i don't give a fuck what anyone says , this and "revolution by night" were BOC's best cd's - the best produced and the most melodic. anyone who doesn't think so can blow me and go listen to some 90's CRAP!!

From: Gar Date: August 14, 2002 at 3:12
This one bombed when it came out, but its not nearly as bad as people think. Its got the classic BOC sound, and the production is a lot more modern. Just saw them live a couple of weeks ago, and they did "Perfect Water". Great song.

From: masque Date: October 23, 2002 at 21:58
it has its moments.perfect water...dancing in the ruins..this is good AOR album..direction that boc has in the 80's.melodic but still strong enough.

From: koogles Date: October 25, 2002 at 16:27
There's a lot of synthesizers flying around on this CD, but MIDI can't kill the cryptic BOC lyrics & complex musical passages. A critic once described Buck's guitar lines as "spiralling" and "cynical". So true. "Dancing in the Ruins" sounds like a sequel to "Burning For You", but it's great pop. "White Flags" is a cover of a Leggat tune. "Perfect Water" is my favorite song on the CD- with watery synth lines and a hypnotic refrain. "Madness to the Method" foreshadows the chanting of "Imaginos".

From: Axelinger Date: October 30, 2002 at 1:14
Buck Dharma ignites Perfect Water with an absolutely stunning guitar solo, which ranks as one of my favorite solos of all time... This is a sadly underrated album...

From: Alcamenes Date: December 26, 2002 at 7:59
The solo in Beat 'Em Up just slices you open and then sews you back up in seconds. This was the hardest BOC album for me to find on CD but it was well worth the effort.

fucking awsom album

From: Joe Date: May 28, 2003 at 3:52
This album has its fans. "Perfect Water" is awesome.

From: Gerry H. Date: November 16, 2003 at 8:30
After looking at the previous messages regarding this album I'm wondering if I missed something? This album is a very sub-par effort and holds nothing musically. 'Dancing in the Ruins' is the one song with any quality. I think BOC is a great band, but they lost their majic with this one.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 12, 2004 at 23:22
Boy, with all those studio musicians listed, does anyone from BOC actually play on this album? Even Howard Stern contributes on here. Anyway, side one has some nice tracks like Perfect Water and the Burning For You ripoff Dancin' In The Ruins. Unfortunately, in between those songs might be the worst BOC song ever, Make Rock Not War. 5/10

From: Dreamaholic Date: October 27, 2004 at 6:14
I bought this cassette in '86 with my first paycheck after boot camp. I wore the hell out of it but found it cheap on CD later. I love Dancin' in the Ruins, Perfect Water, Spy in the House of Night, and Madness to the Method. Spy in the House of Night has like 4 guitar solos! There are some stinkers here, like Make Rock Not War, When the War Comes, and Shadow Warriors, but this is one of those CDs that can take me back to a turning point in my life...gotta love it!

From: Propane Date: December 2, 2004 at 15:32
Alcamenes, you sly dog. These were similar to my symptoms: The very same solo cut me in two (long ways), peeled me all the way down, stabbed me back together and applied superglue before I was even aware of what was happening.

From: Bernardito Date: February 20, 2005 at 20:18
this is a great great cd, catchy melodic dont deserve it!!!!!

Some Great Songs And Howard Stern-What More Can You Ask For?

From: Adam Blackheart Date: March 18, 2006 at 9:52
Good, maybe not as good as it's prodecessors, but I like it!!! Some great songs like "White Flags", "Beat'em Up" or "Perfect Water". Enjoyable stuff. And obviously "Madness To The Method" which is fuckin' awesome!!!

From: johnny8ball Date: May 28, 2006 at 15:11
I agree with Gerry H, this is the lowest point of the bands career, even the producer Sandy Pearlman claimed at the time it was the worst thing he'd been involved with. Its not the poor production which makes this offensive, its the crap like 'make rock not war','shadow warrior' and the most god awful song ive heard by almost any band....'beat em up'....words cant describe how awful the lyrics are, especially for a band of BOC's caliber saved only by perfect water, dancin... and white flags.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 14, 2011 at 21:13
Nice album with some AOR influences typical of the year(1986)..many HR and even metal bands took that direction in the middle of the golden age in music, the 80's...best tracks are "Dancin' In The Ruins","Make Rock Not War","Spy In The House Of The Night","Beat'Em Up"(best song IMHO)& "Shadow Warrior"...88/100
