From: Chris C. Date: January 29, 2001 at 15:40
This is a great album, if not often overlooked. Definitely check out track number 2!!!

From: Steve H Date: February 9, 2001 at 15:39
Criminally overlooked mainly because Track 2 is one of the best AOR tracks ever written. If you like Journey, this is for you.

From: Power Glam Date: May 8, 2001 at 20:07
Look that! These guys called Chris C. and Steve H. said to take a look at track 2... Here are much more to check out! If you wanna party all night long listen to tracks 4 and 7; if a girl is in your side, listen to tracks 6 and 12; if you're driving fast along the highway, listen to tracks 1 and 2 and reach for the sky, baby!

From: Date: May 8, 2001 at 20:28
Chris and Steve, i have a song for you: 'You've got a lot to learn about storm (and hard rock)'

From: Posy Date: May 8, 2001 at 20:30
Agreed!! All the album is very good!

From: Date: May 8, 2001 at 20:34
When they record the album that will contain the song 'You've a lot to learn about storm (and hard rock)', this song must be the track '2'! Maybe Steve and Chris like it!

From: Chris and Steve Date: May 8, 2001 at 20:38
In the Raw is the best song we've ever listened!!!!

From: Sebastian Date: May 9, 2001 at 11:10
Wow! Power Glam and Poser are right! Many pieces of shit like Chris and Steve think they know what hard rock is!

From: Jon Fiore Date: May 9, 2001 at 19:25
Yeah, guys! Chris and Steve sux! Storm is a holy hard rock band!

From: JT Date: May 12, 2001 at 18:53
You Guys have any Idea where Steve and Ross use to Play? What band? I do hahaha. By the way small minds, Chris and Steve said best AOR songs not hard rock songs. Big difference!!

From: Runaway Angel Date: May 23, 2001 at 19:44
You, stupid JT, have any idea what the difference between hard rock and AOR is? Of course this piece of shit doesn't! If you think absolutly that Storm is AOR, I'll sing a very song that is very familiar to Chris and Steve: You've got a lot to learn about hard rock (and AOR)...

From: Date: May 25, 2001 at 16:09
Funny thing that this sight has The Storm listed as AOR. Maybe the folks at this sight have it all wrong, who knows. The fact is that this band is very good with AOR songs and a Heavy edge. I don't think we would call Journey a heavy band but they have their times.

From: Runaway Angel Date: May 27, 2001 at 20:19
If you think Storm is AOR, it's OK... I'm not responsable for your concepts... but you if you say they have a heavy side, you have to think seriously about that! You feel a weight over you when you listen to Storm??? I don't! I can almost fly when listening to this Free Hard Rock band!

From: Date: May 28, 2001 at 10:23
You're right. Heavy wasn't the right word. Maybe they are a great band that show a great softer/melodic sige then can really kick in some fun rock songs. By heavy I was trying to say kickin rock not heavy as in weighty. Glad we can agree that in the rock world The Storm is one great band that many people missed out on and should grab when they see the album

From: Beau Date: July 7, 2001 at 2:17
Six of the songs are keepers. Songs 3,5,6,8,9,12 are fillers. 'In The Raw' is horrible, what a stupid song...

From: Mentalizer Date: July 13, 2001 at 21:14
I can't believe I'm reading that... Beau, do you have any notion of the great hard rock? Don't you have glam blood? You said songs 6 and 12 are just fillers??? Fuck! How can stupid people say they like hard rock???!!!

From: AOR Basement Date: August 19, 2001 at 2:33
I readily admit to being a little frustrated by this first album by The Storm. Sure some of the songs are good and the musicianship flawless, but on too many tracks the harder side of the band was emphasised and songs like 'Gimme Love' and the 'In the Raw' sounded rather labored and unrefined, lacking sensibility. At the time I felt it was the record label's doing as the original demos for the project (when they were still called 'The View' and Greg Rolie hadn't joined) were far superior.

From: Hard Basement Date: August 22, 2001 at 0:13
Everyone knows (even Chris) Gimme More and In the Raw are poor and boring songs. But we don't need to listen to them! Here are many amazing songs... songs that a few bands could reach their energy! I think so people see problems in 'The Storm' because they see this band like an AOR band... or worse... see analysing the production and the instruments...

