Original version of Downtown first released on this Recording. The band would re-record this song twice more with vocalist Billy Kohout, who joined the group in 1988.

Good songs and well produced. Robin was a real screamer but put on a good show. Highlights on this one are "Hang 'Em High," "School of Hard Knocks," and the original version of "Downtown." Good stuff, but they did MUCH better later on. Love you guys!

Got this tape and still love it but I played it to death. Heard 'School of hard knock" on radio in Huntington WV in 1988 and won this tape from the radio station. Bought Jailhouse Tattoo later on CD and its cool too. I seen the band in June of 90' and they was the best I ever saw.

Mixed well and features catchy tunes. "Hang," "School," "Downtown," & "Dog" are the best ones here. Sounds like the band was searching for their own niche but didn't find it until Billy Kohout joined the group on the next recording. Better than average material here; good driving music full of high energy. Des Forges could sing, but Kohout was better suited for this band's musical style. maddogaaron@hotmail.com

Saw them in '90 with Misty Rox opening. Great show. Aretha, are you the one that jumped on the drummer for Rox? I remember some girl with that name doing that. Grimm ruled, went to see them everytime that were around a 100 mile area.

Definitely! The singer on this one sucks for air! The songs are really good but Billy would have made them sound so much better. Just listen to the version of 'Downtown' on the "Partners' Ep---IT'S GREAT! This Robin guy sounds like he's badly constipated. They should have gave him an enema and sent him on his merry way and gotten Billy Kohout to sing in the band earlier.

I've heard much better singers--Billy Kohout is one. This tape is average, nothing really stands out.

It's got some good songs like 'School' and 'Hang' and I've heard much worse, but I've also heard much better. Skip it and get their other stuff because it is TEN times better than this one.

Nice to find some GJ sites online theses days! 'Guns' is pretty good but not the best they could do, but the songs are as good as lots of other bands who were out then. Singer reminds me of the guy from Faster Pussycat. 'School" and "Hang 'Em" are really good songs. There other stuff was much better but this one is still pretty good.

Good guitar sound and cool songs. Looks like many people don't care for the singer but in my opinion he was pretty good. I admit I like Kohout better, but Des Forges did a good job here.

This tape was one of the lamest things I have ever heard. I listened to it once all the way through and that was more than enough. The singer was really bad.

This one is RARE. It ain't as bad as people say. Give it a few listens and you'll see it is as good as Pussycat. I do think Kohout was a better singer than the guy on this album, but it has some good tunes on it still.

I agree with most everyone else here that Billy Kohout was a better singer for this band's style. This one does have some good songs on it though.

Are you people high? Robin Des Forges was the high pitched epitome of what every glam frontman was trying to do back then...he carried derivitive, uninspired Johnny Thunders-ripoff rock into a place that was uniquely badass. Billy, on the other hand, sounded like Lita Ford with lung cancer.

I heard this one after their later stuff with Billy Kohout singing and was disappointed. The music is good on this one but the singer sounds too much like he's in pain or something--keeps screaming.

Didn't see in any of these threads if it says this or not, but this has never been officially released on CD, if you find one it is a boot. Got this info straight from the guitar player Jimmie.

This band displays some kind of Faster Pussycat sound in their songs...the production is average,pretty average i'd say...tracks 3,4 & 6 are ok for me...maybe track 1 as well...nothing to kill for in here honestly but still it managed to get a decent rate of 70/100 in my book...
