Based on the current lineup (- Richie Sambora) 'Jon Bon Jovi and Friends' should be the name of the current Bon Jovi band. Sambora joined Bon Jovi in 1983, replacing original lead guitarist Dave Sabo (Skid Row). JBJ is heavily working the talk show circuit and press with the new documentary coming out tomorrow 'Thank You Good Night, The Bon Jovi Story'(2024). Not sure if JBJ is working the "Living on a prayer' hype comeback angle, as he says his voice after vocal cord surgery might never fully recover to his standards. He's also publicizing that he and Sambora watched the documentary together, after Sambora went AWOL on a tour 11 years ago, as the 2 had been estranged for a decade. All orchestrated for a big Sambora/BJ reunion tour? Who knows. As far as my taste I didn't pay much attention to BJ after 'New Jersey (1988)', with JBJ trying to reinvent himself as the modern day Springsteen in later years. Saw BJ open for RATT in 85' and the 'New Jersey tour' with Skid Row opening in 89'. |

I saw the documentary, too and agree. I was impressed on JBJ's transparency about his voice and also how his bandmates' reactions have been. Also, the series shows how these guys are old men now, thinking about their mortality. To me, just thinking out loud, it seems the door is slightly ajar to bring Richie back into the fold, in some way or another. Perhaps alongside Phil X, who seems like a really good guy. |
