An excellent melodic hard rock debut, loaded to the gills with slick production sensabilities and sounding like a cross between HAREM SCAREM and the first ACES HIGH album. The ultra-polished guitars drive home some very tasty hooks and the catchy choruses feature those beloved layered backing vocals. Next to Germany, Sweden is probably the best at importing melodic hard rock, and DREAMHUNTER is another worthy addition to their legacy.

From: ConnectionLess Date: September 18, 2001 at 16:10
Catchy catchy catchy !!!

From: Paul Nicholls Date: November 5, 2001 at 16:07
Never heard of the band untill my girlfriend found this album..... what can i say? has not stopped being played yet if fact the CD is complaining that It's dizzy.......BUY BUY BUY !!!

From: Mark Date: November 28, 2001 at 11:29
Quality European melodic rock. I agree that Sweden has put out some great music (anybody remember Treat?). Anyway, Dreamhunter has a 2nd album called BAD ATTITUDE that I think is probably better than this one. If you like this one, check it out!

From: WidoMakr Date: March 13, 2002 at 20:01
No way this album could have been made in 2000...the sound is very good!..unlike most of the crap from 90's/00's...great sound...hard pounding drums...worth a listen for anyone liking a little more power in their tunes...Quote the WidoMakr....never more

From: Rocknroll Date: May 24, 2002 at 20:37
You bet, these guys know how to rock! They have two great awsome hard-rock albums. A true mix between Harem-Scarem, Hardline, Giant and Ratt! Great melodic hard-rock. Cheers from Portugal!

From: Reno Date: August 13, 2002 at 23:25
For anyone who loves Hardline, Steelhouse Lane AdrianGale, or Giant, This cd is for you. Excellant guitar work and powerhouse choruses and vocals. I would swear this was put out in the Hard Rock/AOR heyday of 87-91, but it's a 2000 release. Gotta love it.

From: David Date: August 14, 2002 at 2:12
That's a very big statement Reno, I hope your right. I got the Wall OF Silence album because someone said it was as good as Steelhouse Lane and I'm so disappointed in it. Does this album go over-board with keyboards because that's just not my thing?

From: Reno Date: August 16, 2002 at 17:54
I'm not sure what your version of over-board is David. There are keyboards on this cd, but In my opinion, they are tastefully done. It's not like a church group or anything. Just picture Hardline's cd with a hint of Keyboards in the background and thats what this cd is like to me. The vocalist has a Michael Bormann/Johnny Gioeli feel to him. Not squeaky clean, but not growling either. Here's a linkif you want to preview their song called Kingdom Come: http://www.nehrecords.com/MP3/MP3.html

From: Rycheage Date: July 1, 2003 at 21:51
I used to worship bands like Shark Island, Heavy Bones, McAuley Schenker Group, XYZ, Julliet and to a lesser degree Motley Crue and Bon Jovi. Dreamhunter comprises elements of all those bands and if you have at any stage held similar enthusiasm for any of the above, then this album is calling you. Classic American melodic hard rock, even though the guys are Swedish! Not one filler on the album.

From: vandervelde Date: October 14, 2003 at 14:13
one of the best cd's of post hairmetal era....this is like a mix of Jaded Heart(IV), Fair Warning and happy american hairmetal(Bon Jovi)....see titles of the songs....you can't be wrong....this a must for every fan of melodic music......

From: John Date: October 17, 2003 at 13:25
Am I the only one that hears a Christian undertone in a couple of the songs? Read the lyrics to get what I'm saying. Anyways...probably the best SOUNDING Z Records release. This thing is produced perfectly. I dig the dude's voice. 8.5/10.

Sweet, sweet production on this. Awesome guitar sound, killer drums. This is the best sounding disc I've heard in awhile. On top of that the songs are well written too. Definitely worth getting, especially if that eBay average of $7.77 is close to right!

From: Roxas Date: January 5, 2004 at 4:16
Listen to thins thing with a few beers...wow.

From: Hrudet Date: February 3, 2004 at 0:46
Admittedly, it's not earth shatteringly original, but boy it sure stands out from the rest of the mire out there, and it's a fun, infectious album that's guaranteed to provide you with many highlights. Catchy songs, great guitars, nice keyboard touches, and played with power and conviction. I wonder what would have happened if these boys were on the scene 15 years earlier? They would have been in their prime.

From: Max Date: April 3, 2004 at 5:37
It is a great melodic rock album. Very reminiscent of 80's Bon Jovi, with ctahcy moments all along and very good musicianship. Production and mix work is pretty cool also.

From: TIM (2) Date: July 6, 2004 at 4:26
A very high quality release, full of big riffs and pretty heavy on the keyboards. The opening 2 songs are probably the highlights, but there's nothing you could remotely call a filler on here. Very reminiscent of early Jaded Heart, but with slightly better songs. If you love stuff like Aces High, Fair Warning, Jaded Heart etc, then pick up both Dreamhunter albums.

