Heavy Harmonies Review |

If you're a fan of '80s hard rock ballads, you will definitely enjoy this disc. Very melodic keyboard-driven material. It's not often that you encounter a hard rock band from Switzerland, and these guys are a welcome addition to the international melodic rock arena. There are plenty of hooks to be found throughout. Of special note is the cover of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, which is makes the transition to an AOR ballad quite well! If I have any complaint with this disc, it is lyrically rather than musically. At places it is painfully evident that the writer of lyrics is not a native English speaker. The overused cliches and idioms come a bit too fast and furious. That being said, however, I cannot fault the musical performance on the disc. The litmus test to me, regardless of any lyrical anomalies, is "Do I hum along to the music?", and "Do I want to play it again?", and the answer to both of these questions is "YES". It is most definitely melodic and gets your toes tapping! Keep an eye on these guys; they show great promise!! Rating: 84/100

There is no filler on the album. I guess, Purple Cross will get a deal with a major company soon.

Listening to this album, you'll hear a little bit of everything you've loved about AOR - some Styx, Journey, Kansas, and even a little Survivor here and there.

i prefer a bit more guitars and less keyboards but anyways, this is a very good aor/symphorock cd.

This work is a little monotonous. I won't say it's absolutly dull but it's not as complex as I prefer my melodic-rock (too less guitars BUT as well too less "killer" keyboard-harmonies, tomcat ). It's too "AORish" --that means it bores me a little. At least a "nice" album that doesn't harm anyone . Give it a 6,5 out of 10. Best songs are "Story of the game", "Goodbye", "Don't break my heart" & "You and I" as well, of course, as the PINK FLOYD coversong "Wish you were here" (I woul

Poor lyrics and unimaginably bad vocals from an album I am still trying to live with. The fact that they have not released a follow up yet hopefully means that they are working on making the second album sound a little more credible. Avoid!

Where do you see good melodies and good songs in this cd I can't really stand mate....Maybe it's the only aor cd you've listened to.It's one of the worst aor cd ever heard, totally boring, without a single memorable part....It's pure s**t!0/10.

Don't make it that bad Roxx! Actually I like "Goodbye" (nice but not great ballad) and the PINK FLOYD cover. However, I sold mine 'cos FACE FACE is indeed (much) better. If you really in AOR you should risk a listen, if you like soft-pop do so, but don't touch it if you are a melodicrocker (if not for the cover of P.F.). 5.9/10

ahahaha that's incredible that they've chosen a Pink Floyd song for cover, too.Pink Floyd is one of the boriest and awful band in the world for me(for my tastes, don't speak in general ok??).It's not a case that for me this band worth Z E R O.Sorry mate but that's my personal point of view....

Great album with catchy tunes. Not as good as Face Face or O'Ryan (Mervyn Spence' solo albums) IMO, but still very nice. If you are into AOR, you should enjoy this.

After several listenings this is not so ridicoulus as I thought, the singer Btw is not good even if the keys sounds are good and some songs is not so bad.I think I’ll hold it for the moment.
