I have had the album for years and consider the best of the best for 1983. I have played the album to death and still play it often. Dream Theater, Petra, Head East and Arcangel are the best. I play it loud loud. Every Song is good. I am only speaking my opinion to it. Jeff Cannata did great job putting this type album together and is worth a listen. dkwhitevv@aol.com david kelly white

A master piece in every sense of the word. This AOR cd gets your attention from song#1.

From: music man Date: October 22, 2001 at 7:44
This AOR wonder has stood the test of time. It sounds as great today as it did in 83. If you like melodic AOR music, this is a must have.

From: koogles Date: January 2, 2002 at 5:51
Lofty AOR from the early '80s still makes sense (mostly) in 2002. Apart from the banal 'Rock Me Tonight', this is a classy outing that is well worth seeking out on CD.

From: msosam66@hotmai Date: January 3, 2002 at 14:17
IS ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS, THAT I HAVE HEARD, I THINK IS ONE OF THE BEST OF THE EIGHTIES, AND STILL SOUND SO ACTUAL. IT´S AN OBLIGATORY RECORD.

From: Hans Date: March 6, 2002 at 15:53
If you guys liked this one, you should take a closer look on Jeff Cannats Solo works. They're in the same vein, excellent AOR!

From: MelodicRocker Date: May 16, 2002 at 17:07
Hey!! What a sound! This cd have the same kinda sound as the early 'Strangeways' cd had back in 1984! =) Well..ok..not through the whole cd..but close enough to make it sound AWESOME! I really enjoy this CD..too bad the second release wasn't as good as this one =/ A MUST! for any AOR fan out there!

From: freddy de keyze Date: September 24, 2002 at 3:40
I have to agree with the other comments ! This is a beauty, a MASTERPIECE from Jeff. Fantastic, swirling keyboards, seldom heard on a disc and excellent songs made this an absolute MUST HAVE !

From: Andre Tekken Date: January 7, 2003 at 16:46
This is a damm difficult to find CD!!!I recently got mine from Japan after waiting and insisting 6 months for it,just because the last print of it was on 1996.Well,classy early 80`s AOR quite progressive sometimes. As expected Jeff Cannata`s trademark, his soft signature singing.Mellow keyboards and melodies, interesting arrengements typical from the first half of the 80`s.Top songs'Tragedy','Sidelines''Rock me Tonight'.Average record but considered a classic.76 out of 10.

From: freddy de keyze Date: January 17, 2003 at 8:51
Andre, you must be joking. This an average record !? Well, well . . . tell me which actual record is better, man ! This is worth 90 0ecause it's classic ! Never heard such swirling keys !!! POmp heaven !!!!

From: Chris Date: June 4, 2003 at 8:08
Brilliant release..I remember when this first came out and i heard 'Stars', i was blown into heaven. There is not one duff song here, they are all real belters. There are not a lot of albums i would give a full rating of 10/10 (could count those on one hand), but this one comes very, very close. 9.5/10

A STERLING performance! This was light years ahead of it's time regarding production values. There was nothing that sounded this good when it was released. And the musicianship & songwriting was incredible as well. I remember my friends being blown away by this whenever I played it for them years ago. Why it wasn't a huge commercial success is beyond me. But then again, who ever said the music industry was fair?

From: AOR freaky Date: November 25, 2003 at 11:28
10 out of 10 for this one ! Do you want keyboards ? DO YOU WANT KEYBOARDS ? YOU HAVE 'EM ! This is so wonderful ! Boy ! How good music can be proves mr.Cannata ! A MUST !!!!! And to all AOR and pomp fans ! Search out the mighty 'GLORY DAZE' website ! There you find all information about AOR AND POMP ACTS, also from the seventies and eigthies ! Great !!!!!

an unforgettable masterpiece...TOP!!!

From: espo Date: January 20, 2004 at 17:32
As you might expect, the music is full of majestic and bombastic keyboards, but with a delicate touch that evoke a plethora of emotions. Pure pomp/AOR heaven and a celestial experience. Velvety tones, impressive choruses, a melancholic vibe and several tracks that feature a lot of pathos: nothing less than excellent. This album is a true masterpiece and deserves the highest score [100%]

From: Rycheage Date: May 12, 2004 at 23:23
This is another of those albums which makes an immediate impression with melodic rockers everywhere. It's still recognized as one of the more bombastic AOR releases of the genre and appealing due to the vocal overdubs, generous keyboards and crisp drums. For me, Arcangel has more of a Aldo Nova type sound, with Jeff's vocals heading down Jon Anderson (Yes) alley.

From: Andi from Italy Date: October 19, 2004 at 12:25
Arc Angel is one of the best bands ever. Check out 'King of the mountain, Sidelines, and Wanted: dead or alive'!

This is full blown AOR Pomp rock of the finest order. A true classic that you keep turning back to on a regular basis.

Totally awesome album. I seem to remember some jerk at Kerrang or a similar magazine in a retrospective of older albums calling this a waste of vinyl. I hope I meet that guy one day and make candles out of the copious amount of ear wax blocking his hearing. I think Before the Storm would be a great track for a band to use as an intro! There are no bad tracks at all on this album...Mr. Cannata is a genius!!

