Excellent melodic hard rock release. By no means nothing new at all, but if you like straight down the line, by numbers melodic rock done with few flaws you'll like this one. Not perfect, but I really like it. I remember reading about them in late 80's issues of Kerrang and this is from 1994. I got it for a good price, about what it is listed as up here, and for a good price I really quite highly recommend it. Good melodic hard rock like a harder Scandi sound on acts like Treat, Masquerade, Fate

Indeed, Geoff, you admit it yourselves: hardrock by numbers here ! Nothing special at all and far from excellent ! How can it be excellent if you say (and it's right !) that this is hardrock by numbers ! ? ? ? ? ? ? Do you still know what you write ? Same with Mark Spiro and Eyes ! You love 'King Of Crows', while we all know that it is laidback and very, very acoustic and soft, and you don't like 'Windows Of The Soul', cause it's too soft, while it is metal in comparison with the latest MS !

How do explain that ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? The songs ? Those from Eyes are better than on 'King Of Crows' ? Sound ? Also better ! Singing ? Also better ! Musianship ? Also better ! It's way heavier and you don't like it ! And you do like this !!!!!! Incredible guy you are, Geoff ! Don't think there's one person in the whole universe who can understand you ! Strange, very strange !

Okay simple man, allow me to explain - Vandamme: As I stated, what they do is not original by any means, but within the style they have chosen to go with they do little wrong. Just like a diver doing a flawless double backflip will get 10 whilst another diver tries a trip axle quadrupal backflip but it flawed in delivery will get 7. Vandamme don't do anything amazing, but do what they do excellently. Eyes: READ what I said about 'Windows of the soul' I NEVER said I disliked it, I merely said

...as I do know, that compared to the debut it is of much lesser quality. I even noted the fact that I did like it but it was a disappointment. The debut promised power and passion, 'Windows' delivered AOR I did not expect, or want. Mark Spiro: When did I say I LOVE 'King of crows'? I said it was another good CD and he has never changed his style. Perhaps overall a little softer than previous, but Mark Spiro has one main style of song-type that he repeats over and over again, as he does here.

So does that explain enough? I personally am more interested to know why Harem Scarem don't belong on this site when you admit the debut is an AOR masterpiece, and there are countless of bands that are heavier / different to the standard AOR style you pigeon-hole yourself into liking on this site, yet you don't say that about these lesser bands? Also why you say that hard rock is for meat heads whilst admitting to liking it? Those facts puzzle me, AOR 'Genius' Freaky.

Hey guys-quite a squabble going on here!! I love this album for exactly the same reasons as Geoff. I also love Renaissance as well. Surely we can agree to disagree? I love Motorhead No Sleep. It's flawed but is still one of my favourite albums. I love Journey (as you know freaky) but don't particularly like Two Fires (Journey clones). On the face of it similar sounding, similar song structures but I cannot get into Two fires. We sometimes cannot explain why we like what we like...we just do

Yeah, Rockhead, I can understand you ! Sometimes it's what we feel. Indeed, some we like, some we don't, and it's not easy to explain why ! I agree ! To Geoff : I can understand you too ! Yes, I like hardrock and no : I've never said that HS should be removed from this site ! I only said I see 'em as a kind of 'traitors', because after a great debut CD and a reasonable second one, they COMPLETELY changed their style, and NOW they play a kind of alternative/modern stuff that don't belong here !

Great killer early 80's type Hard Rock. Very similar to early Ratt, Dokken, Icon, Pump(from Germany) Vice(German band). Highly reommended for your collection. All the songs killer(no filler). Killer razor sharp guitar solo's, excellent melodies, and harmonies. Just listen to Walk Away, Nightcrimes, Love in Chains, Walking in Your Nightmare, One Word which are very memorable. I recommend you track down their other releases, The Demos(Nightcrimes sessions),Red Skies and Renaissance. Rated 9.5/10.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. To me this CD is way overated. There's no doubt these guys can play their instruments but the songwriting is ho-hum. No killer hooks that stayed with me after I listened to it, and not one song good enough to make it into my 750 song favorites playlist on my mp3 player. If a CD has even one good song, I can't get it out of my head...not the case here. Very average.

'Renaissance'is their last great chapter for one of my fave bands of all times.Vandamne didn't wrong a single song in 3 cds',perfect class melodick hard with some awesome aor moments.Great vocals, great guitar arrangments, why their other 2 releases aren't in the site???

'Renaissance'contains a big LIE I didn't expect from a band as Vandamne:drums performed by a man who I don't remember name now....where???Another painful drum machine performance, one of the worst example of how to ruin a perferct melodick class hard rock cd,sincerely a child with 3 months of drums school can play better here...a big shame for bands of high quality IMO....

Questi sono DOKKENESQUE al 100%. Più rozzi, forse, a causa degli evidenti limiti di budget in sede di produzione. Ciò non toglie che abbiano degli autentici pezzi da novanta: "Nightcrimes", "When The Hurt Is Gone", "Don't Run From the Fire" e, soprattutto, "Living On The Edge Of Your Heart" i pezzi più clamorosi. OBBLIGATORIO.

Hey guys! no need to fall out. I must say it's quite weird to see people discussing my work! thank-you Geoff for your kind words. You see, i am guilty of 'googling' myself and i stumbled onto this site. i sang on the first 2 albums, for what it's worth the track i am most proud of is 'Sinister Side Of You' from 'Red Skies'. At the end of the day, music is all subjective and everyone is entitled to their opinion, good or bad. keep on rockin guys!

Hey Trevor! Nice to see a comment from a band member here. Just listened Nightcrimes cd again and i like it. Great "raw" guitar sound. My favs are: "Notorious", "Nightcrimes", "Livin' on the Edge", "Don't Run From the Fire" and "One World". Good album made in ´94 when times were hard for this kind of stuff.

Lion and Jagged Edge fans will love this!."Notorious" a solid start from head to toe,"Walk Away" has explendid chorus,a goodie one,"Nightcrimes" delivers good guitar works courtesy of Mr Limer and Southern,if u want AOR you got it with "When The Hurt Is Gone" along with "Livin'On The Edge" wich is a highlight,"Love In Chains" is not a really good track but has consistent choruses,"Walking In Your Nightmare" is also not too good but after this song comes "Don't Run From The Fire" which is the best track at least for me,with that hard and heavy driven sound,"Heaven's On Fire" is good also and on the final line with have "One World" and the very good instrumental "A Little Jack Me Of".87/100

I don't mind this. I don't love it, but it's OK. It reminds me a lot of that 80s sound, kinda faceless hard rock that if I heard it I would nod my head along to it but not necessarily then dig out my phone to shazam who played it. So, yeah, if you have this cd like me you might play it every now and then and enjoy it, but never really love it. Listen to "Notorious", a good tune, competently played, chugs along nicely, cliched hard rock lyrics that I don't mind, gang chorus vocals, nice guitar solos - it ends, I can't hum it... maybe it's the melody or just not enough differentiating this band from the pack? Either way, enjoyable, just not essential. C+.
