What can I say. I didn't like this album when it first came out in 1981. That was stupid. It soon grew to be one of my top 5 albums of all-time. If you love early 1980's hard rock/melodic metal ala Scorpions, UFO, etc.. then you will love this. I still listen to this album 20 years later. My favorites are "Running For Tomorrow", "Lovers to the Grave", "Panic in the Streets","Beads of Ebony", "Flirting with Suicide", "Children of the Earth". This is not HEAVY metal, but more subtle hard rock. |

Cheated is easily one of the most impressive tracks they've ever recorded... |

Algunos temas interesantes serian el inicial Cheated o Thirty Pieces Of The Siver.ACEPTABLE. |

The band had a professional sheen by the time the recording was made. Evidenced on songs such as 'Cheated' and 'Rich City Kids'. The twin guitar approach from Tino Troy and Steve Carroll add some depth to the tracks, and they can be heard on classic Mantis tunes such as 'Running From Tomorrow' and 'Panic In The Streets'. The remainder of the songs are all solid efforts. |

Way ahead of their time,I first saw Mantis when they supported Triumph at Manchester Apollo. It's classic melody and muscle with great harmonies, brilliant time changes and fantastic guitar. No Mantis release has matched this album.Quite simply this album is essential for any fan of AOR.Also the cover is brilliant and the CD contains 3 extra tracks including the classic Thirty Pieces of Silver. Buy this album now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Very, very good melodic heavy metal. Mantis were more melodic than the other NWOBHM bands and it shows. The songs have a polished sheen and even the Kinks cover sounds like one of their own songs. 95/100 |

I can't believe, how to compare this Album with Iron Maidens Music? So much harmonies in every single song. Dunno, I love it, my rating is 100! |

very good debut for PRAYING MANTIS in the early 80 s with a solid professional sound & performance and many good songs around like "cheated",'children of the earth","rich city kids"and "flirting with suicide"!a classic of that era for sure |

On this album you will not find anything by Iron Maiden or Judas Priest or anything similar. But you can enjoy very good 80's Hard Rock. Thin Lizzy, Scorpions, Krokus and similar groups are present in this recording. 10/10 |
