This is an AOR masterpiece, no less. The songs, the sound, the musicianship, the hooks, the harmonies, the vibe, an 'out-of-this-world' vocalist : STRANGEWAYS got all the right elements in place to produce this awesome album. No fillers here. So every home should have one. Rating ? 11 out of 10 !

By far this is the more emotional AOR material i've ever put my hands on!I also forsee an outstanding evolution on Terry's singing.Such an humongous voice on this record,like calling you from the afterlife.It also has some to do with the record as a whole,cos listening to it is an ensured trip away from your everyday problems!!Extremely atmospheric tunes stabilish this release as a quite hipnotic soft,with a harder edge AOR music!!90 out of 10.Buy it or keep on regreting!!!

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents worth...I listened to this album for the first time last night (im only 18 so go easy on me) after recently listening to their first 2 albums...and WHOA! WHAT A LISTEN!!! It was one of those albums that once it finishes you wanna put it back on straight away (or complain that there should be more songs on it) No album has done that for me since I first heard Saraya. 10/10 Everyone should own this album

What can i say....this album is most overplayed cd in my house...i rate this as the best in my entire collection...Love Lies Dying must be the most beautiful song in music history ( emotion here makes me almost cry)... Every Time You Cry is another great gem (great athmosphere)...Terry Brock absolutely shines here but the rest of musicians play also superb...buy without regret!!! I'am sure that this page will be without negative comments

If you're into melodic rock with strong melodies and big vocals, you'll love this one. It's propably the best British AOR record ever. There's no filler on this one, it only makes you sorry by ending so soon. 'Love lies dying' is a great ballad with the best melody in the entire band history, 'Into the night' has the best vocals on this record. The production itself will leave you completely satisfied (watch out for the remasters!). I think there is Terry Brock solo material available too, but I

I don't know how if it's similar to this. In any case stay away from later Strangeways material, it's totally different (and boring). Keep looking at wimpwire.com, there's Strangeways material posted from that period every once in a while. Also if you haven't checked out yet, get their 'native sons' record. It's a classic, too!

1997? That's odd. I believe this is from 1990, and a great CD it is too. The opener is awesome melodic rock, 'Love lies dying' is a great tune, and 'Everytime you cry' is simply melodic rock perfection. One of th emost flawless melodic rockers I have and ever will hear. Overall, I still think there are fillers but the band is very good, as is the CD.

EXTREMELY EXCEPTIONAL AOR!! One of the top ten of all time. Everything right down to the production is on HIGH! I bought 2 CD's one day in 1989, this CD here and Michael Thompson Band 'How Long'. I was FLOORED! I couldn't believe I stumbled upon 2 of the greatest AOR CD's on the same day!! I listened to them both for weeks solid. I actually used these 2 CD's to judge other AOR albums. There weren't to many bands that came close to this caliber of songwriting over the years. BELIEVE THE HYPE!

What more can I say to this album that isn't already said? Well,from my point of view surely one of the best AOR Cd out there but I don't quite think it belongs in the super-top-league (though for sure in the top 100).Anyway,it's miles away from the boring debut which is a good sign.My favourite tracks here are 'Where are they now','Love lies dying','Walk in the fire'&'After the hurt..' 'cos they have the catchiest, most interesting hooklines which unfortunately is relatively rare in AOR. 8,9/10

Well f**k me sideways with an iPod Nano...I'm listening to this for the first time tonight. It's so melodic I can't quite believe it, not sure why it's so amazing but whatever you're doing stop it and go and buy this...believe me you need these songs. Love Lies Dying is the single greatest ballad i've ever heard. And here I thought Terry's solo album was the finest of my collection. Superb CD, It makes you wonder why the record company did not renew their contract?? Originally called Fast Lix , then changed their name to China White, and then Strangeways. Formed by the Stewart Bros from Balfron, Scotland. If you can get hold of their best of CD, 'Greatest Bits', it is also a must have CD, and covers most of the Albums here. The CDs have just been re-released again, although not on Hangdog Records. Do yourselves a favour and go out and buy these CDs, 10/10.

This is what MELODIC ROCK is all about. I'm not talking about Melodic Hard-Rock or Melodic Metal. I'm talking about Melodic Rock, period. It's wonderfuly produced, the vocals are pure melodic heaven, the guitars, the keys, everything is combined to make one of the best albums ever. Strangeways can be both progressive and melodic, hard and soft, tough and easy to understand. All at the same time! If I must compare it to something, it'd be with the first Heartland album. But this one is superior.

Standout tracks? Well, they all standout, really. But I must say I have a particular admiration for 'Everytime You Cry'. This is perhaps their most 'commercial' song, but it also is their finest moment. Terry Brock and the guys should be proud of having written the most perfect song in music history.

sometimes there is a thin line beetween AOR and melodic hard rock, i´m more into hard rock but if there is a AOR album that i can consider to be a jewel this one is it!this is the album where they found they´re way, they stoped the journey´s like stuff. there are no fillers. like all other great albums some songs are stronger than others. a lot of AOR bands should have this album as a reference and avoid that pop stream that so many have.

I can't say why, but I never really got into this one. Actually, it's the AOR I like: Crispy enogh with guitars and keys (maybe not enough?) and a good voice (maybe too rough?). However, it's the best of the STRANGEWAYS' albums by far.

Realmente estou de acordo com Rafo Phoenix. Não existem adjectivos que cheguem para qualificar esta superba obra de AOR/Hard Rock Melodic. Todas as músicas são espectaculares com a grande voz de um dos melhores vocalistas deste género que é TERRY BROCK. Para o meu Pai Mário "Walk in the Fire" é o melhor de todos os tempos e para mim STRANGEWAYS é também dos meus favoritos. 10/10 Forever!!!

Awesome, but in my opinion, there`s few songs that should not be in this record. Songs like modern world or into the night are in a different category than the rest of a record. These songs sounds a little too much Duran Duran to me. But great album. If you like this one, you should try the bands like crown of thorns of Dare too. Cheers.

The third of my first equal number ones (with FMs 'Tough it Out' and Dare's 'Out of the Silence.') That opener, 'Where Are They Now' - bloody hell! It practically spells the word - ARENA! Slickly produced AOR in the vein of Heartland but with an American singer. The drums are loud, the rhythms tight and the lyrics are very catchy. I'd have to say my favourite songs is Danger in Your Eyes (explosive from start to finish), Love Lies Dying (wonderfully emotional song), Every Time You Cry (another emotional song but slightly more uptempo) and Into The Night (perfectly melodic). Lovely stuff.

AOR PERFECTION!! No hay palabras que puedan describir la magia que se siente al escuchar una obra de esta calidad, los descubrí por accidente en 1990 y quedé fascinado por el sonido y la tremenda interpretación de Terry Brock, es difícil comprender como obras maestras como este disco, no hayan trascendido a la par de su calidad. Existen buenas reediciones de este sus otro 2 trabajos de los 80 y vale la pena tenerlos si te gusta el Rock 100% sonido 80s buscando bandas del nivel de Journey o Survivor, todas las canciones son buenas, habiendo 3 ó 4 joyas que son imperdibles.