From: koogles Date: January 1, 2002 at 17:58
This is one GREAT CD! A must for all Journey fans everywhere. But I strongly suggest seeking out their 1995 'Eye of the Storm' CD. As good as this one is, 'Eye' is THAT MUCH BETTER!! Much more consistent and there's no 'Gimme Love' and 'In the Raw'-type songs to skip past.

From: msosam66@hotmai Date: January 3, 2002 at 15:07
I haven´t heard this record yet, because I can´t find it in the stores, but I have 'In the eye of the storm', and is one of my favourite albums, an excellent AOR, I think this album, is more JOURNEY, than the Trial by Fire or Arrival, Kevin Chalfant was the perfect candidate to replace Steve Perry, well is my opinion.

From: Batom na Veia Date: January 24, 2002 at 15:50
Yeah! Eye Of The Storm is even better! Just one 'In The Raw' in the album (track 5). Don't Give Up is one of the greatest uplifting party anthems ever! The real Hard Rock! It's not even next to the AOR sound...

From: Wango Tango Date: February 6, 2002 at 14:32
Who said that 'The Vu' became 'The Storm'? The only members which are the same are Kevin Chalfant and Ross Valory. Hardly the same band. The Storm craftsmanship is much better than the The Vu. Eye of the Storm is great also, but, I'm of the few who like the first album better.

From: K.A.F. Date: March 7, 2002 at 2:11
SAW THE STORM OPEN FOR BRYAN ADAMS..........WOW.......WHAT A BAND MADE BRYAN ADAMS LOOK LIKE A FOOL, ANYONE WANTS TO PUT THE STORM DOWN SHOULD LOOK AT THE PLAYERS, THEIR MILES AHEAD OF THE REST.....NUFF SAID

From: Mike Date: March 22, 2002 at 13:58
Simply the best aor band ever

From: Kim Date: March 22, 2002 at 23:08
This album/cd is one of the best I`ve ever heard. Just bought 6 copies in a store which had a sale. the price was about 1,50 USD pr piece. I was laughing all the way home from the shop. GREAT STUFF. Also I just got a cd by a japanese band. Called Tilt Trick Does anyone know anything about them.?? Good stuff too.

From: Chief7 Date: May 11, 2002 at 21:01
I loved this album because it reminded me so much of the older Journey when Gregg Rollie was in it. Kicks Butt.

From: Desslar Date: May 13, 2002 at 2:16
This is great AOR, which reminds one of Journey from time to time. Rather lightweight overall, but plenty of date material.

From: Date: August 6, 2002 at 10:08
Check out Track 2!

From: Batom Na Veia Date: August 11, 2002 at 21:59
Check out track 7, obviously the best one!

From: robert Date: October 20, 2002 at 11:24

ONE OF THE VERY FEW BANDS THAT COULD OVERSHADOW THE GREAT ONES.BOTH ALBUMS ARE ABSOLUTE MUSTS FOR ANY RESPECTED AOR FANS!.

From: James Date: March 8, 2003 at 18:49
would have been a perfect 10 except for two songs. A must have for AOR fans. 9/10

From: Gar Date: May 5, 2003 at 4:15
A bit overlong, but otherwise this is a solid release. Did they ever tour with BAD ENGLISH? That would have been a JOURNEY lover's dream.

From: CC Date: October 19, 2003 at 19:32
Somebody gave me this CD a few years back & I wasnt impressed (never been a Journey fan anyway),but a few months ago I gave it another spin & I was hooked (went out & got the second album straight away). Two faves are 'I`ve got a lot to learn about love' & 'You`re gonna miss me!' Fantastic AOR/hard rock!

From: Rocker76 Date: December 11, 2003 at 10:03
AOR Heaven. But what do you expect with Journey's rhythm section and original keyboardist! Like most albums, a few songs are weaker and less worthy of mention. Personally, the first 2 songs made it worth my purchase. But definitely worth the buy for AOR and melodic hard rock fans.

From: jessica96fish Date: May 2, 2004 at 15:42
this is a classic.if you like journey two fires and the like then this is what you will want to hear.some real cool songs.