Spot on Nick - this is a fabulous release.Somebody mentioned the Aldo Nova comparison somewhere above, and that is a good starting place, although i think a few of the tracks sound similar to the late great Balance, especially 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' and 'the superb 'Tragedy'. Another one of those must have releases from the 80's, so go get it if you can find it. It is getting pretty rare these days, as i think it was only released as a Jap import.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 20, 2004 at 9:00
CLARO QUE SI MUCHACHOS UN CLASICO ABSOLUTO DEL AOR, Y UNO DE LOS MEJORES DEL 83, AQUI CANNATA SI DEMOSTRO TODA SU CALIDAD Y SIN DUDA ES EL MEJOR ALBUM QUE TENDRA, A DIFERENCIA DE LOS SIGUIENTES ESTE SE MERECE LA GLORIA TOTAL Y LA ELEVACION DE CLASICO ABSOLUTO DEL AOR. TEMAS COMO Tragedy (LA MEJOR Y MI FAVORITA), Sidelines HACEN UN TREMENDO ALBUM, EL RESTO DE TEMAS TAMBIEN ACOMPAÑAN DE BUENA FORMA. SALUDOS DESDE SANTIAGO ICA-PERU.

Difficult to track down now, and I haven't seen it around too often . Another Jap only release. Best bet would be Ebay as usual.

From: swriter Date: August 26, 2005 at 12:04
well, since I have been here, my ebay purchases could equal a new car, why am I broke????? hahahahaha

From: Nick C Date: August 26, 2005 at 12:16
You know what I bought this as soon as it was released on CD (having it on vinyl already), I bought it at Virgin Records in rainy Manchester and I'm sure mine ain't a Japanese copy...I'll have to check when I get home.

From: zld Date: August 26, 2005 at 20:40
I believe this one was re-released a couple of years ago, along with his 'Images of forever' records.

From: Geoff Date: August 27, 2005 at 7:34
I don't get it AOR Freaky?! Jez can't like this album. He likes Ra! Didn't you say he's not allowed to like modern rock AND AOR? I was going to say that although this album sounds like a zapping 80's arcade game, 'Sidelines' and 'Wanted' are still awesome songs, and this is actually a pretty good disc. But I just want to check with you first. I also like modern rock so if I understand you correctly I'm not allowed to like this also? Please get back to me if I'm allowed to like this too. Thanks.

F***K ME!!! in 1983 how could it be possible to release an album with such a perfect production??? i must confess, i´m not such a big fan of soft rock, but this album sounds so good, it really got my attention!!! i havent even listend to all of it yet, and allready i like it!!! Lite AOR mágico y elegante; gran disco. Muy buenas todas las canciones, sin altibajos, aunque hay temas que destacan como Stars, Tragedy, Just Another Romance o King of the mountain. 8,75/10.

OTRO DISCAZO QUE HE TENIDO LA SUERTE DE ENCONTRAR EN VINILO EN LA FERIA DEL DISCO DE BARCELONA. Y ADEMÁS IMPECABLEMENTE CUIDADO. UN SUPERLATIVO AOR, DE LOS 80´S, CÓMO NO. IMPRESIONANTE.

From: poproxx2007 Date: November 19, 2006 at 18:08
This is superb!! Amazing AOR in the highest order. Perhaps in the top 10 best recordings of all time imo. The following releases are good but nowhere near the sheer perfection as this slab of sonic savary. 10/10

From: radoslav Date: November 21, 2006 at 4:38
This cd is perfect, total classic.TOP 10 all times. Fantastic AOR.

From: sanxdowntherainbow Date: March 4, 2007 at 17:29
This one's so damn great! As much said above the production is REALLY great! Cannata's vocals are really amazing, If like this one, check out: CHARLIE S/T, PREVIEW S/T, THRILLS '3', also from '83. 10/10

UN0 DE MIS TOP 10 DE AOR DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS. LO COMPARO AL PRIMERO DE VAN ZANT, AL PRIMERO DE ALIEN, AL TOUGH IT OUT DE FM, AL DE PREVIEW, AL DE I-TEN, A LOS DE STRANGEWAYS, BEAU GESTE, HEARTLAND, VIRGINIA WOLF. IMPRESIONANTE DISCO DE JEFF CANNATA. LARGA VIDA AL AOR. SALUDOS DESDE SABADELL (BARCELONA) VIVA EL R.C.D ESPAÑOL. A POR LA UEFA.

From: lalorock Date: May 14, 2007 at 20:28

From: DANTE Date: June 15, 2007 at 12:39
SUPERLATIVO. IMPRESIONANTE AOR.

From: TONI MALLORCA Date: July 30, 2007 at 13:40

From: YIRO SEVENTH Date: October 6, 2007 at 19:10

From: BICHOAOR Date: June 12, 2010 at 22:18

Very nice album with that typical AOR sound of the early 80's...vocally pleasant(Jeff Cannata )and good musicianship(from Jeff Bova to Hugh McDonald-actual Bon Jovi bass player-among others)...my favourites are 'Sidelines' & 'Confession' but add to that the nice starter 'Stars','Tragedy'(catchy),'Used To Think I'd Never Fall In Love'(nice softy)& 'Just Another Romance'...recommended album...87/100

From: Richard Head Date: September 18, 2011 at 11:59
Classic A.O.R.!!! I do believe Rock Candy will be reissuing it.

From: pompster80 Date: July 10, 2012 at 17:05
Production, songwriting, musicianship - no weak or average point can be found here even if compared to current standards. There is no filler on the album, just pure perfection. My personal favourites are 'Tragedy' and 'King Of The Mountain', the last track that makes you listen to this POMP-MASTERPIECE again and againand again... Second to none.

From: titothetitan Date: November 17, 2017 at 11:13
First four songs are great. But then comes the average 'Rock Me Tonight' and the boring instrumental 'Before the Storm'. In 'Confession' there's too much crap added in. 'King of the Mountain' and the bonus 'Court of the Crimson King', both songs sounds so displaced. That's why I won't rate this album higher. 85/100.
