Criminally over-looked rocker should have scored big with "Playin' On the Radio", a Michael Morales/Richard Marx style anthem. Other moments on this CD are silly ("Easy Money") or derivative ("American Girl" sounds like a cheap version of every Bon Jovi ballad ever written) but "Kelly Be My Girl" is another Michael Morales style AOR anthem that goes down smoother than a quart of grape Kool-Aid on a hot summer day. Overall, a pretty hit-or-miss affair, with a slight tilt towards "hit".

In total agreement with Koogles here - I really liked the derivative Morales meets Jovi attitude. American Girl is a classic lump of quality cheeze.

Say what you want but this is one of my all time favorite AOR cd's!! Excellent hooks and fantastic playing all over this cd. Whatever happened to this great talent? Playin on the Radio always reminded me of that one Ravyns song on the Fast Times at Ridgemont high soundtrack. Anyways - highly recommended to any true fan of great AOR!!

This is a good cd that is very consistent and well produced . . . no need to skip thru songs on this one.

I picked up this album on a recommendation from Boulevard magazine (who went on to form Now and then records). Not all of it hits the mark but Kelly be my girl and Playing on the radio are pop metal classics that would have been massive in the hands of a Bon Jovi or Firehouse. Incidentally my version had 11 tracks not the 8 mentioned here.

Good AOR album but with a lot of Rockers moments, claro como dicen arriba al estilo de Michael Morales(claro que Michael es superior) y con cruce de Bon Jovi eso si la gran parte del album anda en plan Rockero, con sus buenos cortes como Playin on the Radio, Lookin For America, Only the Young el resto de cortes en onda mas Rockera, si te gustan estilos asi lo puedes tener en cuenta.

In agreement with all the fellows above specially my spanish speaking mate Rafo Phoenix ..a very good album that mixes rocking yet catchy tracks plus some other ones AOR oriented...my faves are "Playin On The Radio","Looking For America"(nice mid tempo),"Only The Young"(catchy),"Sail On"(nice) & "Born To Rock"(rocks!)...recommended...84/100

excellent commercial rock release by RICK MATHEWS back in 91 !imagine a lighter BLUE TEARS sound ,with similar hooks ,choruses and songs that are written to be a hit!all the songs are ok ,but nothin blowmindin while the musicianship and especially the guitar solos pretty good!highly recommended if you like such stuff &sound