From: James Date: July 4, 2004 at 19:41
I saw this on Cassette, new and still packaged at Walmart for $1 This could have been a masterpiece but two songs bring it down to Great status

From: richyboy1975@ho Date: July 16, 2004 at 0:14
whoa, this brings back memories from the early 90's..(I was a teenager in 91) I liked this band and it sucked I never bought that album, I remember hearing 'Ive Got a Lot to Learn about love' and 'Show me the Way' on the radio all the time!..it's been years sense I've heard those songs! :-(

From: Steve Nightrain Date: September 1, 2004 at 13:14
a very good AOR album, almost all ballads are awesome, the hard rock tracks are pretty neat too, go get it, worth your penny

From: Wotty Date: September 1, 2004 at 13:27
To Steve Nightrain.Your comments are spot on about an excellent album...

From: Geoff Date: September 1, 2004 at 20:12
This is just a superb melodic rock album if ever there was one. The opener is class melodic rock and you know you've got a winner. The dual vocals are spectacular and compliment each other awesomely, and Mr Chalfant in particular sounds a million dollars. 'You're gonna miss me' is my fave, 'I want you back' and 'Still loving you' are other gems, but there are plenty on this one. Excellent CD. 'Touch and go' is very good too. Interesting track, I love it!

From: Max Date: September 28, 2004 at 17:52
Amazing album. Got it not too long ago and right now I am giving it like a 4th spin and it is already killer. The second one is also superb.

From: Border Rat Date: October 16, 2004 at 15:21
This cd and EYE OF THE STORM are in my opinion the greatest AOR releases of all time. This cd is just one big pleasant listen.

From: tokioblade Date: February 4, 2005 at 5:04
excelente, sin mas, un clasico en toda regla, aunque no es de lo mejor que he escuchado esta genial...un saludo tokioblade@hotmail.com

From: K.K. Poland Date: February 26, 2005 at 6:05
You're Gonna Miss Me is my fav. great song!! 10/10

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 29, 2005 at 21:35

From: ninjapeter Date: August 20, 2005 at 2:28
Very good album. Very well played. My only complaint would be that there are too many ballads so it starts to run together. Needs a little spicing up with variety. Don't get me wrong though I do like it a lot. I rate it 8/10.

From: POTENTE Date: May 24, 2006 at 12:52
Excellent album, big production, great songs and a couple of fillers, but that doesn't affect the overall quality.Buy it,and get their 2nd album, even better than this one.

From: insane Date: February 21, 2007 at 18:22
It's just me or nobody else here heard the first song of the album. The awesome 'You Keep Me Waiting'! Check it out.

From: coverdale14 Date: March 9, 2007 at 13:29
TO INSANE NOT ONLY THE OPENNING TRACK YOU KEEP ME WAITING IS AWESOME. ALL THE CD IS A MASTERPIECE. LONG LIVE HARD-AOR.

From: Andriy 203/A Date: March 11, 2007 at 4:42
amazing...

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 14, 2007 at 22:00
The Storm delivered a great piece of aor history here!.All the songs are soon to be considered 'icons'.Not a single weak song in it.10/10

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: July 6, 2007 at 19:05
YEAHH! AWESOME AOR ALBUM!!

classic AOR

From: kipvanpearcy Date: September 22, 2007 at 8:01
Not very interesting CD. Songs start OK, chorus is disappointing, rest is boring.

From: Maxi Date: February 21, 2008 at 23:30
hmm..i totally disagree with kipvanpearcy's opinion! i think is is a great & interesting debut from The Storm..very melodic AOR release! the whole tracks is awesome (songs, vocals, arrangement, sounds, etc) check out the opening track with mid tempo rock & the mighty ballad such 'show me the way'....what a damn great tracks! very recommended for AOR / melodic rock fans all over the world! 9/10

From: ace66 Date: September 21, 2008 at 22:04
Another album with inconsistencies,2nd album is better.

From: rbrigade Date: December 20, 2008 at 21:29
Never impressed me. I've always been a fan of the second album. 70/100

From: juan carlos Date: December 20, 2008 at 21:48
A classic album without any doubt. I agree with all the positive comments here, I agree more with Carlos A. and lalorock. A Must Have. 9.2/10

From: bugraycarife_TR Date: August 3, 2011 at 16:09
One of the best AOR album i've ever listened. 10/10. I totally agree with rick kerch vzla. My favorite songs are 4 and 7 too.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: August 3, 2011 at 20:59
This is a great album bugraycarife_TR!!!...cheers my friend

From: Doug Date: November 28, 2011 at 15:44
Interesting comments about this album over the years. Just picked it up myself a few days ago. 'Journey meets 707.' Somewhere in the middle, IMO.

