Funny thing that this sight has The Storm listed as AOR. Maybe the folks at this sight have it all wrong, who knows. The fact is that this band is very good with AOR songs and a Heavy edge. I don't think we would call Journey a heavy band but they have their times.

If you think Storm is AOR, it's OK... I'm not responsable for your concepts... but you if you say they have a heavy side, you have to think seriously about that! You feel a weight over you when you listen to Storm??? I don't! I can almost fly when listening to this Free Hard Rock band!

You're right. Heavy wasn't the right word. Maybe they are a great band that show a great softer/melodic sige then can really kick in some fun rock songs. By heavy I was trying to say kickin rock not heavy as in weighty. Glad we can agree that in the rock world The Storm is one great band that many people missed out on and should grab when they see the album

I readily admit to being a little frustrated by this first album by The Storm. Sure some of the songs are good and the musicianship flawless, but on too many tracks the harder side of the band was emphasised and songs like 'Gimme Love' and the 'In the Raw' sounded rather labored and unrefined, lacking sensibility. At the time I felt it was the record label's doing as the original demos for the project (when they were still called 'The View' and Greg Rolie hadn't joined) were far superior.

Everyone knows (even Chris) Gimme More and In the Raw are poor and boring songs. But we don't need to listen to them! Here are many amazing songs... songs that a few bands could reach their energy! I think so people see problems in 'The Storm' because they see this band like an AOR band... or worse... see analysing the production and the instruments...

This is one GREAT CD! A must for all Journey fans everywhere. But I strongly suggest seeking out their 1995 'Eye of the Storm' CD. As good as this one is, 'Eye' is THAT MUCH BETTER!! Much more consistent and there's no 'Gimme Love' and 'In the Raw'-type songs to skip past.

I haven´t heard this record yet, because I can´t find it in the stores, but I have 'In the eye of the storm', and is one of my favourite albums, an excellent AOR, I think this album, is more JOURNEY, than the Trial by Fire or Arrival, Kevin Chalfant was the perfect candidate to replace Steve Perry, well is my opinion.

Yeah! Eye Of The Storm is even better! Just one 'In The Raw' in the album (track 5). Don't Give Up is one of the greatest uplifting party anthems ever! The real Hard Rock! It's not even next to the AOR sound...

Who said that 'The Vu' became 'The Storm'? The only members which are the same are Kevin Chalfant and Ross Valory. Hardly the same band. The Storm craftsmanship is much better than the The Vu. Eye of the Storm is great also, but, I'm of the few who like the first album better.

This album/cd is one of the best I`ve ever heard. Just bought 6 copies in a store which had a sale. the price was about 1,50 USD pr piece. I was laughing all the way home from the shop. GREAT STUFF. Also I just got a cd by a japanese band. Called Tilt Trick Does anyone know anything about them.?? Good stuff too.

Somebody gave me this CD a few years back & I wasnt impressed (never been a Journey fan anyway),but a few months ago I gave it another spin & I was hooked (went out & got the second album straight away). Two faves are 'I`ve got a lot to learn about love' & 'You`re gonna miss me!' Fantastic AOR/hard rock!

AOR Heaven. But what do you expect with Journey's rhythm section and original keyboardist! Like most albums, a few songs are weaker and less worthy of mention. Personally, the first 2 songs made it worth my purchase. But definitely worth the buy for AOR and melodic hard rock fans.

whoa, this brings back memories from the early 90's..(I was a teenager in 91) I liked this band and it sucked I never bought that album, I remember hearing 'Ive Got a Lot to Learn about love' and 'Show me the Way' on the radio all the time!..it's been years sense I've heard those songs! :-(

This is just a superb melodic rock album if ever there was one. The opener is class melodic rock and you know you've got a winner. The dual vocals are spectacular and compliment each other awesomely, and Mr Chalfant in particular sounds a million dollars. 'You're gonna miss me' is my fave, 'I want you back' and 'Still loving you' are other gems, but there are plenty on this one. Excellent CD. 'Touch and go' is very good too. Interesting track, I love it!

Yeah Great AOR album, un Gran album de AOR, muy Journey, para mi el mejor de la banda You're Gonna Miss Me, You Keep Me Waiting (mis favoritos pero hay varios por elegir), I've Got a Lot to Learn, Call Me... un album muy completo por ahi un par de temas rockeros pero estan buenos, un disco Imprescindible en toda coleccion de un amante del AOR 100% Recomendado asi como su siguiente gran obra un grupo que dejo 2 grandes legados para la humanidad.

Very good album. Very well played. My only complaint would be that there are too many ballads so it starts to run together. Needs a little spicing up with variety. Don't get me wrong though I do like it a lot. I rate it 8/10.

hmm..i totally disagree with kipvanpearcy's opinion! i think is is a great & interesting debut from The Storm..very melodic AOR release! the whole tracks is awesome (songs, vocals, arrangement, sounds,etc) check out the opening track with mid tempo rock & the mighty ballad such 'show me the way'....what a damn great tracks! very recommended for AOR / melodic rock fans all over the world! 9/10

better late than never.i discover only now in 2017 this masterpiece.it s obvious that with gregg rollie and ross valory the journey s influence is very present in this album.it s a top class (with a big C)a o r realise.this jewel is varied tracks 6 and 12 are two sensational ballads,track 5 is a beautiful a o r song,tracks 9 and 10 are some two hard rock s atomic bombs.the rest is a fantastic demonstration of hard f m.only track 8 is a little average.the ice on the cake is the two killer hits of this jewel."in the raw" and "take me away" deserve to be played twenty times by day on all the radios of this planet.this cd is absoluty essential in all serious collection of melodic rock.

They should've called themselves Badder English, as they're another in a sizable subset of "supergroup" projects comprised of washed-up AOR guys making dated, vanilla pop-rock. Forget hair-bands - it's neutered corporate-rock groups like The Storm and RTZ and, yes, Bad English that made grunge necessary.

I don't care if this group is COMPOSED of 'washed-up AOR guys' or were just starting out, this is an excellent AOR album with only a couple of forgettable songs. My favourites would have to be tracks 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 11, with the forgettable ones being tracks 3 and 9. It's good to have another album with Gregg Rolie at the helm since he hasn't done nearly enough stuff post-Journey. If I wanted my musical taste to be popular, I'd listen to modern hip-hop or whatever.

Necessary because this music sounds like work. It doesn't sound like fun, or a creative outlet, or an emotional release - it sounds like another day at the office writing advertising jingles. They may as well have been singing about light beer or sunscreen. You heard these kinds of musical marshmallows in commercials a lot back then. I keep waiting for the announcer to pop up and yell "Anheuser-Busch, St. Louis, Missouri" over the outros of the songs.

You sound like you watch far too much TV; if you don't like the music on adverts, stop watching them. Why is that a bad thing anyway? Regarding the music not sounding like an emotional release, I disagree wholeheartedly: Still Loving You is an amazing song lyrically and oozes emotion.

It's funny, you leave comments on lots of albums I like calling them boring, dull, no memorable songs, don't understand the high praise, etc. And I don't piss and moan that you should only leave positive thoughts or comment only on the ones you like. Since when was that ever a rule here? Sure, I'll debate with somebody if I think there's an interesting point to be made, but in the end, I don't give a shit that somebody has di"erent tastes than mine and says so on a website. So what?
