Great band. This was their 4th release from 1979 !!(cd release is from 1993 and only in Japan). It's a mix of Doc Holliday and Molly Hatchet, but still very melodic. 8/10 |

This was in the first batch of CD's that I submitted and I was a little confused about entering the dates on the submission form. I put the LP release date and CD release date in comments and also included covers that haven't shown up (yet?). I don't know if there was a problem with what I submitted or if it just takes a little more time to get it entered. |

Martin Popoff reviewed this album and I have two of his books with the same review. In "The Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal Vol. 2 : 1980's" he rates it a 6 and in the "Southern Rock Review" he gives it a 7. These are some of his comments : "Seems folks are always clouded by the heavy metal of the screw and bold(t?) cover art, the title, and the pugilistic cover of Deep Purple's Highway Star, thinking this is the heavy one as well as the best of the catalogue." |

M. Popoff's review Cont. : "Well it might be the most southern rock with the Rock 'N' Roll Soldier cover, the Blackfoot greasechain funk of Turning Back and the rousing credo-rock title track, as well as the overt Skynyrd vibe of Thank You Mama (also live; last track side two, nicely bookending Highway Star(Wrong To Cry is a third live track)). All in all, the product mix is quite southern, even skirting the r+b of ARS for Guessing Game and On The Run. |

Conclusion of Popoff's comments : "And thankfully Bill Ham is still producing those old-time sounds, helping to keep the band squarely 4X4 rockin'. Diversity all over the southern rock harmony companion, save for Highway Star which can be seen as a cry for help, a ticket out of town." |

Good southern rock release...raw and direct!!!...my fave track is "Rock 'n' Roll Soldier" but another goodie ones are "Turning Back","The Hard Way","On The Run"(with that Carlos Santana feel to it,especially in the congas),"Highway Star"(a live good cover in their own way)& "Thank You Mama"(a good live rockin' & rollin' song)...for fans of 38 Special,Molly hatchet,Blacfoot,The Outlaws,Lynyrd Skynyrd and so on...82/100 |
