A good rocking and poisonous album!!!...dirty and straight to your face Hard Rock with funny lyrics!!!..."Off The Chain","Just Like Charlie Sheen","Bathroom Romance"(rocks real good!),"Devil Dog"(rocks real good 2!)& "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog?"(has a Ted's "wango tango" part???) are my faves...83/100 |

The track listing is slightly different on my copy (and the one listed on their website). But anyway, American Dog continue their shitkicker-metal crusade with pretty much just what you expect from the band at this point. The songs are more uptempo than on recent albums, more like the first two discs, but the heaviness of a disc like Hard is still felt, thanks in part to new drummer Michael Harris.. Got to say I don't think this is as good as Hard or Mean, but it's still American Dog doing what they do. Favorites would be "Devil Dog," "Old Dog, New Tricks," "The Real Nitty Gritty," "Off The Chain" and the funny Cramps cover "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog" (yes, with a little nod to the Nuge). "Bathroom ROmance" is kinda dumb, but who can resist a line like "the other girls didn't seem to care, they were too busy fixin' up their hair," or the toilet flushing at the end? |

Reading my first comment, I can see I was doing my best to hide some disappointment. I'd put Poison Smile in the lower half of their catalog, with a relatively low number of essential tracks, mainly "Devil Dog." "Just Like Charlie Sheen" hasn't aged well at all, as I knew it wouldn't, and "Bathroom Romance" and "Splinterin' Sally" are pretty dumb. |
