i think this cd is perfect, even though it's not memorable as hi fidelity or wheels are turning, it does though have 11 good tracks and NO SPACE FILLER.

Not as epic as Hi-Infidelity but on par with Wheels Are Turning.All the tracks are quite good and very melodic I might add.

This one brought a spark of life back into the band after the kind of bland "Life as we Know It". The songs are all energetic. It sounds like they put a lot of effort into this one.

This album should have been titled "Gary Richrath Is Gone: Now What The Hell Do We Do?" It doesn't sound like REO Speedwagon AT ALL! Want to know why? Because REO Speedwagon didn't write any of the songs! Jesse Harms (keyboard player for Sammy Hagar) wrote more than half of these tunes. And what he didn't write was filled in by Diane Warren. Or Adrian Gurvitz. Or Mark Spiro. Get the picture? Cronin and the Cronettes are crooning, but if you're expecting REO Speedwagon, fughetaboutit!

Phil, is Gary Richrath your brother? What I see is that he's not in this good album, but he was in the last mediocre albums. That's all. The guitarwork by Amato is fine. And it's true it doesn't sound like Reo in teh seventies, but it sound like Reo in the '90. I like the Harms songs, he's a great songwriter, but the rocker songs aren't as good as the mid-tempos (almost every song from 2 to 6!!)

Am a little too young to remember the heyday of bands like Journey and REO Speedwagon, but I do recognise quality AOR albums, and this is one. Outside songwriters abound on this and it's AOR-by-numbers a little, but some brilliant tracks on here. "Halfway" is killer AOR, as is "All Heaven Broke Loose" which is superbly written. This one may not have pleased long-term fans, but if you love the Spiro/Jesse Harms/Dianne Warren school of songwriting, you'll love this. 8.5/10.

Sad fact of the matter is I can barely remember a song off this album. It's decent rock I guess, but as unspectacular as it gets, IMO. Forgettable stuff.

I was never big on the redneck kinda rock that REO used to pump out prior to Tuna Fish (apart from the occassional song .. Riding the Storm Out for example) many bands did it much better (Head East).From Nine Lives on they seemed to mature, the songs became much less like generic good old boys tunes to well crafted AOR. This continues in the same style AOR...not their best..but tracks like All Heaven Broke Loose and Love in the Future have their charm. It's not an album I would sell at any rate.

Saw them live on this album tour in Venezuela.It was their second visit to my country(they have performed here 3 times so far).anyway "love is a rock"&"live it up"are nice catchy and typical Reo's songs.I remeneber the forum where they played at was packed with maybe as much as 12.000 thousand people!.So i supposed they have my country as favourite place to play.

Ya know I thought I'd check out the REO section and I have re-read my review and it seems a little down on the album. Two and a half years on from that and I have to say I now rate this as one of the bands BETTER efforts. Maybe I'm getting too old haha! But as with ALL REO albums from Nine Lives onward, including Hi Infidelity it starts to run out of steam/ideas towards the end. Strangely Wheels Are Turning and Find Your Way Home (so far as I have heard it up to this point) bucked that trend.

Seen REO in concert on Friday night. They were great!!! Although, not a single tune off of this album was played. This album is mediocre at best. Richrath was a master of the Gibson. For all of us who have seen him play you no what I mean. REO will never have the sound again that made them famous without Gary.

This album is definitely an improvement over "Life As We Knew It". It sounds a lot like Bad English to me. Obviously this came out around the time pop-metal was at its peak, and I imagine Dave Amato (who was coming from stints with Ted Nugent and Jimmy Barnes) helped to revitalise them.

Very nice album by this wonderful act!!!..."All Heaven Broke Loose" is my fave cut of it but add to that tracks # 3,6,7,8,9(nice),10 & 11...a band that has performed in my country 3 times(Venezuela)and that has a kinda fan based homeground group in here .85/100

very good album for REO SPEEDWAGON with a more updated approach and a very polished big production!Dave Amato s guitar work is the mane attraction and mosty of the songs are fine ,but i cant find any really big ones!"live it up","all heaven broke loose" ,"can t lie to my heart' and "l.i.a.r." are the highlights

The most uptempo release since Nine Lives, a bunch of decent songs, none of them are fillers, but a couple of key components are missing in Alan and Gary. I can listen to this record and not get bored, it's not represent on radio or future tours.
