "Cry Me A River" "Sister Whiskey" hit me upside the head on the first spin!!! "Hung Like Jesus" took a little longer....but it's a fave. now too!!

From: JLPRocks Date: July 14, 2003 at 10:49
Bottom line is...this cd RAWKS! If you like your hard rock aggressive with great hooks and a vox that's reminiscient of Sebastian Bach's, then Pyn Siren is what you'll need. In the curent melodic world you don't find many bands with this attitude and melody. Anyone who tells you this cd isn't good......is wrong. 8.5/10

From: MButt Date: July 14, 2003 at 15:22
I couldn't agree more JLP!! but I disagree with your rating of 8.5/10, I would give it a 9 !! not sure about all the skid row comparisons, but I think they come from this band has the attitude they had back then, and it shows. get this now if you don't have it!

All I can say is DAMN! This CD F'N rocks! By far the best 2003 release I've heard. The comparisons to Skid Row are indeed fair I believe, however this cd is MUCH better than Skid Row's "Thickskin" (which I do like BTW). "Dance For Your Lover" is so good it's scary, and "Cry Me a River", "Saigon", "Higher","Sister Whiskey", and "Lil By Lil" are awesome as well; hell, there's no filler on this one. If you haven't got it....get it!

From: TheRipper Date: August 18, 2003 at 23:01
Yeah, I'd say the best HR CD of 2003 easily... Wonder how their next will be? Hopefully in the same vain... Check it out!

From: Metal Maniac Date: September 1, 2003 at 21:56
What the fuck are you guys talking about, the vocals etc. sound nothing much like 'Skid Row' (old or new), they are alot more gravelly; it is an inaccurate comparison. Danny voice sounds more like 'Skew Sisken' meets 'Asphault Ballet', even 'Cinderella' a bit. The songs are really balls out and heavy like Skid's - Slave to the Grind (at the time), but thats where it ends. Broaden your musical horizons so you can make better comparisons. 'Pyn Siren' is a good place to start, make you wanna jump a

From: JLPRocks Date: September 2, 2003 at 15:28
Metal Maniac.....if you're going to call yourself a 'Metal Maniac' then I'd suggest you start by learning to spell the bands' names you speak of. So you think that Pyn's vox sounds like Nina..or Keifer??!! haha Pyn is a cool..kickass band very reminiscient of Skid Row. Not a clone...but in the same vein. If you don't see that, then I'd hardly call you a 'Metal Maniac'....more like a 'Metal Lunatic'..... Kickass album........get it!! *I'm still laughing at the musical horizon's comment*

From: Blue Charvel Date: February 2, 2004 at 16:35
Yeah I'd say there's definitely some Skid Row elements here, mainly in the attitude and delivery of the songs. I don't think the singer sounds just like Bas or anything, but he does have a similar style as far as the way he presents his vocals. All in all, none of that really matters to me, 'cause the bottom line is it just kicks fuckin' ass. It's a beautiful thing that bands like this are putting out kick ass music in this age of angst-ridden whiney-ass de-tuned crap. Thumbs up IMHO...

From: Mallorca´s rock Date: February 19, 2004 at 9:14
muy buen cd, altamente recomendable para todo fan de los primeros discos de Skid Row... Talvez la produccion es algo nefasta... un 7,5/10

From: vandervelde Date: May 5, 2004 at 9:53
For me this album is like a exact copy of the Slave To The Grind. The same sound, same attitude, even singer is trying to sound like Bach...ofcourse nothing wrong with this....if you are copying, copy the best!!! one of the best albums of 2003..

From: Carmien Rose Date: June 2, 2004 at 19:32
This album rules! Does anyone know if Pyn Siren will do any more albums in the future? They need to do more than one!

From: Slik Vicc Date: June 7, 2004 at 8:27
I agree with Carmien Rose, This album kicks! Are the any other new bands in the same vein?

From: theflannelman Date: July 28, 2004 at 0:32
Hello there y'all...I am purchasing this album cause I have been impressed with Dan's voice on the Rage of Angels cd, way back when. I'll probably recieve it by the next remark, but can you tell me if H.L.J.(Hung Like Jesus) is a down-grading song. I hope it's not, crossing my fingers.

From: Marla (MJ) Date: July 28, 2004 at 3:01
Theflannelman: IMO..no, the song HLJ is not down-grading in the way I think you mean. My take on the song is that the writer feels like he's been persecuted, chastised, and brought down by the world. These lyrics kind of say it all..."When I get old and restless People always wanna bite on me. Holding me down like a ball and chain, tryin to make me see what they believe." Took a while to grow on me, but it's one of my favorites on this disc now.

