Autograph has long been accused of being another "one hit wonder" (unrightfully so)and I am so tired of hearing bullshit and reading reviews online about people trashing them it makes me sick! Steve Lynch is a one of a kind guitar virtuoso MASTER who did eight-finger tapping which almost nobody has ever been able to do successfully. 'Sign In Please' was Autograph's debut in '84 and is still in print to this day. All of the tunes on here are extremely catchy and this is a very solid release.

Sorry to disagree, but though a few songs are really great, most of this is filler. "Turn Up", "Deep End" and "Girlfriend..." are great. I could do without the rest, in fact, it is pretty trite. if I were to write music that's probably about as well as I would do it.

Great feel good album. I have owned this since 1985. I have a lot of memories with this band's music. Very good album I recommend it. I think out of the four albums its the best one. Very 80's.

November 4, 2002 STEVE PLUNKETT RESURRECTS AUTOGRAPH NAME: Point Music in Germany have announced the signing of Autograph featuring Steve Plunkett for their new album scheduled for March/April next year. Frontman Steve Plunkett has been working on new material since this time last year, said to be in a classic Autograph meets Def Leppard vein. It was thought that the album would initially be a Steve Plunkett solo album.

TURN UP THE RADIO was an awesome song. The rest of the album was good musically. But, I thought they lacked a little something in the lyric department. I remember them being called a second rate Def Leppard. True? I can see the comparison. If only the lyrics were a bit stronger, they could've been bigger than they actually were. Just my opinion. This album just gets better each time I listen to it. My initial favorites were "Turn Up the Radio" (of course), "Cloud 10," and "Friday," but songs like "Night Teen and Non-Stop" and "Deep End" have really grown on me recently. I especially like the sequence in the middle of "Night Teen" of the guitar solo and then the keyboard solo. Sure, the keyboard solo sounds kinda cheesy toward the end, but it was the 80's after all. "In the Night" is a great power ballad too. Turn It Up!! Just do it!!

I remember how excited I was when I got hold of the cassette of this one back in 84.I immediately fast-forwarded to "Turn Up the Radio",and thought to myself "Yeah, this is gonna kick ass!" Next, I remember how disappointed I was when I listened to the rest of the tape. "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend.." was the only other song I liked. I tried to like 'em, but I couldn't. It's a shame that one of the catchiest songs of all time(Turn Up the Radio) was surrounded by such mediocrity.

got to admit.i'm a hardcore drummer who never abandon my old school metal roots.but this band i couldn't get into.they seemed too produced,and put together.not the deal i'm sure but the only good song,"turn up the radio" IS one of the best songs created from that time,and the guitar solo is also one of the best,simplist solos ever.

Funny, VH-1 just showed a clip from the "Turn Up The Radio" video on some "Metal-Way Back When" program. THE CHICK WHO WAS THE MAIN HO IN THE VIDEO HAS GIANT BAZOOOOMS AND HILARIOUSLY BIG HAIR!! I think she is/was still hot using today's standards. The song is pretty cool.

Turn Up the Radio is one of the greatest party tunes of all time. That said, the rest of this album isn't all that interesting. It's simply too soft and poppy. Loud and Clear is better.

This is a great album. What I like about Autograph is that they never really took anything too seriously. My Girl Friends Boy Friend Isn't Me is a down right classic. I see rumbling of the album being too poppy well check out the Deep End what a great riff. While I enjoy Steve's Guitar work, to me he was just a very good Eddie Van Halen Rip off. I don't think thats a bad thing though who better to copy. Get all of the Autograph Albums. But Start With This one.

This album is fantastic and although he is a 2-handed tapping guitarist, Steve Lynch is NOT an Eddie rip-off/clone in the slightest. Although having been released 5 years after Van Halen's debut, Steve already had his own style of 2-handed playing and his book, "The 2-Handed Guitarist" from 1978 proves it!Eddie does get the award as the first to incorporate the style/technique in the commercial context of a band.Myself,a former student of S. Lynch, can't see how he stole from EVH.Lynch rules!

Like all Autograph albums, I always thought they had a lot of filler, but between the filler, there is a first class melodic gem like 'Send her to me', or the wonderful 'In the night' or the melodic bliss of 'All I'm gonna take'. 'Cloud 10' is great too. Overall, a few fillers but the gems make it worthwhile for me indeed! Good commercial rock.

Totally agree with Former Student, Steve Lynch had it all figured it out even in the mid 70s. And IMO he's the only one who came out of the 80s that can match Steve Vai's virtuosity. Even better than (gulp) Randy Rhoads! Just imagine if Lynch was given the opportunity to do whatever he liked in an album, the same way that Vai was let loosed on Eat Em and Smile.

