| I hated "Soldiers" when it was all over the radio back in 2012. Partly because it was an overly earnest, sophomoric flag-waver aimed at red-state dullards; if I want that, I'll listen to country music. But my main gripe ist it sounds like Three Days Grace, whom I despise. Just the first couple lines sung in this guy's baritone drone are enough to make me laugh. Then you get the whole tuneless "Whoa-oh-whoa-oh" chant, compleete with marching-boots sound effects (in slow motion though—Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann would be screaming at them to move their asses, goddammit!). It's like all the worst parts of Three Days Grace and Five Finger Death Punch all rolled into one awful song. They've gone on to have some other hits (none of which do much to change my opinion), but in most people's minds they're still "that band that does the song about the soldiers. You know? We are sol-diers, we are sol-diers, whoa-oh, whoa-oh. (Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp.)
