'Now Is Then..Then Is Now' still remains one of the best pure AOR albums of the 90' bar non. Since then, it's all been a little on the patchy side for me. 'Devotion' and 'The Stuff...' were both pretty good solid discs ,'King Of Crows' very good and 'Mighty Blue Ocean' an admirable album, albeit a little dark, although not surprising after Mark's illness. I was really looking forward to 'It's A Beautiful Life' but to be honest, after many subsequent spins, it's flat and uninspiring. The songwriting is typically Mark Spiro, but the arrangements and general sparseness of the musicianship (not a problem in the past it must be said)really let the songs down, making them sound quite samey and making their quality pretty much redundant. Disappointed in a word so I'm going back to dig out my copy of the aforementioned 'Then Is Now..' masterpiece and bask in all it's glory.

All the songs are rather same-ish here, very basic and generic and uninteresting. Pity really, because the guy showed in the past he has talent.