Call me a crazy bastard if you'd like, but I saw Van Halen live in Portland, Oregon last night, and let me tell you... I honestly believe Eddie has nothing on Lynch with the exception of a 30 year reputation of greatness. Eddie does rule, but Lynch's two-handed work is as good as it gets in the business. God I wish 80's rock still ruled the world!

Another all time greatest and one that has been played virtually weekly over the past 20 years (God i'm getting old & the wife is getting fed up of it!!!)-It still gets the heart pumping everytime I listen to it. The whole album still sounds fantastic 20 years on. 'Turn Up The Radio', 'Cloud 10', 'Send Her To Me' classix one and all. The band never scaled these heady heights again, 'Thats The Stuff' paled in comparison, although they picked it up again for the excellent 'Loud & Clear'. ESSENTIAL

Everyone wanted this band to take off, but the songwriting just wasn't there, and Plunkett's voice can be irritating. Turn Up the Radio is an all-time classic, I like the guitar solo on Deep End, and Thrill of Love is good too. The other songs are filler, but better filler than you'll hear from other groups. I classify this group as "wasted potental", especially with a guitarist like Lynch (can you imagine him in a Dokken or Great White-type band?). Still recommend for the money.

Gotta agree with everyone - Turn up the Radio is one of the all time greatest rock anthems! As for the rest of the album being 'mediocre' as some put it, I definitely disagree. With an arsenal of songs including 'Send Her To Me', 'My Girlfriends Boyfriend....', 'Deep End', 'Cloud 10', Nighteen and Nonstop' this is a rockin' album that sees regular rotation. Love those keyz!!!

This is Autograph's best album. If your a hair-metal fan, as I am, that's saying alot, because Autograph is a great hair metal band. If you're not a hair metal fan, what are you even doing commenting on it. Hair metal isn't meant to be taken too seriously or analyzed to death. Its meant to be popped into a boombox and rocked out to. Sure it's cheesy, but that's part of the fun of it all. If you like it, great. If you don't like hair metal or Autograph,what's the point of even visiting this site?

For some reason, Autograph could do NO wrong in my eyes. The titles and lyrics are silly 25 years later but the songs still are fantastic. I'm ok with their "fillers". I never skip songs and am completely enamored with the best guitarist of that generation, Steve Lynch. I remember being on vacation, tuning the car radio and coming across a rock station and they played "Turn Up The Radio".....I was rocked away in a manner that NO song has ever done.

Great party rock even if it sounds dated (Those damn Casio keyboards again!!!)As for Steve Lynch, you really need to listen out for the solo's just to hear how good he is. Fave songs are pretty much the same as eveyone else's here with my favorite being opener 'Send her to me'. Very much a product of its time and could easily be the soundtrack to one of those cheesy 80's teen series on TV back in the day. 70/100

like all the autograph records this album is very consistant.with autograph it s simple always killers never fillers.all songs are always great.ok they have not the charism and the class of house of lords for example cause their music is different.they plays for the fun.if i was american (no i m french) if i was a student (no i m 53) my dream will be make parties with many many girls.and so the music will be ....autograph .the best party rock ever.i ve this cd in japan import.it s a real raritie even if unfortunatelly there is no bonus tracks.

excellent debut by AUTOGRAPH back in 84 and a classic of that era with bands that set the scene and brought commercial hard rock music to the big arenas!this one is kick ass commercial hard rock music with big choruses,smashing guitars and a party vibe all over!"turn up the radio","deep end","thrill of love","send her to me" and "night teen & non stop" are all great songs and Sign In Please could do a lot better!Anyway i believe that this is a must have for everyone!

This is the only Autograph disc anybody really needs, if only for the hit "Turn Up The Radio," a cheesy, guilty-pleasure, only-in-the-'80's kind of tune. This is fairly light, nonthreatening Cali rock, like AOR dressed up as metal. Friendly and fun, with none of the nastiness of a Motley Crue, Ratt, or even Quiet Riot. I always thought "Night Teen And Nonstop" had to be a mistake, as the title makes no sense, and it sounds like he's singing "nineteen," which actually WOULD make sense.

One of the first wave of pop metal groups to break into the market, behind Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister. Autograph never hit their heights and was a b-tier band in that first wave. The genuine ear candy that is "Turn Up the Radio" is a massive single and one of the best songs of 1984. "Send Her to Me" isn't far off either. This is a good release and essential for a serious collector of 80s style hard rock. Grade B+.
