Pleasant hard rock with some keys. Imagine an album following in the steps of Van Halen II- especially 'Dance The Night Away.' Some similarities to Sing Sing and Maxime.

Jillson fans might also appreciate this rarity.

This CD rips, it's one of my alltime favs... It's a rare one, but worth the search, check it out...

Hey all, I have an original of this CD (and Spiced Ice's S/T 1990 CD), both in awesome like new condition, and originals of course. Check out the message board under trading for details, I am looking to do a 1 for 1 CD trade... Email me at cdgemz@hotmail.com if you're interested.

A bit lighter than the band photo indicates, but still OK. Kind of Bon Jovi-ish. If you find it in a store, pick it up. It is quite rare.

$325 buy it now on ebay... Not bad. This CD is well worth every penny spent to obtain it. There are a few CDs out there that attract some big price tags that (music wise) are not worth the money, but Hot Boy - Barely Legal is not one of those. These guys play a well blend of Hard Rock/AOR/Hair Metal that MOST major label artists could barely touch. If you like Bon Jovi (SWW), House of Lords (s/t), and Harem Scarem (Demo '89, s/t, Mood Swings). If you find this gem... get it. Metal 4 Life

I just think if this is gonna be a solid HR/AOR reference site (which I think it is) it should NOT allow idiots to overcompensate their little or no knowledge on a disc like this one or any other one just because they have the time to... I'm not saying this is the best disc ever, but I will say it's a darn good one, and a GREAT pickup for someone looking for an indie that sounds like a rockin late 80's Bon Jovi with a nice amount of AOR/Hard Rock style thrown in there. RECOMMENDED.

From: TIM Date: March 19, 2003 at 0:50
I like the heck out of this one. Gets very heavy rotation. Let the idiot keep on doing it Ripper- he's overcompensating for his shortcomings.

From: JLPRocks Date: April 24, 2003 at 18:18
Ok...put this one in the player again. And I have to say..it is one of THE MOST overhyped cds I've ever heard. This has about as much 'balls' as a post-op transexual. It reminds me of the kind of sad attempt at music that one would hear in those B Movies. To say this cd 'rips' or 'shreds' is just laughable...give me Sweet Teaze, Concrete Jungle, Sgt. Roxx, Roxxi, Hard Knox....but Hot Boy is anything but 'Hot'. Go ahead and pay those rediculous amounts for this light in the pants loser....

From: koogles Date: April 24, 2003 at 19:01
$499.00 at kissmydisc.com, and that IS the correct position of the decimel point, thank you very much. As for the DECIBEL point, 'Young Wild and Free' with its pulsing staccato synth, whoa-ohs and nostalgic-about-the-good-old-days lyrics has a certain early Bon Jovi/Journey appeal that's hard to resist. A glorious feel-good AOR anthem even if the vocals are a tad weak. Tracks 3 & 4 are the kind of songs you wished were on the new Biloxi CD: 2 more catchy summertime rockers. As good as indies get

I HAVE A LOT OF BANDS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO GET MY HANDS ON THAT ARE RARE, BUT FOR THESE PEOPLE JACKING UP THESE CD'S ,AND THOSE STUPID ENOUGH TO PAY BIG MONEY, WOW.......WHAT A CRIME! When it comes to collectable CDs, it is generally understood that the market itself sets the price of an item....not the seller!!!! Basic economics is at work here when you find a CD commanding a price of $499.00 that means the demand for that CD far outweighs the supply.....If $499.00 is too much for your pocket book, continue shopping for Lynyrd Skynryd and Abba at the local Walmart, but, don't expect someone to give you their ultra rare collectable CD for $10 or $15......it just don't work th

From: Delbert Date: May 27, 2003 at 1:20
Another thing I've learned over the years.....what one person considers to be a Killer CD, another thinks it's crap. When searching reviews, I look for hints that point to the style of music that interests me such as keyboards, harmony vocals and uptempo melodic rock. Others may find this style of band boring to their tastes.....It's all in the ears and that gray stuff inbetween them!!!

