'Fred Bear' is a killer track. That is all I can say about this one though, unfortunately. both of the Damn Yankees albums are better than this one. This one for hardcore fans of Nugent only

What are you talking about? "Spirit of the Wild" is one of Ted Nugent's finest moments. He was't trying to sound like the DYs. The lyrics changed over the years from sex to the wilderness and conservative issues, which fits right in with his '90s reinvention as a conservative family-values spokesman. Nug gained a new passion and sounds committed again, since that passion for hunting and family flows throughout his music. Derek St. Holmes is back at the mic. Can you feel the spirit? Nug' Rules!

one of my all time favorites... since Free-For All.

Let me say this: I will always respect the mighty Nuge and have nothing but deep respect for his talent. However, the luster has been lost I'm afraid.

Great album!! Fred Bear is a monster cut! What a GREAT tune. Some very good stuff on this album, Kiss my ass, Hot or Cold, Spirit of the Wild and Wrong Side of Town all hold up. The Nuge rocks in concert and plays Fred Bear with the campfire in the middle of the stage! Do your research on this track as it has a good story behind it. Hunting, archery all the cool woods and mountain details. Recommended.

This is a great album. Pick it up, you will not be disappointed. Having Derek St. Holmes in the mix makes all the difference. When they are together that Nuge sound comes through!

Good album by The Nuge!!!...with Derek St Holmes back on the boat for this one ...if you want songs then you have "Fred Bear" & "Primitive Man","Hot Or Cold" somehow reminded me of The Rolling Stones,"Kiss My Ass" & "Spirit Of The Wild" are some personal faves & "Heart & Soul" is the best one IMHO,you can listen some AORish feel to it..."Wrong Side Of Town" & "I Shoot Back" are also goodie ones...get it!.88/100

Honestly this is easily my fave Nuge solo album. It takes the classic Nuge sound and mixes in a bit of the commercial side of his career (Damn Yankees) without taking him away from what made him the howling mad Nuge in the first place. Songs like the title track, Fred Bear, Tooth fang & claw, Kiss my ass & Thighraceous are just monster tracks. A nice mix of out and out Nuge style rockers, and laid back "ballad" style tracks.

This disc captures lightning in a bottle & harkens back to the 70's when Nugent was news. It embodies all that we remember which also includes the services of Derek St. Holmes, who has always been the ice to Nugents fire. These songs may have different titles but the messages are still the same, while the music is still some of the most exciting, unadulterated rock (mixed with rhythm and blues) recorded by The Nuge since his glory days. The outright piss & vinegar of youthfulness or the not sorry attitude for my freedoms are some of his driven pledges hammered home here. Blend that with Ted's insatiable appetite for the wild & his non pretentiousness that accordingly plays out in his rock & roll, & this is vintage. Rock on Ted.
