This debut was way ahead of it's time and still sounds fabulous today. Many bands were influenced by this and future releases. Why this band weren't/ aren't huge (outside of Japan) is a question that will always remain unanswered. An ultimate classic

People compared these guys to the Beatles for good reason. Zander nails McCartney (I think he does one better). The melodies are so infectious. I'm not a big ballad guy, but the mid tempo Mandocello is awesome.

You cant belive it, a futuristic disc, is what Enuff snuff (a good group) will be, and is the sound of all the mediocrity contemporaneos do, like smashing pumkins. Its a super record

Webmaster...you've used the wrong album cover, the above is their last but one album from the late nineties. Mind you, both albums are simply called "Cheap Trick" and they are both absolute corkers. Fantastic and criminally under valued band.

LIke Big Star's first few albums, it's a little tricky to understand just how ahead of its time this album was. Play "he's a whore" (their absolute best song) for anyone who doesn't own the album and they would just as likely think it's brand new, not 25 years old. I love Neilsen's backing vox. too. They fit his campy personality so well...and that's another thing that made this band so great, so post-modern. It wasn't jsut in their look, it was in their music too. Great song-writing here too.

The debut by Cheap Trick does not sound like anything they have released since, but then again it did not sound like anything released at the time either. A fresh sounding power pop album that probably stands the test of time better than their other albums. 9/10

Oh man does this Rock!! This is a perfect blend of punk and hard rock!! I heard this from the day it was Released, and it is still great.Rick plays guitar like a madman,Robin's voice is so smooth and the Rhythm section is tighter than a nun's hmmm habit!9.5/10

Great Power Pop album! I'm fond of Taxman, ELO Kiddies and Mandocello.

Pop Rock with some happy Punk melodies as well..Cheap Trick is a band you love to hate or vice versa ."Taxman,Mr Thief" & "Oh Candy" are my faves...tracks 1,3,5 & 6 also are good ones...this was a decent debut for Robin Zander & C.o ...75/100