From: Delbert Date: May 27, 2003 at 1:22
This is a 'KILLER' CD !!! Would I pay $499.00??? -m-m-m-m-m..... it is good, but......I got mine for a lot lot less.....before everyone decided they had to have it it guess.

The track 'Jag Elska Dig' translates into: 'I Love You' litterally...How cheesy...

From: purrfect-kat Date: September 22, 2003 at 12:13
I think Delbert summed it up pretty good about supply and demand with regard to the prices. . . I also agree that what some may really like others may not so when it comes to actual value then only You the buyer can decide if the cost was worth it. . I for one like this CD. . If there are more feel-good AOR anthems like (Young Wild and Free) then I would like to know about them.

From: gener8tr Date: January 22, 2004 at 17:09
The catalog number is actually CDIOUA69... A play on words and numbers I suppose!

From: M Brittany Date: March 12, 2004 at 15:20
Ok, Like it or hate it I,m the guy who played it! Drums that is. I was a hired gun for this band as were most members. It was a complete facade, but fun and funny nonetheless. I have played on alot of projects but this one takes the cake. We also did a video to 'young Wild and Free' which yes, I have a copy of. You wanna talk about rare! My real name is obviously not 'Michael Brittany'. If your interested or want any more dirt on this band email me at 'thad180@qwest.net'

From: Great Dane Date: March 29, 2004 at 0:47
Well M Brittany did you have any influence on the drum sound.?????? If so, are you satisfied.....? Damn that suxx GRANDE, and so does the rest of the sound of this 'apparently' rare album...........................and how does the completely corny track Jag Elska Dig turn up.

From: M Brittany Date: March 30, 2004 at 18:25
No Great Dane, I just played on it. But you bring up two interesting thoughts in your critique. One-if it sucks so bad why do you have it or waste your time writing about it? Second- there were only limited copies produced so it is not only 'apparently' rare it 'just is' rare. I personally dont give a shit if you love it or hate it. For someone to value your opinion they would first have to critique the reviewers own work. So what have you done? Can we hear it? are you Just a disgruntled rocker?

From: The Truth Date: March 30, 2004 at 19:09
Mr. Brittany...if Great Dane owns a copy of your CD, then he has more of a right to critique it than even you, since you're obviously not going to be objective. Doesn't matter if he is a rocker, or a sewer worker, a big businessman, etc...I've heard 'Young Wild & Free', and thought that song was pretty good, but evidently since you've never seen my work, that opinion means nothing to you. A 'rock star attitude' coming from someone who's not a rock star...hmmph.

From: Muddley Date: March 31, 2004 at 15:09
Thanks Truth. M Brittany. Im sorry you cant take the critisism. I have been collecting cd's for ages, and beeing a collector doesnt mean that I only collect stuff that I like. There is something about the whole genre I like, so I collect whatever I can find, and whatever I find interesting. Im sure that all users of Heavyharmonies have some stuff they dont like much. I havent done anything, Im just a lover of good music, and Rock'N Roll, NOT a musician, but that doesnt ....Cont

From: M Brittany Date: March 31, 2004 at 15:44
First off let me say that I appreciate and respect everyones opinion whether I agree or not. Second, I never have been a so called 'Rockstar' with an attitude or not. I am just a drummer who's done some things and played on alot of projects, some good some not. I just think it's funny that anyone would take up that much of there time on any CD. Not to mention paying as much as some people have for an original disc. I personally wouldn't pay that much if Jesus Christ himself played on it! Cont...

From: M Brittany Date: March 31, 2004 at 15:50
and 'the Truth' makes a good point. I don't take anyones opinion to heart that much cause to believe the good press you gotta believe the bad press too. Hot Boy is what it is. Like I said before Love it or Hate it. The Swedish was put on the track because Scream wanted everyone to think he was from sweden. Pretty retarded in my opinion but whatever. I have so many stories on this band its ridiculous. But for the time it did well. Even as an unsigned band it was in rotation on Z100.

