The first single and video off this album 'Kicking & Screaming' has been out for about 6 weeks and didn't really blow me away. The voice remains the same as this legend in his own mind (Bach) hasn't lost much range with the hands of time, but like all his solo releases, they're second-tier IMO compared to the Skid Row years. This release is better IMO than 'Angel Down'(less anger/more melody) due in part to young gun guitarist Nick Sterling adding more melodic riffing. For all the ladies Baz cranks out the 'croon tunes' with ballads "I'm Alive' & 'Wishin'. Some tracks have a modern vibe, including 'My Own Worst Enemy' which sounds Subhuman Race-ish with a modern-makeover. 'Tunnelvision' has a cool riff and is my standout track. All in all a pretty good solo effort but listen to Skid Row 'Wasted Time' and name one Baz solo track that holds a candle to it? Is it time for one last run at glory with his former band-mates for a Skids reunion to see if the magic is still there?

The great voice that sold a bazillion Skid Row records returns with his latest solo effort and once again proves that when it comes to merging melody & attitude, nobody does it better than Bach. Face it, the guy's ego may be of bastard-like proportions, but he can sing the phone book and make it sound good. Sure, there are certainly some fillers dragging down this CD, and aside from "Dirty Power" nothing quite matches the stratospheric quality level of the Skidsters, but for the most part this is good, heavy-hitting hard rock that skews toward the metallic end of the spectrum. And the all-strings-blazing guitar work of red-hot young gun Nick Sterling is awesome, intensifying the enjoyment factor. Pop this puppy in your car stereo, crank up the volume, roll down the windows, and scream to the world how good it is. Unless, you know, you're too busy listening to Lady Gaga or something...

Angel Down was a hard album to match, and sure enough, Kicking And Screaming doesn't match it, but there's plenty of strong material here. The first five songs are really great, as well as "Dirty Power" and "One Good Reason." A couple, like "As Long As I Got The Music" would really rock in the old-school way, but Jarzombek plays at half-speed, I assume in a misguided attempt to make the song "heavier," which ends up killing the momentum instead. I liked both ballads on Angel Down, but am not wild about any of the three on K&S. Of those, "Wishin'" is probaby the best, but lyrically steers a bit too close to "We Are The World" territory for my taste. For his part, Baz still sounds great, and has dialed back on the screams that some complained about from Angel Down (he still has it when he needs it, though). Nick Sterling is a great young talent, playing old-school GnR/Skids style even while down-tuned(?). In basebal terms, a stand-up double compared to the home run that was Angel Down.

I can't stop fucking listening to this.

New young guitar slinger, Sterling brings needed punch and enthusiasm to this album. I like it better than Angel Down. Bach's vocals are cleaner, less screaming than on previous release. Is worth checking out.

This guy is a freaking douchebag and was easily one of the most OVERRATED singers in the genre PERIOD
