Journeyman is a masterpiece; definitely one of the best tunes they've ever created, sent into the stratosphere by the twin leads of Tino Troy & Dennis Stratton...

From: Shoemaker Date: May 9, 2003 at 18:05
Yes, this is the best Mantis album!!!

From: Rycheage Date: March 29, 2004 at 23:57
The twin guitar work of Stratton and Troy are a force to be reckoned with in the rock scene, and on 'A Cry For The New World' we are not exactly breaking new ground, but the commitment and class carries it off. Punctuated by subtle keyboard pieces in the background, the predominant guitar attack never lets up.

is this the same guitarist with the band Lionheart that had the album titled Hot Tonight? That was a great one that is not around anymore. I will track this one down, thanks 24!!!

very good album, containing amazing songs like rise up again, journeyman and the self titled. However to me, their best album is Forever in Time

From: SCANDI Date: January 7, 2006 at 9:27
It's nothing exceptional here, just good AORish melodic Rock with nice keys & a lot of power. I don't like the twin-guitar-work as much as Rycheage does, I think that's due to my aversion of Heavy Metal. But then again it's interesting. My favourite tracks here are "Rise up again", "Fight to be free" (fine hookline that can make you cry), "Dream on" & "Journeyman" with "The final eclipse" fitting perfectly as an pathetic end. 8,2/10 I like the cover a lot too

From: SCANDI Date: January 7, 2006 at 9:28
To Swriter: Yes, I think so. The same Dennis Stratton who had success with LIONHEART & IRON MAIDEN.

From: hair metal again Date: November 6, 2014 at 10:06
ok release by PRAYING MANTIS ,in their classic hard rock way!the musicianship is acceptable ,the production very good ,but the songwriting isnt as good as expected!i cant find any big songs in it and this is their biggest issue!"a cry for the new world" and "open your heart" are the highlights!