From: Scream Date: March 31, 2004 at 18:14
Don't assume someone is in the band beacuse they claim to be, and please don't accept their negative comments about the band as being accurate. Anyone can claim to be anyone, signed Scream (see what I mean)

From: M Brittany Date: March 31, 2004 at 23:42
Well it seems as though Scream was a little offended by the truth. Oh well Things are what they are. I even tracked down his phone number to let him know about this site. apparently after reading my comments which are like I said 'The Truth' he apparently took offense. I guess he still is believing his own hype. Anyway, To give Scream, aka Hjalmar aka Nikki aka Harley his due, he was good at marketing. Just couldn't follow through. He was a nice guy though. Believe what you want.

This is AOR HEAVEN!!! I love this album, is one of my favourite of all time but i have only a cdr, aaarrggghhh!!! Every song is a killer, this is the kind of music i like more. What a pity they made only 5 songs!! This band deserved to make more albums and a major contract. Everytime i listen to this one it blows me away...everyone has the original cd for sale or trade please contact me at paolop75@virgilio.it

From: Paolo Date: April 1, 2004 at 9:49
Hey Great Dane, if you don't like it just sell it to me! I'll be happy...

From: G Date: April 1, 2004 at 12:56
Hey I just wanted to set the record straight. My previous posting I signed as Scream. It was a joke, that's why I ended it;(see what I mean)The singer is a friend of mine and told me about this site. I saw the M Brittany comments and was trying to make the point that anyone can sign these postings as anyone and not to take negative comments too seriously. M Brittany assumed I was Scream and responded to my comments. I was not trying to upset M Brittany.

I love this! This is what 80's rock was all about... Sex, lies and videotape; fighting amongst band members, fans and or disgruntled player-haters. I remember getting in a fist fight in high school over who was the better band: Rush or Def Leppard! This brings back some great memories! Thank you!!!

From: figgy Date: May 5, 2004 at 1:54
anyone care to sell a cdr?let me know! dolphins13magic@aol.com

From: Geoff Date: May 24, 2004 at 2:37
Regardless of what the story is with this CD and the band members and all, it's f*cking great 80's melodic hard rock! How a fan of the music could dislike this one is wild to me because although it is by no means original, it is a perfect summary of all that is good about the music. Great CD, great songs - f*cking love it!!!

From: fanzinaor Date: June 26, 2004 at 14:15
impresionate album de hard rock festivalero usa, en sucesivas escuchas decae.

From: Magnus Date: July 12, 2004 at 9:29
I understand why this one is very sought after, thanks to a good friend of mine I really enjoy my cdr copy. The vocalist reminds me of Joss Mennen from Zinatra! The music are great and I like every track.Even the music sounds like the band Zinatra!!Track nr. five:Jag Elska Dig is Swedish but with wrong spelling. The correct spelling is Jag 'lskar dig and it means I love you.Rock on!

From: Kip Date: September 28, 2004 at 3:11
Yes! I was just jumpin' in here to say that Magnus! The singer does sound a lot like Joss Mennen, and the song structure sounds a lot like something he and Robbie Valentine would have come up with. However his voice isn't as powerful or pitch perfect as Joss'. The keyboardist gives this a mid 80's Bon Jovi feel, and the happy, melodic, anthemic, rockin' approach is probably what you would get if you were to blend those two groups together. This is a great CD. Solid, and consistant in quality.

From: Kip Date: September 28, 2004 at 3:20
Oh, and by the way, at $499.00 for this, that's $99.80 US per song, (plus shipping of course), because Jag Elska Dig isn't a song. It's a vocal filler where the singer whispers stuff in Swedish for about 40 seconds (With an American accent, LOL)

From: Gim Date: December 31, 2004 at 17:19
Jag Elska Dig was literally filler. To press the CD there had to be a certain length of time on it. So that was created in the studio, on the spot to fill up the space needed to be able to send the tapes off to be pressed on a CD. It was never intended to be a song.

