YES,IT IS QUITE GOOD, BUT ' RIGHTEOUS ANGER' IS BETTER!! BY THE WAY, 'Suspicious Heart ' IS A MASTERPIECE!!!!

From: ROB GARCIA Date: January 25, 2003 at 16:05
this one starts where righteous anger left off,and somehow he managed to make a better record although i consider both to be of the same level in quality terms but this one is a bit more melodious.top notch aor from a pure genious who left us too soon!.

Love Van Stephenson, No Secrets is a great song. It fits right in with my metal mixes.

From: Chris Date: October 30, 2003 at 23:22
What a truly great album this is. Wonderful stuff. 'Desperate hours' and 'Suspicious Heart' are such superb songs. I miss this kinda stuff so much.

From: Gazza Date: August 20, 2004 at 8:35
Just picked up this album on CD. Had a really bad audio copy of this back in 1989 and didn't think much of it at the time. Some tracks sound a bit dated but it is still a Great AOR/M Rock album. Fans of his work with Giant will love it. Not a bad song on the album. 9/10.

From: Heavy.AOR Date: September 21, 2006 at 16:22
BRILLIANT 10/10.But song 'Suspicious Heart' is a 11*/10 very great AOR song.

From: newscandi Date: December 8, 2006 at 14:12
THe singer's voice immitiately reminded me on THORSTEN FLAKNE from STAGE DOLLS. Musically the two bands are not so far away from each other too. This version of SUSPICIOUS HEART I'd even rate a little bit higher than that from WORRALL. Soundwise it's all amongst the best AOR bands as also BLVD. or RED DAWN. The songs all shine except maybe some in the middle of the CD. At least this 'High Vaultage' re-release from 1996 seems to be a bit bad produced (I hear some crackles using the CD portable).

From: Refugee80 Date: August 27, 2007 at 12:16

Classic album, all the tracks are great, melodic rock,AOR perfection, vocals remind me Bryan Adams meets Brian Howe,10/10.

From: juan carlos Date: January 4, 2010 at 20:46
I put my comments here, what's up? oh well, i have to be completely agree with Lalo R.o.c.k, Great AOR, perfection: that`s the word for this Jewel. Period. 10/10

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 12, 2011 at 19:40
More or less in the same direction as Righteous Anger...both albums are really good to have indeed...it is a shame that Van has left us way too soon phisically but that's how life goes ...anyway for me the best shot of this record is the last track "No Secrets" but u can find some other goodies in "We're Doing Alright","(We Should Be)Together Tonight"(this one is a brilliant smooth song),"Suspicious Heart"(catchy),"Fist Full Of Heart" & "Make It Glamorous"...get it...86/100

From: 123charpenay Date: July 6, 2012 at 10:48

Van Stephenson is really a must, i agree with you. I also have an older vinyl of Van. CHINA GIRL. First Track on it LION IN THE NIGHT is really a lost gem. Anyone else knows it?

From: aTomiK Date: January 24, 2014 at 12:40
I own the Grand Slamm Records China Girl cd pressing. Itīs a good album, maybe i should submit the disc to HH.

From: Harald Date: December 21, 2018 at 15:05
Desert Island Top 10 AOR album for me, not a single bad moment on it.

From: tomdwa Date: March 11, 2020 at 16:28
Very true that this should have been / should be huge. Top american quality-aor, and as others have already written with an undeniable nostalgic 80s-feel. There may be a few fillers on the album, but the stand-out tracks (Suspicious heart (a true classic), Never enough night (impressive ballad), Desperate hours) are so emblematic that the album remains a must-have!

From: hair metal again Date: September 23, 2022 at 6:32
excellent release for VAN STEPHENSON back in 86 with his songwriting ability being the mane attraction ,as the melodic lines are the finest!his voice is also very appropriate and he reminds me of BRYAN ADAMS s!all the songs are great and especially "never enough night","(we should be)together tonight" and "desperate hours"!brilliant
