Aug. 20, 2025: Temporary Message Board ClosureThe company hosting the message board sprung a surprise price hike on me that would have more than tripled the monthly hosting costs, so I've been scrambling to find an alternative. I've purchased a license for self-hosting a different platform and am hiring a consultant to migrate the existing board's content (posts, user profiles, etc.). However, this means I need to shut down the message board for anywhere from 3 days to (hopefully less than) a week so the data can be migrated. While this is an expensive proposition up front, it should result in some long-term savings. The current message board will be closed down at some point this Saturday, August 23. I will post updates here. The main site (where you are reading this), will NOT be affected. -Dan |

second excellent effort from circle of friends.their first record was the cd of the year in 2022.here we are not at the same level,it s impossible.but this record is a top class hard fm record even if "the robe" is a very very long and very average song.the other songs are ultra catchy, varied with some very talented guys and women.i recommand the japan import cause the japan bonus track "a candle in the window" is avery good song singing by jeff scot soto. |

Given my surprise at how much I enjoyed the project's original release, it's only fitting that the follow-up surprise me again, albeit this time with a shift in musical direction. While "The Garden" was largely composed of upbeat melrock with some splashes of pop AOR, "Cherokee Moon" is predominantly melodic hard rock that occasionally slips into metal territory. "Eternal Love," "Princess of the Night" and especially "Eye of the Hurricane" are among the heaviest tracks, with Jeff Scott Soto and Rick Altzi bringing the bass as they would for any other album. I was genuinely shocked when Robin McAuley's "Midnight Sensation" turned out to be a pure 80s-style AOR hit, and you shouldn't sleep on the beautiful Robin Beck-Mick Devine duet. The songs are all well-written and well-produced, making for a solid release, but it helps to know what to expect before turning this one on. I don't like it as much as the debut but it's still more than worth a listen. |