From: rockin4life Date: January 22, 2005 at 12:54
There is a Hot Boy CD for auction on ebay, I don't know where the final bid will end up at, but the starting bid of $250 is a great price. I paid $400 for mine and that was a good deal for this CD.

From: z4roxx Date: January 22, 2005 at 21:01
Wow!!250,00$ for a cd is a great price??For a cd???250,00$??Great price???Music is what you listen and not what to must pay to listen!I can understand 30/40$(if you want to get original)but over 50$ I hold surely a cd-r!!It's a shame pay cd's over 50,00$.Those are point of vies BTW....

From: Chad Bell Date: January 23, 2005 at 4:48
I agree with z4roxx-There is no way in HELL i'd pay over $50 bucks for ANY cd. A cd-r sounds exactly like a cd, so why bother. No cd insert and case is worth that much, especially considering that cd's cost less than half a buck to manufacture. If it were vinyl or an 8-track, I MIGHT understand. Oh well. Too bad the Hot Boy dudes aren't seeing one red cent of those outrageous prices of their work!

From: z4roxx Date: January 23, 2005 at 19:47
Thanks Chad Bell for your support, that's the poor reality.Cd's business became a madhouse, not for simple and poor(economically)guys as my self, too.I love this cd,is awesome true aor piece, maybe top 5 indie ever heard, spectacular production, outstandin'tunes ect..but If I must pay 100$ for each song I should go mentally ill!ahahahaha!!But,as I've founded many megarare cd's for 1/2$(Jillson 5 copies or Cleavage ect..)I think to find this one too before goin'underground ahahahahaha!!!Regards!!!!!

From: Date: January 25, 2005 at 0:43

From: Tom Date: February 23, 2005 at 19:50
Hot Boy is not a real band. Ron chick from Harder Faster played most of the lead guitar if not all. Two of the other guys are male models. They were a joke in Portland.

From: z4roxx Date: February 23, 2005 at 19:57
If it's the truth is a great scandal,no words about these things....Cd is great to me but after hearin'these things I think I'll throw away my cd-r!

From: Tom Date: February 24, 2005 at 13:42
I used to lived in Portland,Oregon where Hot Boy is from. I have been to hundreds of local and national acts. I can't recall ever seeing Hot Boy at any of the clubs playing out or their flyers posted for any their shows.

From: TIM (2) Date: March 31, 2005 at 17:47
Managed to get a cd-r, and this is quality stuff. Great production, loads of keys, very 80's. The vocalist reminds me of Danny Vaughn but the music is very 'New Jersey'-era Bon Jovi, and quite similar to the Gene Walk Group E.P. But this still isn't quite as special as SURRENDER is. SURRENDER is - the first time you hear it - a breath of fresh air, but this (despite being very good) isn't as worthy of your hard-earned cash IMO. At normal prices this is essential, at $300 it's not. 8.5/10.

A VERY limited number of sealed original copies of this CD are available from the fan club site. See this link for details.

From: TIM (2) Date: September 6, 2005 at 9:19
Just received my original copy of this in double-quick time from the fan club & this is definitely worth owning for the price it's currently available for. I read above that the vocalist wanted people to think he was from Sweden, & the result is that this disc sounds very like prime 80's European AOR. He's actually a dead-ringer for Joss Mennen from the Zinatra albums. 'All the Love' is by a distance the highlight on offer here, classy smooth AOR. Great stuff.

From: z4roxx Date: November 2, 2005 at 11:57
I know they are false musicians, models or other else,I also know that they don t know that a minute is made of 60 seconds(because 2 songs have a running time of 3:65 and 0:82 ahahahahaha)but this is great great aor!!!It blows me away every time I listen to it,one of the best indie aor cd IMO'.

From: spawn71 Date: March 30, 2006 at 6:23
I don't know if they are false musicians or not... and it doesn't matter! For me only the music is important and, in my opinion, this is a great great example of AOR - melodic rock, in the style of early Bon Jovi. This EP is very similar to another rare gem of the early '90s, the 'Gene Walk Group' EP. Now you can buy 'Barely Legal' for a good price (40$ on ebay), so get it!!!

