Next to Animal Magnetism, this is the Scorpions best.

From: Amy Redding Date: May 17, 2001 at 19:28
Agreed-next to Magnetism this is their best work. This one is WUNDERBAR!

From: dokken6008 Date: June 1, 2002 at 22:56
There is enough filler on here to put me asleep. The Scorpions continued progressing and improving their music technique as time moved on. Calling 'Blackout' and 'Animal Magnetism' the Scorps' best work is a joke. You two aren't stuck in the past, you're living in your own twisted universe. What is wrong with people (droids) these days?

From: Kim Date: June 29, 2002 at 12:07
This is the last cd by Scorps, that I really like. .....After this they turned into a wimpy band playing nothing but ballads and extremely melodic crap. Dokken6008. They were a rock band who turned into a POP band.......yikes.

From: dokken6008 Date: July 21, 2002 at 7:48
Perhaps. I don't believe that myself TOTALLY, but your statements might ring true as far as Def Leppard goes.

From: Kim Date: August 17, 2002 at 2:42
Dok6008 I think this was a major turning point in Scorpions carreer. From here it was a big. no BIG plunge down down down. They could never live up to this and earlier releases. They turned safe.

From: dokken6008 Date: August 24, 2002 at 3:21
They have done everything you can imagine since this, Kim. They've done L.A. metal ('Face The Heat'), moderate mid-tempo rock with lots of acoustic numbers ('Pure Instinct'), a techno-pop record ('Eye II Eye'), an entire acoustic cd ('Acoustica'), and they have gone even as far as putting together an orchestra for 'Moment Of Glory' and they are continually pushing this project. The Scorpions strike me as an experimental band; it just so happens at one point they did melodic rock.

From: Scott Date: September 15, 2002 at 10:44
IMO, One the greatest hard rock cd's of all time...The "hit" from this one, No One Like You, is the worst song on it...That tells you how good this is...

From: The Fizzy One Date: September 16, 2002 at 19:34
Man, I used to be HELL for the Scorps when I was in high school ('94-'98). THis is the second Scorps album i ever bought (Crazy WOrld was first, in '91) and to this day, Blackout is the one I play most often. Not a bad song on here, not one!

From: robert Date: October 21, 2002 at 18:50
marcaron un hito, son una leyenda, eran increiblemente buenos. discos como este demuestran porque fueron los mas grandes entonces, junto con otros pocos pribilegiados genios

From: Great Dane Date: January 28, 2003 at 3:18
No wonder the fans got a bit confused at one point. This release is fantastic though.

From: Great Dane Date: February 19, 2003 at 2:23
Just another hard rock band who tried to adjust to the market. NOT trying to create something exciting or new. This is their last good release.

From: iaffprofireman Date: March 13, 2003 at 2:24
Every song on this one is great! Great band and one of their 2 best albums ( in my opinion ) The Scorpions are a class act.

From: wiggo Date: March 19, 2003 at 16:42
A fantastic disc from a fantastic band! Every single track is a winner, and it contains all the kind of songs that (at least in my opinion) should be on a metal disc: The emotional songs (e.g. 'When the smoke is going down'), the catchy ballad-rockers (e.g. 'No one like you'), the fast-paced metal blasts ('Now!', 'Dynamite') and the slow heavy number ('China White'). PERFECT!!!

From: Date: March 29, 2003 at 10:45
One of the finest heavy-metal record! Backout is amazing, i love all the guitar riffs. No one like you is a very cool tune. Dynamite is excelent with a fast tempo. When the smoke... is one of my all time favorite ballads.

From: Elton Date: October 16, 2003 at 13:35
Não consigo dizer qual o melhor trabalho do Scorpions,se foi esse ou o "Love At First Sting".Com exceção de "Now",que é só pula-pula, esse álbum possui músicas fabulosas, como a "No One Like You","China White" e sua atmosfera "Neo-Tokyo" e "When The Smoke Is Going Down"!

From: Fat Freddy Date: December 30, 2003 at 15:36
If you can only take one Scorpions disc to a desert island with you, make sure it's this one (or Crazy World, my other favorite, but I like this one better.) Hearing that pounding "China White" riff on the radio when I was in high school made me a Scorps fan for life. Too bad they haven't made a decent album in over a decade now!

From: Metal Pete Date: January 8, 2004 at 18:58
An incredible album. They peaked here, although they managed to keep it rolling on the next release too. I love 'Arizona'! This one is a perfect 10, don't miss out on this one.

From: vandervelde Date: January 8, 2004 at 21:13
Yeah!! I love Arizona too.....for me their best song, what a great vibe...although it's not their best work IMHO.....but surely worth the price...

From: sparkyass Date: January 26, 2004 at 23:18
this is an alltime metal classic, but i,m sorry fat freddy maybe you should lay off the cheeseburgers for a while!!!!any real metal scum knows VIRGIN KILLER is their greatest album. have a salad, do some situps and then come back to the table!!!!!

