Third outing by 2.5 members (Drummer DNA) of Dokken minus Mason who has bowed out doing other projects. In his replacement is none other than the vox from Girish and the Chronicles who has one of the best set of pipes in hard rock/metal today. I won't hold it against Girish that he sang on a tribute album to Michael Bolton called Steel Bars (2023). From what I know of Bolton he's been in the hair bands witness protection program since becoming a converted crooner, disavowing his early 80's past. Back to this release, "Killer of the Night" and "Silent Winter" are good at showcasing Pradhan's exploding vocals and Lynch's heavy riffage. Pradhan's singing is versatile, as he can sing metal to MHR/AOR in a drop of the hat. I'm not immediately blown away by this release but it's good with a cross between melodic metal and bluesy hard rock. I hope Pradhan doesn't get Michael Sweet syndrome, spreading himself too thin. As I think Girish and the Chronicles best album is yet to come.

The latest mail-it-in Frontiers' release from Lefties: Lynch & Pilson...George can still rip and Jeff can still belt out the backing vox w/ the best of em'...but the singer is effectively awful. His vox are a non-starter.My guess is Mason got tired of listening to their leftwing horsesh!t and bolted.

@Metal T, does this mean Lynch & Pilson play "progressive" chords? Please elaborate on what makes Pradham an "effectively awful" singer. You have some original thoughts on talent, as I recently gave a review for Victory - Liveline (1993). You said "The deal breaker for me were Garcia's vox". HUH? Who's your gold standard in which all lead singers shall be compared to? Lemmy from Motorhead? Everyone has different taste, but just because you don't care for a vocalist doesn't mean they should not be appreciated as a talent (if they have some). For example Mike Matijevic, the lead vocalist of Steelheart. In his multi-octave range prime, some found his high register vocal range annoying. Does that mean he is not a gifted singer? Bottom line, back up your negative comments, as they are totally unfair. Here's Exhibit A of Girish's full time gig, listen & learn. Long time,no hear Horsey? I can't speak for what other posters will say on this one,but im sure you'll find that some fans might miss Robert Mason's presence on said record, some may not."Everyone has different taste"...yeah i agree no sh!t.Bringing up a 17 year old quote is pretty lame...but i'll admit to coming around on Garcia' over time i think he's pretty solid and probably should have got an invite back to 'Victory' at some point.

Was pissed Mason was replaced & came in expecting little but gotta admit, Girish keeps most those highs in check and kills it here, even sounding like Mason at times. Surprisingly better than last year's Babylon which I dug a ton, & the best thing Lynch has done in eons, Quantum Phase is fantastic in fact tbh may as well have just labelled this stuff Lynch Mob. The opening track aside everything else here is killer old-school early-era Lynch Mob riffs infused with some new, with at times splashes of Dokken. I mean check out Shattered Glass Heart and its singalong finale which rolls perfectly into Time which is another great song. Never just assume nor judge a book by its cover (which tbf is a little ordinary), I reckon this is modern melrock done right (Pilson surely the magic ingredient). Recommend folks give this a fair chance because they may be pleasantly surprised \m/

I think Girish's choice of vocals in the band's third round is very successful. A young vocalist with vocal strength, who at times turns the band into pure heavy metal. I hope he continues in the future, before he gets the call from Rachel Bolan and co. 9/10