From: metalhead4life Date: May 23, 2006 at 19:27
Good CD!! Songs are very catchy and melodic. Glad I picked this one up! Definitely recommended for fans of 80's Glam Rock. All songs are good! Chorus to 'I'll be There' is catchy as hell. Production also good. I give this CD a 10/10 as I'm a big fan of melodic 80's rock and this CD is very fulfilling; you can see and hear that 80's shine on it! It's always a treat to hear new/obscure 80's rock like this!

Whithout doubt the gayest name ever for a band, but if it's true that it was a fake band then it's a pretty funny joke, even funnier if you paid $500 for it.......

.......As for the music, well the ZINATRA references are pretty spot on, with big fluffy keys dominating the mix, topped off with the 'nicest'sunday school vocal's this side of the local bible bashers sunday gathering.....maybe NICE BOY would be a better name for the band!!! Also has anyone noticed that the intro riff on 'I'll Be There' is a dead ringer for Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean'?......67/100

Hey folks...I just wanted to say I sang background vocals on this cd. I am amazed after all these years this cd is still out there! I Googled it just for grins to see if there were any copies of it still out there and to my surprise there is quite a following after all these years! I realize there is this controversy concerning the musicians and who actually played on the cd, (I don't remember ever rehearsing with the blond upside down guy on the cover) But I have to say that I DO remember rehearsing with some solid musicians and they were a f**king talented group of guys! I wish I could remember their names so I could give them credit here. We played one live gig (don't remember where) but I we went on so late that a lot of people left because they got tired of waiting! It was fun to read the comments after all these years and it was fun being a part of the band too, even though it was short lived. Thanks for the memories...Beth

Enchanted mini album!!!..my only issue is the vocals(Scream tended to be out of tone at times but still kicks a**!)....'Young,Wild & Free' is an excellent song,a catchy AOR one and with a nice video(you can watch it at youtube's),'Can't Take Your Love Away' is a nice song with a chorus that hooks u up!,'Don't Ever Let Your Dreams Die' is the best song at least 4 me & 'All The Love' is also a wonderful AOR song...90/100

Oh, shit! It' been over three years and I still haven't given the review I promised. It may be for the best, however. Initially, I was completely unimpressed--and I still believe it's overrated--but I've since grown to appreciate the lush synth-filled gooey AOR shit. I guess I've gone soft--perhaps I always was. Still, when I'm in the AOR mood, there are a plethora of albums I'll turn to first. This still doesn't live up to the hype it constantly recieves, and don't pay any attention to the comparisons to Jillson people often feel inclined to make. You can look for my review there. Take in consideration that was three years ago, and I was rookie then--still am, I s'pose. I rate this album a 75/100.

Not bad! Criminally short but the songs on here are keyboard drenched AOR. The singer sounds a bit like Morrissey from the Smiths. My favourite song is All I Need.

Oops. I meant All The Love.

This is ok, but nothing special. The songs are very simple, which in itself is not bad, but lack the real killer punch. Still, I'll probably stick to my original since it's a nice piece to have. "All the Love" is my fave here.73/100

BTW, "Jag Elskä Dig" (wrong spelled) is just some phrases whispered in my native language Swedish...it's pretty hilarious, especially since his pronunciation sucks!

FYI: The previous "Scream" and comments from 2004 was not me. It was a friend who thought he was being clever creating that account and then commenting. I asked him to stop. Dan helped me set up this new Scream account, Thanks Dan! I meant to drop in sooner. Damn, time flies by. Here is the "Official" video to Young, Wild And Free if anyone is interested. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrZZGPeEGIk Cheers to all. Scream

@ The real "Scream" ®TM. I'm guessing you"re the singer of the band using the same handle? I did a search using the band/album title and got 3,000 gay porn search results. I didn't see any reissues of this EP, so with the rarity factor this is a tough one to find, even a active mp3 file let alone the CD. If you have a rip please feel free to share a link. thx