From: igan Date: February 23, 2004 at 3:29
es sin duda unos de los mejores discos de scorpions junto a love at first sting y ahora nuevo disco para marzo atentos que llega unbreakable disco nuevo

From: gener8tr Date: April 13, 2004 at 14:43
This one started it for me. I saw Scorpions, Iron Maiden and Girlschool in Portland, Oregon September 10, 1982. I think I was in 8th. grade? I've been hooked on metal ever since. Thank you SCORPIONS!

From: jack Date: May 24, 2004 at 6:18
What? This album is heavy metal, not melodic metal! IT is more reminiscent to metal health and screaming for vengeance than hysteria, under lock and key and the final countdown! This album contain blacout and dynamite, two songs that is as heavy as any metal songs in those days. When the smoke is going down ruine the whole thing. its too soft and pop.Rating:9/10

From: Big Papa K Date: June 29, 2004 at 18:17
The Scorpions at thier best. Everything comes together as they have some of their catchiest rockers ("No One Like You") and some great slower momenets ("China White" and "When The Smoke Is Going Down"). 10/10

From: Rocker76 Date: June 30, 2004 at 12:42
Far too often, a classic band's albums leading up to their commercial breakthrough get forgotten. "Blackout" is a great example of a killer rock album lost in the shadow of "Love at First Sting." I totally agree with Big Papa K - the Scorpions kick major ass on this record and really blow the doors off with their formula that would kick the entire world in the ass on the "...First Sting" album. A must have for classic quality hard rock fans!!

From: Rocker76 Date: June 30, 2004 at 12:47
This is also a good example of an entire album also being lost in the shadow of one huge hit ("No One Like You"). Though that song may be one of the top dozen hard rock songs of the 80s, the entire album deserves the same kind of attention. (Just wanted to mention that...)

From: Joan Date: September 10, 2004 at 15:51
NO ONE LIKE YOU SCORPS!

From: Propane Date: December 1, 2004 at 16:06
Absolutely the best ear bleeding Scorps of the period. I saw them on this tour and never looked back. Every song on this is perfect Scorpions.

From: Metalhead66 Date: January 31, 2005 at 13:08
The Scorpions Best IMO,Although In trance and Tokyo Tapes are brilliant also!!!!This One is 10/10!!!

From: ChrisHolmes Date: July 10, 2005 at 15:03
just a MUST... Made be masters of Hard n Heavy rock !!!! Hard n Heavy radio http://radiohomepage.no.sapo.pt/

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 4, 2007 at 15:42

From: juan carlos Date: June 14, 2007 at 11:52
100% Caña "Dynamite" es mi favorita de siempre y dámela cuando quieras. "No One Like You" es otra clásica a lo Scorps y las rifferas "Now!" "Blackout" o "Can't Live Without You". Clásico. 9/10

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: November 5, 2009 at 23:46
This is my favorite Scorpions album, good all the way through. To me, they were at the top of their game on this disc. The songs are some of the band's catchiest, but at the same time, they didn't lose the heaviness, or at least not much. I mean, shit, listen to "Coma White," one of their heaviest songs up to that point. You have semi-ballady songs like "No One Like You," and 'You Give Me All I Need," but also the title track and "Dynamite," great, kick-ass, fast-paced rockers. (The lyrics to "Dynamite" are ridiculously obvious--go read 'em and be amazed a fuss wasn't made over them). And I've always thought "When The Smoke Is Coming Down" was a very underrated Scorps ballad.

From: lithray Date: June 14, 2010 at 1:24
Doghouse Reilly, you are pretty much spot on.This is the last Scorps CD/Album I purchased. Like the 80's stuff just not enough to own it.

From: edwithmj Date: January 6, 2012 at 17:14
Two of my favourite Scorpions songs reside on this disc: Arizona: catchy rhythm and vocals and No One Like You: a heavy ballad which sounds better on their live album. China White I always thought was the low point of this one but Blackout, Now! and Can't Live Without You Make up for it.

From: Lights Out Date: January 8, 2013 at 18:32
In comparison to their previous release (Animal Magnetism) Scorpions took a more aggressive, punchy, and heavier direction with Blackout while retaining the polish to the overall sound that had been recently established. Rockers such as "Blackout", "Now", the all-guns-blazing "Dynamite", and the throbbing "China White" packed a wallop. This is an instrumental reason as to why Blackout is considered one of Scorpions' heaviest releases. Also here are more easy rockers such as "Can't Live Without You" and "Arizona". Matthias has some of his better guitar leads throughout the course of this album also with highlights being on the title track, Dynamite, and Arizona. Jabs is not in the same league as U. Roth or M. Schenker but he is more than adequate for Scorpions' framework. "No One Like You" was a huge hit and deservedly so but "You Give Me All I Need" and When the Smoke is Going Down" were also strong ballad material. Really not a filler track on the album all things considered. 85/100

From: hair metal again Date: September 10, 2013 at 4:18
excellent hard rock release by SCORPIONS and i really cant recall many bands performing commercial hard rock in such quality back in 82!this includes some classics like "no one like you","when the smoke is goin down" and "blackout"!essential for hard rockers and one of the classics of that era
