'Pure Instinct' is often overlooked as a good Scorpions record. Yes, most of it may come across as 'too light' or 'too balladish or ballad-driven' but if you just want a Scorps cd with a lot of good songs, then buy this album. 'Soul Behind The Face', 'Where The River Flows', 'Stone In My Shoe', 'You And I', and how could anyone ever forget 'Wild Child' (?), are all great songs.

Good album. Sure, its not as heavy as their previous albums but it's still a solid effort. This was their first without longtime drummer Herman Rarebell. German session drummer Curt Cress(ex-Lucifer's Friend) filled in for the album, while James Kottak did the tour. Check this one out if you haven't already.

Not as bad of an album as most say it is. If you like Scorpions ballad songs, then you will like this, as only 'Wild Child' rocks here. 6/10

'Wild child' is a cracking melodic hard rock song and I guess this is a pretty good CD, just not as good as 'Face the heat', IMO. Musically very solid though, and some good songs.

I heard 'Wild Child' and really liked it. Doubt I will buy this one though based on all the reports of ballads. If it was consistently full of tunes like 'W.C.' I would definitely pick it up.

A Very Good CD From The Scorpions, "Wild Child" Is A Very Rocking Tune, "Where The River Flows", Is A Very Well Done Song. The 2 Love Songs Are Awesome, "You And I, "When You Came Into My Life". Buy It If You Don't Already Have This CD.

The Scorps sacrificed their metal sting on this one; with the sole exception of the opening track, "Wild Child," nothing on here rocks, making this one of the lighest albums in the band's long discography. That said, it's not pure crap, as several of the songs are "nice" in that slow, melodic kind of way, particularly the ballad "When You Came Into My Life." Hard rock fans are going to instinctively dislike this CD, and with some just cause, but while it's certainly nothing special, it's not quite as bad as its piss-poor reputation would suggest.

Scorpions did a one-eighty and decided to go in a much softer direction when compared to their previous album (Face The Heat) but I found the end product to be much more fulfilling. There is more passion in the songwriting and it is apparent that they were writing for their preference and not for outside influences. The result is a softer AOR styled release with only a handful of rockers and instead weighed more towards mid-tempo softer pieces and ballads. Fortunately the ballads are among the strongest that they have written in many years, with "You and I", and "When You Came Into My Life" being noteworthy. "Soul Behind the Face", "Where the River Flows", and "Time Will Call Your Name" are all well written and ultra melodic soft-rockers. Guitar leads from Matthias are very tasteful and show elements of growth, and the rockers like "Wild Child" and "Oh Girl" more serve to break up the stream of softer material on hand. Production values are also crystal clear and pleasing. 82/100

Very soft hard rock sometimes even pop rock. There are only a couple of "hardish" songs which refer to their mid 80s. The others are (semi)ballads drawing me mainly thanks to Klaus Maine's empathy vocal. Definetely not bad yet monotonously a bit. 80/100.

superb a o r !!!record from scorpions.the more soft record of their discography only 3.4 hard rock songs (all excellent).beautiful work ,fantastic production.the sound is perfect clear,strong and mighty.sensational melodies and choruses.this record is simply a masterpiece.i recommand the japan version cause the bonus track is a super class hard rock song "she s knocking at my door" (track 12).

excellent release by SCORPIONS who seem to lay back a bit ,but deliver great songs and a nice easy vibe all over!most of the songs are very good and i really dig the production which is clear and updated with the mid 90 s!"you &i","but the best for you" and"when you came into my life" are the highlights of this fine SCORPIONS release

A kinda mellow album in here...plenty of mid tempos and softies and hardly any hard rocking ones...still is a very pleasant album to spin to ...tracks 1,3,4(my fave),7,8,9 & 10 are in my book...80/100