From: Nanteau Date: July 13, 2004 at 17:08
Hrudet says it all (except the first) --but I think he relativates it by saying what could have been 15 years earlier. They would have been VERY BIG! Almost like Bon Jovi which is a good comparision; I guess they play straighter hard rock at times than Bon which you can easily hear listening to -e.g.- ANYWAY YOU WANT IT. It hammers your ears! MY DAYS ARE COUNTED is the more balladesque side of them (my fave!!) ROCK ON

From: Geoff Date: March 5, 2005 at 18:44
Good to see we can all agree on this one. Stellar debut! 'Kingdom Come' starts things off in awesome melodic hard rock style, 'When Heaven Calls Your Name' keeps up an extremely high quality, as does 'Night After Night, 'Tell Me Why', which are both great melodic hard rockers, 'Young Wild and Free' and ''Rose Tattoo' are also awesome and 'You Take My Breath Away' is a beautiful closer. Wonderful ballad.

From: Erik Date: March 7, 2005 at 1:45
This is an excellent melodic rock album. With a great production and some absolute crackers on it. Almost sheer (melodic rock) perfection. 8,8/10.

From: SCANDI Date: November 22, 2005 at 15:28
I love the song "My days are counted" .. the rest is mostly a bit too 'heavy' for my taste. Tracks 2,3 & 11 I like too. For 2000 a very good rock album though. Reminding on a heavier BON JOVI with a lot of German bands' sound as PINK CREAM or BLUE VELVET trown in. Scandi feeling is still there, and a bit american heaviness and glamness is there as well. Good production, powerful voice, nice cover, easy to get .. so what you're waiting for?? 8,1/10

Whatever i may say about this band is....poor! nothing less than 10!

From: BIG-TIME Date: May 31, 2007 at 13:10
Dont hear Harem Scarem, Hardline, Giant or Ratt good for the time but not that good for me. The vocal's suck...that weird, forced, wibbly wobbly stuff! the music is OK but nothing that will grab you. It has that 2000 or new age rock sound to it the first track sound's like Magnum, and the fifth sound's like Meatloaf meets a christian rock band. If you want late 90's/2000 rock go for Velocity the vocals are great and the song's are very good...KEEP ROCKIN ALL!!!

From: Sven Date: September 22, 2007 at 16:29
Well, for those who think this should've come out 15 years earlier... Guess what? It did! The band was then called Lifeline & they released a 4 track single on 'Kuling Records' (?) in 1993. One track (any way you want it) made it to the 'Melodic Mayhem volume one' cd (also featured on this site) & the writing credits match the names that appear as band members on the 'Bad Attitude' page... Too bad it's taken them 17 years to release this album, because it genuinely smokes! Too bad they split 2!

From: Dr. Feelgood Date: March 21, 2008 at 16:32
This one takes you right back to 1989. It could've been huge back then. "When Heaven Calls Your Name" would have been a great sinle. It's also my favourite track on the album, with great melodies and a stellar chorus, closely followed by "Rose Tattoo" and "Kingdom Come". The vocals are really good, as is the songwriting throughout the album. "Night After Night", "Young Wild & Free" and the closing ballad "You Take My Breath Away" are gems, too. The only close-to-filler track are "Tell Me Why" &

2 Very Good albums, i have 1 video concert of them.

From: happy2849 Date: March 7, 2011 at 15:32
For it's timing, the year was 2000, a lot of listeners were surprized to hear this wonderful release. Brings back memories of the late 80's when melodic rock was in style. You can't go wrong with this one!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: November 21, 2011 at 19:16
Lovely album..."Night After Night" is probably the best cut the band has ever recorded and the one that got me into this act...another goodies for me are "Long Cold Winter","Tell Me Why","Young Wild And Free"(great mid tempo),"Rose Tattoo" & "You Take My Breath Away"(nice smoothie)...a pleasant band..if you don't know them well is time to do so!!!...86/100

hum sorry i m not agree with others comments.not a bad record absoluty not ,a dynamic scandi hard f m realise but.. not more.this cd don t hooked me ,this cd have not the spark of class of ignition for example.if you are fan of dreamhunter listen to ignition .you will be scotched.ignition plays in champion s league.dreamhunter plays in league 2.

From: hair metal again Date: October 31, 2019 at 19:13
excellent debut for DREAMHUNTER that seems to be more a project than a real band !otherwise this is a thrilling commercial hard rock release with great songs ,vocals and big big hooks!"kingdom come",'night after night","my days are countered" and "rose tattooo" are sensational songs indeed!essential

From: Roxas Date: November 3, 2022 at 17:30
When Heaven Calls Your Name is a real anthem, stood the test of time. In my all time greats!
