The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Nazareth CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.
EPs and CD-singles from Nazareth are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

Again, as the previous, an entruiging album cover graced Nazareth's 14th studio output, Sound Elixr. However, not nearly as exciting are the contents within. Possibly rushed, as the band put out this product only a year later, it still has a few memorable moments but nothing as stout as on 2XS. In fact, had this been the album after "The Fool Circle", many may have considered it a natural progression, but in retrospect because it follows the burning 2XS, it was frowned upon & mainly regarded as a regression among fans. In today's digital age, some 30 years later, these songs can be nearly regarded as 2XS outtakes. Nothing but Whippin' Boy" has much pizzaz but the heartfelt ballad "Where are you Now" concludes the album in admirable fashion. Conversly, the flimsy "Rain on the Window" nearly summerizes the limp output in a nutshell. |

Overall, McCafferty's voice should be more gravelly & not nearly as airy. Maybe the strain finally began to take it's toll but certainly the album production is thin & doesn't help matters. In any event, a much sought after album for years in the States, it may be better forgotten. |
