The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Rhino Bucket CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. The best thing about this album is the energy level. Rhino Bucket's last two albums, especially The Hardest Town, seemed strangely bummed, maybe more in spirit than actual sound. The Last Reall Rock 'n' Roll comes out swinging and is relentless uptempo. Rhino Bucket struts where AC/DC (their obvious primary/only influence, if you're late to the party) plods. They pack more bounce to the ounce than Angus and Co have managed in decades. This makes songs like "Everything You Do," "I'm Your Doctor," "So Long," "It's A Sin," "Bang My Drum," such a joy to listen to. Even the disc-opening "Hello Citizens" escapes the cheesiness of its lyrics--in 2017, the idea of legions of longhaired rawkers starting a revolution is precious and quaint. |

Georg Dolivo is even yelling again, to go along with the drunk-Tom-Petty slurring croon he favored on the past two releases. And the whole thing ends with "The Devil You Know," a nasty, slowed-down tune in the vein of "Been There Done That," a favorite of mine from the catalog (hey, it even starts with a tolling bell, just like ... welll, ya know). In fact, the only real knock on the disc is something I just noticed yesterday, after having the disc for six weeks: with only one or two exceptions, the essential sameness of the songs is harder to ignore than on any past release. I mean, well over half of these songs are at the exact same tempo, the guitar tones and riffing style are identical throughout, and even a lot of the vocal lines are similar. And it ain't just me: I was riding in the car with a friend who only likes simple, basic rock 'n' roll, and even HE commented on it. |

When it comes to Rhino Bucket, you get what you expect, guitar driven songs & great production. This is no exception! Really good release! |