From: Darren15 Date: February 14, 2013 at 10:34
CLASS CLASS CLASS .....along with Dare, Out Of The Silence and Strangeways, Walk In The Fire.... the holy grail of AOR

From: 123charpenay Date: July 5, 2017 at 13:22
better late than never.i discover only now in 2017 this masterpiece.it s obvious that with gregg rollie and ross valory the journey s influence is very present in this album.it s a top class (with a big C)a o r realise.this jewel is varied tracks 6 and 12 are two sensational ballads, track 5 is a beautiful a o r song, tracks 9 and 10 are some two hard rock s atomic bombs.the rest is a fantastic demonstration of hard f m.only track 8 is a little average.the ice on the cake is the two killer hits of this jewel."in the raw" and "take me away" deserve to be played twenty times by day on all the radios of this planet.this cd is absoluty essential in all serious collection of melodic rock.

From: hair metal again Date: November 20, 2017 at 8:53
a clear masterpiece for THE STORM under the guidance of legendary Beau Hill (you can t go wrong with this guy)!bombastic commercial hard rock release with amazing sound, songs, musicianship for a release that has it all!essential for sure if you didnt buy it back in the day like i did

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: February 1, 2021 at 15:04
They should've called themselves Badder English, as they're another in a sizable subset of "supergroup" projects comprised of washed-up AOR guys making dated, vanilla pop-rock. Forget hair-bands - it's neutered corporate-rock groups like The Storm and RTZ and, yes, Bad English that made grunge necessary.

From: edwithmj Date: February 8, 2021 at 14:46
'Made grunge necessary.' Necessary for what exactly? I don't care if this group is COMPOSED of 'washed-up AOR guys' or were just starting out, this is an excellent AOR album with only a couple of forgettable songs. My favourites would have to be tracks 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 11, with the forgettable ones being tracks 3 and 9. It's good to have another album with Gregg Rolie at the helm since he hasn't done nearly enough stuff post-Journey. If I wanted my musical taste to be popular, I'd listen to modern hip-hop or whatever.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: February 9, 2021 at 14:11
Necessary because this music sounds like work. It doesn't sound like fun, or a creative outlet, or an emotional release - it sounds like another day at the office writing advertising jingles. They may as well have been singing about light beer or sunscreen. You heard these kinds of musical marshmallows in commercials a lot back then. I keep waiting for the announcer to pop up and yell "Anheuser-Busch, St. Louis, Missouri" over the outros of the songs.

From: edwithmj Date: October 17, 2022 at 11:34
You sound like you watch far too much TV; if you don't like the music on adverts, stop watching them. Why is that a bad thing anyway? Regarding the music not sounding like an emotional release, I disagree wholeheartedly: Still Loving You is an amazing song lyrically and oozes emotion.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: October 17, 2022 at 13:15
Dude, don't get all pissy and petulant because somebody else doesn't swoon over this milquetoast music with you. If you like it, great—I don't, and it shouldn't hurt your feelings. "If you don't like the music on adverts, stop watching them." Jesus Christ!

From: 123charpenay Date: October 17, 2022 at 14:43
if jesus christ himself listen hard f m................lol.......

From: edwithmj Date: October 17, 2022 at 17:34
No need tot ake the Lord's name in vain old bean. Just wondering why every decent album on this site is littered with your cookie cutter criticisms: 'it's played on adverts' 'it's too soft' etc. Strangely enough this is a fan site for AOR and hard rock therefore your bland comments are going to cause contention.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: October 18, 2022 at 12:23
It's funny, you leave comments on lots of albums I like calling them boring, dull, no memorable songs, don't understand the high praise, etc. And I don't piss and moan that you should only leave positive thoughts or comment only on the ones you like. Since when was that ever a rule here? Sure, I'll debate with somebody if I think there's an interesting point to be made, but in the end, I don't give a shit that somebody has di"erent tastes than mine and says so on a website. So what?