From: theflannelman Date: August 3, 2004 at 23:13
Ok...I got the cd playing now. It's a pretty good cd. No Rage of Angels, to which I was hoping for. I give this cd/band a thumb up. Dan still has a fantastic voice.

From: Artie Date: August 28, 2004 at 7:12
Yes, the Slave To The Grind sound is definitely there. No doubt Pyn Siren was influenced by that album. I can hear some John Corabi-era Motley Crue and Arcade (ST) in there too. Anyone agree?

From: Propane Date: December 3, 2004 at 0:21
Great axe slinging, chops, riffs, cuts, everything! absolutely hard pounding in your face, awesome metal. Sometime it goes all over the place, but definitely worthy of an intelligent review. Nice job on this one.

From: Geoff Date: December 7, 2004 at 4:16
Check your balls at the door before you step inside to listen to this one... because if you go in balls and all this is just going to rip 'em right out of that flimsy sack that held them inside for so long. Sorry ladies - but consider yourself relatively lucky and safe when listening to this CD. I don't use this term ever, but this is 'in-your-face' heavy rock and f*cking excellent at that. If you like your rock very hard, you'll love this one. Great CD, two huge thumbs up!

From: Crathopper Date: March 14, 2005 at 14:16
All you crap nu-metal, rap-metal bands of today, take notice. THIS is what rock n' roll should sound like.

From: velez Date: November 10, 2005 at 15:16
WOW !!

From: Helix Date: October 29, 2006 at 11:01
Well From The comments above if you think this band sounds like skid Row slave to the grind thats ok. Just think about it for a minute its better then listening to the nu metal and grunge you have been listening to for 12 years since this cd came out 2003. I have no problem listening to this cd and any other new band that plays this sound. Cause to me its better then listening to the shit that is out today. Just for the sound of this cd I gave it a 9 Can't wait to hear the next Pyn Siren.

From: ThunderDan Date: April 22, 2007 at 17:09
My friend Richie Rocker put it best: 'Skid Row on steroids'. I can't argue that, anything that sounds remotely like 'Slave To The Grind' gets my vote. Not many weak tracks here. I was blown away!

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: February 17, 2008 at 3:24
very good CD 80/100 agree with WHIPLASH 1972 & devon comments ! find it & buy it !

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: November 4, 2008 at 1:31
The last four tracks of my CD are fucked up, so I can only comment on what I've heard. This reminds me very much of a better version of Cut Throat. They've got that Slave To The Grind worship going on big-time. Hell, both bands even had albums with the word "slave" in the title. Anyway, this is good stuff, but one problem: The singer seems to think he can get by with doing the Bach scream as much as possible, in place of a catchy chorus, which takes away from a couple songs. "Cry Me A River" and "Higher" are both great, though.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: September 30, 2009 at 2:04
Okay, got this disc now. I stand by my last comment, but I'll add that the singer, despite the frequent shrieks, doesn't really sound like Bach at all, and is more like Mark Tornillo of TT Quick, with maybe a bit of Stephen Pearcy. It's a good disc, but the riffs tend to be better than the vocal melodies, which don't always stick out. Best songs: "Cry Me A River," "Higher," and "Dance For Your Lover."

From: 20gunsalute Date: December 17, 2009 at 21:07
This was suprisingly good. For once I agree with everyone, this disc rocks. Good powerful stuff done up in true kick ass 80's fashion. That's all I really ask from bands is that they rock, and this rocks with plenty of attitude. This will be on my playlist for a while

From: rallen399 Date: February 22, 2010 at 19:19
The only thing keeping this band and cd from being as good as Slave to the Grind era Skid Row is a to rate producer like Beau Hill or Bob Rock.I'm so glad to here music like this coming back.If you like Mud Slick,Slik Toxik or Skid Row you will like this too.

From: Seb Date: July 16, 2010 at 20:45
The bass player played in WITHOUT LOVE and BONE MACHINE.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: July 22, 2010 at 21:20
Great band and album!..indie stuff at its best!...the only "complain" is that Danny sounds too Seb Bach at times (from Skid Row fame) about the rest..a very recommendable release!..."Cry Me A River" just kills!..then a couple of coolies "Die" & "Saigon","H.L.J." is a solid track,a highlight, the same goes to "Dance For Your Lover",the album closes with another cool song "Lil By Lil"...sometimes u get surprises and Pyn Siren is one of those!...become a "Slave"!!!.87/100

From: hair metal again Date: December 22, 2010 at 14:26
amazing release by PYN SIREN.imagine jizzy pearl singing in skid row somewhere between the slave to the grinf and the subhuman race era.unique release that combines raw power with classic hard rock elements and i must say that i was pleasantly surprised.all the songs are very good and especially "saigon","higher" and "dance for your lover".a must have
